Piling, master head, anchor, or dock lantern/ ... morelight. I am not sure of the proper name or use for this lantern. Can you inform me? It measures 17 ½” tall. The bottom is 8” in diameter, the top is 7 ½” in diameter, the lens is 4 ¾” tall(the exposed portion) and the lens is approx 5” in diameter. The lens is a dark ruby red and I see no cracks or chips. The body is galvanized metal with the rings. Latching hardware and the top ring of bottom portion being made of brass. There is a makers mark on the inside but some is missing and I cannot tell by what I can read who the maker is. Do you know? I assume that it was battery operated but there is no battery or wiring that is visible. I did not take the top portion apart and do not know if there is a bulb inside. The one photo that shows the lens bright was held up to the sun. The lantern is in good overall condition with some oxidation and rust as shown. The rubber gasket and other rubber pieces are inside but in poor condition(see photos) Please look at the photos carefully to see what is included. The lantern/ lamp is untested. From an estate sale is an Antique Vtg Brass Wall Oil or Kerosene Lantern. It measures 13" long and the beveled glass windows measure 4" x 3" All windows are free of cracks or damage. There is some surface rust on the inside but no corrosion to the metal to cause holes or damage so it could be cleaned if needed. The very top of the lantern has been soldered(see photos) but it doesn't affect the workings of the lantern. Here we have a very large ship or boat lamp or lantern marked"Anchor" This estate found lantern is made from solid brass which has been lacquered. Although the lacquer is crazing from age. It still displays very nicely. The center cap in the top flips up and it also opens at the base of the top as well. There is an oil lamp inside that does have the wick. In the center there is a very thick ribbed glass lens that has no cracks. There is a brass anchor hook on the top and the bottom. No dents, nice vintage condition. Here is a great nautical ship or railroad lantern for your buying consideration. Recently acquired them at an auction that a party's collection of marine/nautical items were being sold. Per the patent date of March 1 1864. The burner has the name"Convex on the other side of the brass wick guide. Struck out when attempted to find something online for that patent date. Ring for hanging it is still on the top of the lantern. The lantern also has a brass spring clip affixed to the back of ... morethe lamp. Someone put felt on it. So as to not scratch the surface the lantern is attached to. The lantern has a thick rounded glass on it. The glass is not cracked. There is a chip in the glass where the clear globe meets the metal body on the top left side. The burner appears intact and has a wick in it. A ding in the bottom of the burner. The case of the lantern is made of metal. Probably repainted with the black paint on it some time after it was new many moons ago. No major rust or corrosion to the lantern body. The lantern is 8.75" tall. By 3.75" across, by 5.25" wide. I do not see a maker's mark on the body of the lantern or lens, just the burner body. My father purchased this ship lantern in 1964 at moss point Mississippi.It came from one of the ships in the National Defense Reserve(Ghost Fleet) that was anchored in Blakeley River. AL. It's in good shape with a few signs of age and wear. The glass does have a small ship in it. Its condition is further detailed in the photographs. Gorgeous Port Light Lantern. Lantern measures approx. 10 inches tall(not counting the pail 3.5" type handle) by 7 inches wide by 6 inches deep. I have sold a half dozen nautical lamps and this is by far the fairest of them all.inside 7 out. It has a beautiful patina. Only one very small dent, no scratching or chips. There are two layers of curved glass.the exterior glass(Barcelona Glass) is clear and a red internal curved piece. Both pieces excellent.no chips or cracks There is an opening. Surrounded by a rubber gasket, going into the lamp. Not sure what it is for, maybe a lead light. I placed a small light in the body to show what this lamp can look like. Could be electrified quite easily with the hole already there. Great looking lamp. Would look great all lit up out on a boat dock. By the pool or on a patio. Could be hung, attached ... moreto a wall bracket or just set on a shelf. Excellent Condition. There is some type of mounting bracket on backside. The lid is also very tight with solid hinges. There are 4 little feet on bottom with holes for air circulation. Would appreciate any info you might have as to maker as there is no hallmark on the lamp. Believe it's early 1900's. This little lantern is in very good condition. I don't know the age of it and there is not a manufacturer name on it. It is nicely done. I is electric. The bulb in it is marked USA. I was able to read Sylvania and 230V. I wiped the end to read it more clearly and all of the letters went away. It is a dual pole bulb. The bulb receptacle screws out and there are screws that can be removed or loosened to place wires into it then tightened back to make a very good positive connection. Up for sale is a very old Nautical Maritime Navigation Brass PORT Lantern/Light. Let me start by saying I do not know what I have here; it is old. Weathered and has some rust and oxidizing on the lantern. The top hanging part is loose as screws not secure in the back of it. I believe it is copper and or brass. I do not see any name on the lantern. There are no dents on the lantern. Front screw opening. The front has the word PORT. The light is heavy red glass. Not plastic. There is no interior piece that lights the lantern. The glass has come loose and the metal frame has separated in the corner but all of this can be fixed. Could use a cleaning/polishing. For its age. It is in very good condition.
