Piling, master head, anchor, or dock lantern/ ... morelight. I am not sure of the proper name or use for this lantern. Can you inform me? It measures 17 ½” tall. The bottom is 8” in diameter, the top is 7 ½” in diameter, the lens is 4 ¾” tall(the exposed portion) and the lens is approx 5” in diameter. The lens is a dark ruby red and I see no cracks or chips. The body is galvanized metal with the rings. Latching hardware and the top ring of bottom portion being made of brass. There is a makers mark on the inside but some is missing and I cannot tell by what I can read who the maker is. Do you know? I assume that it was battery operated but there is no battery or wiring that is visible. I did not take the top portion apart and do not know if there is a bulb inside. The one photo that shows the lens bright was held up to the sun. The lantern is in good overall condition with some oxidation and rust as shown. The rubber gasket and other rubber pieces are inside but in poor condition(see photos) Please look at the photos carefully to see what is included. The lantern/ lamp is untested. Vintage Copper Marine Light Lantern Made in Hong Kong Probably Anchor
I don't know anything about this lantern. I looked in my lantern book. And it looks right for an anchor light. The book says they were usually brass, but this one, where there is any finish left, looks much more like copper. The only marking is on the bottom and it reads Hong Kong. The glass is intact, and very thick and heavy. There is no burning unit inside, and it's not electrified, so I don't know how it was ever used to burn anything. There is a vent on the top that opens to the inside, that is missing its' top cover. There are no holes in the body of the lamp, but lots of rust. This is about 9 1/2" tall. It's neat, and I've not seen one like it, but I have no idea how it works. When you shake the lamp, you can hear rust flakes inside the sealed tank. Artifact Found* Up for sale is a Vintage Dew-R-Lite. It is a mining lantern from Dewar Manufacturing. Brooklyn, New York. It has seen better days but is in pretty good shape for being used and being around this long. I think it used kerosene. The rubber ring seal has fallen off and has been discarded. Antique Marine Nautical * Tin Oil Lantern * Lamp * Very Good!
Antique Nautical Marine Oil Lantern to start a new paragraph use- This is a great example of an antique marine oil lantern. It's one of the best ones I've seen. The main body ~ top/bottom is free of dents. The hanger and tie downs are intact. The wires or cage is there and in good condition. The glass is free of chips on the outside, has some of the little flea bite size around the rim on the bottom inside like they all do. And the bottom oil lamp part is there, the hinge works and it stays closed when you hold it up. I don't see a mark on the glass, but this looks like a Perkins lantern. At one time had a finish on it ~ I have left this, it does chip off if you care to totally remove it and just have that old zinc/tin look, but right now it has great patina! I have pretty much left it in"as found" condition, I wiped ... morethe glass off inside and out. It measures 8 3/4 inches tall with the top ring down and about 10 1/8 with it up. The base is 4 1/8 inches across. Item: Antique Brass Lantern Description: As a“picker” I find myself in all kinds of places hunting for treasures to sell. Recently. I stopped at an old barn in the Catskill Mountains of New York because I saw the owner walking around outside. He was nice enough to let me walk around and surprisingly. I only left with one item sadly. But, this item is really awesome. It is a VERY OLD Brass Hanging Lantern that was so incredibly caked with dust I could barely recognize what it was. I believe a lantern like this was fueled either by kerosene/oil of some sort. This lantern measures 8” Tall(not including handle) x 4” wide across the base. There are absolutely no“Maker’s Marks” on this piece that I can see. If there was at one time. It probably wore off. I am very comfortable saying this item is no less than 75 years old. I am sure my photos will ... morebest further describe this item. Condition: One thing I know NOT to do is polish up old metal items like this. I simply used a brush to wipe off the years/decades of dust and then only a slightly damp cloth to finish cleaning it. Personally. I love all the oxidations/patina that is on the brass but that is personal. On a scale of 1– 10(Ten being MINT) I can confidently grade this item’s condition to be a solid 7.5 at least. Both the top and base detach as they should and they do it problem free. There is no longer a wick inside of it. The wheel to lower/raise the wick does turn freely though as it should. USCG Lightship LV-88 Bronze Lantern AGA Fresnel Lens Columbia River Lighthouse
