Antique 1800s Nautical Post Lantern Lighthouse Lamp Ship Mast Anchor Light Brass
Description: This is a large antique"birdcage" type oil lantern that was made between 1860 and 1890. It has a period Fresnel lens globe that is in good condition with a bit of chipping around the rim. But no cracks or structural damage. These brass lamps were re-produced by Perkins Marine Lamp Corporation but this one is an original 1800s light as shown by the beautifully decorated hanging ring at the top, careful handmade construction, etc. This one is also extra special in that it has the post fittings for use in a light house- it is missing the brass plate which would have marked it as such, but you can see where it used to be attached. The lamp is complete with the inside oil lamp with original chimney and reflector. The lamp stands approx 18-3/4" to the top handle and approx 16-1/2" to the top of the lamps upper section. It weighs approx 9 1/2 lbs and the bracket approx 3 lbs +. It is in Good as found original condition- normal general wear but no real issues. Some light surface rust that will clean off. Wonderful vintage Tung Woo. Hong Kong, copper ships lantern. This one is marked"Anchor. 9" high x 4.5" wide or 22 cm x 13 cm Some of the copper has"greened' and spread to cover other parts. Here is a HUGE DRESSEL Lantern marked MOHAWK LAMP NEW YORK STATE CANALS. This lantern is marked on top DRESSEL ARLINGTON NJ. USA. This old Beauty is 17 1/2 inches tall from bottom to top an 22 1/2 tall to the top of the hanging handle. It should be noted this IS AN OLD RELIC AND SOMEONE SHOULD NOT EXPECT PERFECTION. There is some staining the glass FRESNEL IS 8 INCHES ACROSS CLEAR GLASS AND 7 INCHES TALL AND IS MARKED CORNING. There is a crack in the FRESNEL photo 5 and some chips in the glass from years of use. NOTE THE GLASS IS INTACT AND NOT LOOSE. The turn screws are tight but work and the top comes off. The base is 10 inches across and 3 inches high. Brass Masthead Electric Lantern 14" Nautical Decor Lamp
This heavy and solid brass Masthead lantern is well suited for the boat house. Houseboat, lake house or beach condo. It would look great on the back deck or patio or the perfect complement to any nautical themed room. I found this at an Estate Sale and it was in pitiful shape. Covered in layers of dust and spilled paint and it was heavily tarnished. I have no idea how old it is but judging by the condition in which I found it, I would venture to guess that it is at least several decades old. I completely disassembled and spent over eight hours hand polishing it completely and thoroughly. Every nook and cranny. It is immaculate. I could hardly believe how well it turned out. I converted it to an electric lantern with a 12' cord with an inline switch. If you don't like the light bulb look you can easily remove the light socket and replace ... moreit with a candle or you can buy the lantern oil canister and wick and use it as an oil burning lamp. I think the electric is much cleaner. It is pictured illuminated with a 40W bulb. The silvered brass reflector really puts out the light, this would be best used with a dimmer switch or maybe even a 25W bulb. It is an impressive 14" tall without the handle and 6" wide. Heavy duty cast brass mounting hardware on the back. There are three very small pits in the finish in one small area. As seen in the close up picture. Listed here is a very rare indeed fluted Fresnel lensed Anchor lantern from the 1930's-1940's. Possibly earlier. The lens in this lantern is very rare. As well as the Fresnel design. The lens is fluted as well, amplifying the brightness of the lantern. The glass lens is free of any chips or cracks. The lantern is galvanized metal and has some missing It looks to be converted to electricity. The wiring is no longer complete, therefore the light does not illuminate. Some cage arms are missing; there are dents in the metal. Also, the metal has been painted, as you can see. The lens is believed to be Perko; the lantern from"Wilcox Grittenden and Co. Wilcox Crittenden Battery-operated Marine Lantern
What a find! The paper insert to this marine lantern shows it was manufactured by the Wilcox-Crittenden Division of North& Judd Manufacturing Co. which was formerly the marine company Wilcox. Crittenden& Company, which had operated in Middletown since 1869. But by 1971. The Wilcox-Crittenden Division was a Gulf + Western Precision Engineering Company, so in all likelihood, this lantern was manufactured in the 1960s. This is a battery operated light. I am not sure of the metal- I would have guessed brass. But I saw a similar one referred to as copper, so it could be either. The top has two screws that hold it in place, and there are two nuts(shown in the photos) that I assume hold the leads in place on the battery(there is no battery) The switch does turn and clicks. Someone had taped a note on the outside of the lantern to alert to ... morethe instructions inside. And that has left some cellophane tape residue on the outside, which I was nervous about trying to clean with anything stronger than soap and water, so it still is sticky.

Peter Gray & Sons Ship Lantern with Red Fresnel Lens
This lantern is badged on the inside of the door"PETER GRAY& SONS. MANUFACTURERS, BOSTON MASS. The company used this name from about 1885- 1920, so presumably it was made during this time period. It stands about 13" high by 7" wide and 7" deep, not including the bracket on the back. The body of the lantern is steel, as is the burner except for its bottom which appears to be copper. It is complete, including the burner(the wick is even still there! and the mounting bracket on the back which clearly had fit into a mounting plate. Overall, it is in good condition, but here are the issues that I have found: The lens is chipped in four places. I used an LED flashlight to take the picture with the light from the inside, but it does not really do the color justice. The lens is a beautiful ruby red.
