This is a very rare lantern I have never seen another one like ... moreit listed on Ebay. The lamp is in excellent condition as evident by the photos. It has a very nice patina on the outside and looks great as is. Or can easily be polished for a brilliant shine. The lamp has a wooden handle, and on the left side of the lamp is a thumb toggle switch that opens and closes an aperture behind the lens that allows the light to have the appearance of turning on and off. I'm no expert, but I believe the lamp was designed for semaphore which is a method of using light to visually communicate with another ship, or from ship to shore, and vice a versa. The toggle switch works smoothly, and the door opens and closes freely. Please closely review all of the photos for the material condition of the lamp. The lamp has the original oil/kerosene pot, but it is missing the glass chimney and possibly a reflector that may have fit in the small rectangular slot at the end of the pot. A replacement glass chimney can be easily found online. The lantern measures approximately 20" inches from the top of the handle to the base, and it is approximately 10 1/2" inches wide. If you are a serious collector you do not want to miss the opportunity to own this lantern you may never see another one like it on Ebay. Antique Brass Nautical Light Ship Lantern This is a heavy(7-1/2lb. antique brass ship lantern. It is in good condition with the exception of several dents and a bent section of the guard. Please see photos. The internal lamp part is missing but a big 22oz Yankee Candle fits inside perfectly! Candle not included. The fixture is ventilated on top and bottom. It was designed for a flame burning oil lamp originally. The patina is nice. The glass lens is in great shape. The silver colored reflector inside is also in excellent condition. Up for auction is this old P ERKO ships lamp. It must be the largest lamp made by Perko. It stands an impressive 2 4" tall. With handle raised. M easures 11 1/2" wide and 9 1/2" deep. This could have been a cargo lamp. Steaming l ight. Anchor light, or a stern light. Not really sure. Somewhere on it's journey it was electrified and has a bulb inside and the burner is not present. It has a thick Fresnel lens that is turning purpl e with age and it has a crack in it that is stable. Doesn't detract much from the old lamp. Still displays beautifull y.With a r ich patina that adds to the salty character. This Perko lamp was made in Brooklyn. New York a long time ago and after being at sea for many years. We are offering today this large 20" antique Miller Co lantern. Believed to be from 1930's to 1940s rare and very desirable. We have not been able to find another one like it. They are usually flat on the back. Ours is V shaped that fits in a corner with bracket pocket on the left. Its red fresnel glass lens was made by Perko with Mold No.35 on its side. Glass is in good condition with about 3 tiny. Tiny chips on the ribs of the glass that are hardly noticeable. Also has a few tiny paint specks, age& dirt. No cracks though. The lantern has been painted red sometime in its life that’s faded, chipping. It comes with a chain& Original brass Miller Co. burner& hurricane ... moreglass that’s attached to bottom cover. The hurricane is in good condition with some tiny chipping along the bottom rim that goes into the burner. Also is soiled. The lantern’s body is in good-fair condition except looks like something heavy was put on its top& it caved in a little to the right. But does not affect the structural integrity, it just adds character! The top still opens fine. This would make a unique& super conversation piece. If only it could talk! T he very top of the lantern has a dent in it and the handle has a light bend i n it. There are a few small dings on the out side. The glass in good condition no chips or cracks as far as can be seen. T he burner is in good condition as well. We aren't sure if this is the original burner. The burner comes out of the bottom of the lantern to refill it. T he burner is also missing 1 of the 3 clips that holds it in. W e are not experts on sailing lanterns but this is how it came to us. I t also looks like it can be hang or hung by the brackets in the back as shown in the pictures. T his is a nice peace of old time sailing history. The beautiful red glass that appears to be hand blown reads"Perkins 10" Frederick Perkins founded the Perkins Marine Lamp Company in the late 1800's in Brooklyn. His lamps were hand formed and soldered from brass. Copper and galvanized steel. About 1922, the trademark name PERKO was introduced and their products were marked with PERKO instead of PERKINS. Up for auction today is vintage nautical lantern. Different people call these types by such names as; buoy. Piling, master head, anchor, or dock lantern/ light. I am not sure of the proper name or use for this lantern. Can you inform me? It measures 17 ½” tall. The bottom is 8” in diameter, the top is 7 ½” in diameter, the lens is 4 ¾” tall(the exposed portion) and the lens is approx 5” in diameter. The lens is a dark ruby red and I see no cracks or chips. The body is galvanized metal with the rings. Latching hardware and the top ring of bottom portion being made of brass. There is a makers mark on the inside but some is missing and I cannot tell by what I can read who the maker is. Do you know? I assume that it was battery operated but there is no battery or wiring that is visible. I did not take the top portion apart and ... moredo not know if there is a bulb inside. The one photo that shows the lens bright was held up to the sun. The lantern is in good overall condition with some oxidation and rust as shown. 1900s Great Britain Cargo Light- Vintage Maritime Nautical Brass Square Antique Lantern. This exquisite brass maritime cargo light is in good condition. The top opens and closes with a latch. The wick rolls up and down freely and appears to be about new. There is no oil or kerosene. This was part of my grandparent's estate. The glass panels are intact. Not broken or cracked; however, there are some blemishes: 1) Glass glove is cracked at base(see photo) 2) Top needs repair(see top view photo) 3) Lamp base is detached from base. Large Anchor Brass Lantern Copper 19" lamp light ship nautical nautical marine
Some tarnish. Scuffs/etc and three brackets screwed into the base. A small ding or two that I wouldn't call dents, but you may. Approximately 10 inches across the bottom and 19 inches tall- 21 inches if you count the top handle- more if you count the bottom handle: I do not know if the oil burner works or ever was supposed to work. Is 5 inches wide across the back, 3 inches wide across the front, and is 4-3/8 inches deep. It has a flat back so that it can be mounted on a wall. It has one flaw, the latch for the door in back is broken. It is otherwise in excellent condition with no significant cracks, dents or breaks. The tri-colored original bullet lens glass is still in excellent condition. This is the one you want to complete your collection, so don't let this rare lantern get away! Vintge Red Glass Lamp Lantern Oakford Marine? Passageway Railroad Train Light
This is a Vintage Lantern or Lamp. It is marked OAKFORD on the metal base. The glass is thick and red in color. It is marked 9S 3129 TYPE- O. It has a loop handle and wire cord(that has been cut from where it must have originally been attached to) It is heavy. I have seen something similar that were made for railroad trains and marine ships. Maybe this in another type used for either of those? I am not sure and you may know more than I about this item. It is old. Possibly from around the 1950's. It is in good condition, no rust but it has that used metal look and odor. The glass is solid, no cracks. The base is 6" tall. The sliding oil lamp section is unmarked- it does original to the lantern. It has the Neptune tag on the front. This is fresh from an old New England barn and will need cleaning- I have not attempted to clean this up at all. The glass globe has a flake of the bottom edge. Here is a Large Perko Marine Lamp Lantern. The Lantern is approx. 19” tall without including the handle and 10” in diameter and weighs over 16 lbs by itself. The Lantern has a brass label stating“Perkins Marine Lamp& HDWE Corp PERKO Reg Trademark Brooklyn. NY USA. The center Glass piece is marked Perko. The lantern comes with Original Oil Burner, Glass Chimney, and Paper Instructions. The lantern is in Fantastic Condition with No cracks, breaks or dents to the metal and No cracks to the center glass or chimney.