This is one of two AGA bronze lanterns made in Sweden which were fitted to Light Vessel 88. Stationed off the mouth of the Columbia River from 1909 to 1939. Soda blasting has revealed various old stenciled markings around the base, but these are not easy to read. This lantern and its mate were removed from the LV88 by her last owner here in Canada. After she was sold by the Maritime Museum in Astoria, WA in 1980. The vessel was converted to a barquentine rig and chartered commercially in the Caribbean before being sold to a city in Japan for use as a simulated"black ship" of Admiral Perry's time. The location of the fresnel lens from this lantern is unknown. But identical 400mm lenses have been offered for sale on the internet for as much as $15,000. This is a difficult item to price, so I welcome information that would help ... moreto establish fair market value. This lantern weighs just over 380 pounds. Most of which is bronze. Three of the triangular panes of glass are broken or cracked. These could be replaced by a competent glass worker or foundry by hot bending plate glass of an appropriate type over a form. Probably it would be simplest to make a pattern from a flexible material and cut and grind the glass while flat and then bend to fit. This could probably be done more economically off-shore these days. As could the replacement of the fresnel lens if an original could not be found. The lantern is secured to its base with six 1" bolts and could be mounted for indoor or outdoor display. Polished or left as made. That will be up to the buyer! The brass screws that secure the brass strips that retain the glass panes tend to stick and break off. Requiring drilling out, but some careful heating with a small oxy-acetylene torch might prevent this. All of the retaining strips that were removed are present- none are missing from the lantern. The lantern will be crated by me. Secured by its mounting bolts to a suitable forkliftable base for truck freight. Pickup in person is also an option as equipment

First is that it was used on a railway train lantern or train bridge signal light. They other response I got was that it was a ship's signal light or used for navigation through fog. Up For Auction Antique Nautical Copper Port Lantern? The tag on this lantern looks like it says N.L. Piper Railway Co Toronto I am selling this lantern for an estate of a gentleman that found this lantern in the 1950's when diving in the Great Lakes- Straits of Mackinac. The heavy red glass does have a crack towards the bottom(see picture) There is also a hole in the base(see picture) I don't know if it's suppose to be there or it happen at the time it went down as a shipwreck in the Straits. Antique Perko Delite Marine Brass and Steel Bow Oil Lantern Red & Green
For sale is a nice old marine lamp-lantern made by Perko De Lite Lamp. This one is made of copper and what appears to be galvanized metal. It has the original oil lamp inside and a green and a red glass lens. They are both in good shape and not broken. Mounting bracket on back with original Perko brass tag. Hanging or holding loop on top. This Nautical Ship Lantern measures 10" x 5½" x 5" It is all original and uncleaned. The gentleman I got this from said he used to use the lantern in it when he camped as a kid. Inside you can see the carbon left from when the lamp was lit. I think if this was wired right. Extraordinary Antique Wooden "Steam Boat" Lantern
Greetings. This is a remarkable very old wooden Lantern with an elegant white etching of a Steam Boat trudging full speed ahead through the high seas. Steamboats's have been around since the late 1700's. They reached their peak in the mid 1800's and continued on through the 1920's or so. I do not know the age of this lantern but suspect mid-late 1900's and also suspect that it was used on the boat that is portrayed. I could not find another one like it. This lantern is made like a barrel out of hard wood and is quite heavy, it measures 5 1/4" tall and has a circumference of 15" I believe the top and lining are made of brass. There is a very small nick at the top that does not detract from the appearence at all but I want to be descriptive. Very Rare PURPLE Masthead Signal Lantern made by Perko from the early 1900s. This piece is in remarkable shape including a lens with no cracks and only a couple minor chips. Additionally it contains all of the original lamp socket hardware. Once it has new wiring installed it will function as new assuming you can find the appropriate light bulbs. Five bulbs are included but have not been tested. The Brass/Bronze casing has some residual paint spots from a few paintings over the years. The Brass up rods also have some discoloration. This all lends itself perfectly to the wonderful patina of this maritime treasure. Due to it's amethyst colour. The Fresnel lens is likely to have been made of manganese dioxide decolorized glass which was produced up until about 1920. The PERKO trademark was registered by Perkins Marine Lamp. For sale is a trio of vintage lamps made using vintage copper and brass ship's lanterns made by Tung Woo of Hong Kong. The lamps have different colors of glass; green. Red, and clear(yellowish) The 3 ship lanterns are the same size, but one of them(with the clear glass) is primarily brass, is mounted on a taller wooden base, and is made into a lamp in a different style, making it taller than the other 2 lamps. The lanterns on the 2 small lamps appear to be primarily made of copper. The tops of the lanterns all open. The 2 smaller lanterns have silver-colored(chrome? reflectors installed behind the bulbs. Antique Military Naval Ship Boat Lantern Light 5293-L-5 USS Savannah
