Rare Vintage NY & NJ Port Authority Red Lamp Light Beacon Nautical Airports
For auction is a rare Light/Lamp/Beacon. From the New York and New Jersey Port Authority. It's used but in great shape and DOES WORK! I tested it with a 6 volt battery, but its probably designed for a 9 or 12. I'm not sure what this was for exactly, but some kind of signal, possibly for a port, an airport, or one of the bridges/tunnels. It's all steel, and has a glass globe on top with a red plastic insert. It measures 8 inches long, 4 3/4 inches wide, and about 12 inches tall including the globe. It's made tough, weighing 8 pounds. It has a toggle switch on the top. It doesn't blink but does turn on steady. It's supposed to blink but there may be a wiring error or an issue with the relay. There is also some rust on the bottom of the battery box but no holes. These are obsolete and acquired legally. We were in charge of clearing out all of the brass heating pipes and all the left over items on board that did not meet the requirements of the owners. THIS is one of those items. HUGE Vintage GE Flood Light Lamp Search Spot Industrial Steampunk Navy 1919 WWI
Wonderful antique searchlight by GE. Plate on front reads PROJECTOR No 27904. DL 1899954-1 TYPE PC 18 FORM can't make out training circuit volts Aug.19.19 GENERAL ELECTRIC COMPANY CO. The carbide mechanism is long gone but this light has been repurposed with a new 110volt Socket with an Edison style bulb. Looks great. Original concave mirror still in place. The glass in the brass front ring has been replaced with 1/4" plexiglass. The base is not original to the piece, the base was custom fabricated to display this light. The light measures 22 1/2" in diameter and 22 1/2 deep. The light stands an impressive 6 ft tall. The light assembly still oscillates and can be pointed up or down like it was originally intended.
