This lantern used Vaclite oil made by the Standard Oil Company and used mainly on vessels. I believe this lantern was made by the Perkins Marine& Lamp Company. Antique Perkins Marine Lamp Great Nautical Lantern Red Globe Copper Rare! Look!
Offered with no reserve. A rare Perkins Marine Lamp. This is made by the Perkins Marine Lamp and Hardware Company of Brooklyn New York. Has a small brass ID tag just under the toggle switch. See picture#3. The lamp stands 15" tall and is 7" in diameter at the base. Copper construction. Features 2 tie down hooks at the base. Also has hook on the top cover. There are several metal"arms" that protect the globe. One of these is missing the top screw. See second to last picture. This is a dry cell battery operated lamp. It appears the necessary wires are in place. See pics#6.7,8, cannot guarantee the lamp will light and it was not tested) There is a on/off toggle switch just above the ID tag that has a screw on"cover nut" attached to a chain. See pics#3 and 4. Two brackets. One each side are secured with a wing nut ... morethat opens the lamp for access to the battery compartment. The red globe is solid thick glass and it is in good condition with no cracks or damage. A very nice nautical lamp and a great find for collectors. Wonderful display item! We are pleased to offer this RARE.ORIGINAL& SMALL circa 1920 PERKINS"YANKEE ENGINEERS" brass nautical kerosene lantern. These"DEAD FLAME" lanterns are known as being made by the PERKINS MARINE LAMP CORPORATION of New York. These lanterns were made between the years 1916 and 1930. The"YANKEE ENGINEERS" model was sold either in a galvanized steel or a brass frame. The option of marked Perkins colored globe was also available. This lantern is made of brass and is unmarked. Other than its threaded burner, which is marked DIETZ/ CONVEX. The lantern's top and base are hinged and the unmarked clear globe measures 4 1/4' tall by 2 1/2' in diameter. This little lantern is in very good condition. I don't know the age of it and there is not a manufacturer name on it. It is nicely done. I is electric. The bulb in it is marked USA. I was able to read Sylvania and 230V. I wiped the end to read it more clearly and all of the letters went away. It is a dual pole bulb. The bulb receptacle screws out and there are screws that can be removed or loosened to place wires into it then tightened back to make a very good positive connection. Antique Kerosene Lantern Clear Globe Embury Oil Lamp #210 Supreme Warsaw NY
Up for auction is this rusty but still cool antique Supreme#210 lamp by the Embury Manufacturing Company of Warsaw. New York. Marked on the base as shown. Lamp measures 13 inches tall without the handle and is 6 inches across at the base. As you can see from the pictures the metal portions of this lamp are well and truly rusted. However. I could find no holes or weak areas and the metal frame and base are still solid. The lamp still has a cloth wick but the adjustment knob is rusted into position. I did not attempt to fix it. The cap for the tank is also rusted but it does still unscrew and then screw back in securely. There is no gas or oil in the tank. Metal hand is secure and swings smoothly.