This is a WWII US Naval Ship USS Savannah gray battle lantern. It is in the same condition as it was when it was on the ship. There are scuffs in the paint in some spots exhibiting minimal wear and there is also original dust/dirt adding great patina to the lantern. Some of the dirt and scuffs appear as scratches but are not. Some screws are missing from the top(see photo) but the ones that are there hold the lid on very tightly. There are no dents or dings.except for below the hanging bracket where it came in contact with the hangar. These are minimal. Overall in great shape for over 70 years old! The yellow lens is not cracked or broken and there is a bulb in the light base. The diameter of the lens is 3 3/4 inches. The overall height of the lantern is 10 inches including the handle. The overall depth is 4 inches including the lamp/lens. ... moreThe overall width is 7 3/4 inches. It weighs 5 lbs. Markings on the lantern are as follows: Handle-5293-L-5 Lens cover-5293-L-4 Side of lantern-5293-L-1 It was definitely from the USS Savannah from the late'30's to'40's since the man we got it from was retired Navy serving on that ship and acquired the lamp prior to the ship's overhall. The cord was spliced and a new one was attached, I acquired the lamp in this condition, will leave it up to the buyer to either rewire or leave as is, the lamp will work with the cord left this way. 17" Port Marine Oil Lantern
You are bidding on a BIG brass and copper Port marine oil lantern. Port = Red lens I don't see any markings other than the PORT name tag so I can't determine age. Nicely fabricated. Looks like there could have been repair to seams. Features: 1. Large Size 17" TALL x 13" WIDE 2. Fits into corner with use of mounting bracket on back 3. Removable bottom liquid fuel canaster. Rare Antique Helvig kerosene ship's compass binnacle lantern circa 1880
Plate on back of this brass lantern reads: H.A.J. Helvig& Co. Manufacturers New York" It is 8" H& 3 1/2 W across front. Helvig did a great business. With lanterns, in 1800's but finding a similar lantern is rare. Some years ago, I found one that was referred to as a Whale oil lantern w/handles for carrying, 1845. Value placed on it was 2,500. Then I placed a note inside the lantern w/that info, but today I can't remember if it was just the same, though today I think that year may have been earlier than when my family sailed. I believe that it was used in about mid to late 1800's. I have used as a decoration for at least 50 years. Nothing has been added to it, so I believe it is all original, but not sure if it had been done before I inherited it in 1962. The glass globe is pretty shinny, so maybe not original, ... morealso has an unused wick. I occasionally, through the year, gave it a slight polish to highlight the brass luster, but untouched for past 20 years. The back of the top part(neck) has some brass missing from it's thin collar. Visible on 2nd picture. The top round has some old dings, the name plaque has lifted. Basically, there are some dings and nicks overall, but nothing major for a working tool. Well enjoyed, but must part with it.please ask your questions before bidding, as once sold I do not want to take it back. Well unless misrepresented. It was reclaimed from a Vintage Boat house with original décor from the 60's. So I assume this fixture is also that old. The brass shows some stress from outdoor use and temp changes but could still be attractive and useable for decades in an indoor or outdoor protected area. The Original true thick FRESNEL LENS(I think it is Kopp Glass- marked in the middle of the lens) is in very good condition with no cracks or chips. Vintage Nautical Maritime Electric Ship Wheel Hanging Lantern Ceiling Light Fixture Lamp. Has 3 Lantern style lights hanging from the ship wheel. Made to be hard wired into the ceiling. All the wires are present. All the frosted glass shades are in great shape. There are some scratches on the ship wheel. But those can be touched up pretty easy if desired. One og the hanging lanterns is missing a twist on fastener for the top of one of the rods that goes from top to bottom. This does not effect the use. All in all this is a great nautical piece. Measures 24" across the ship wheel. Each lantern is 7"H and 6" wide. Hangs down about 22"
