There is some patina and light scratches on cast bronze brass housing-looking down into center of lens glass. Part of the electrical cord remains inside- This piece sits on a wood blog base with the cord that enters the bottom of lantern and runs thru the center of wood block base that measures 9" x 9 1/2" This Fresnel lantern light overall height is 7 1/2" sitting on wood block and weighs more than 13 lbs. This red glass lantern has Fresnel lens all-round lantern with protective brass bars and bronze screw on top. Good vintage condition; no dents in the brass and only a couple small sliver chips on a couple of louvers of red fresnel glass; The brass lid is a bit tight for me to screw on and off using a wrench. This piece was made to use as a table light- with outlet cord and plug that looks older. Plugs in fine and needs a bulb- but I could not open top with bolts- my hands were not strong enough to turn wrench. It likely needs a small bulb and would work fine. The bottom is 8” in diameter, the top is 7 ½” in diameter, the lens is 4 ¾” tall(the exposed portion) and the lens is approx 5” in diameter. The lens is a dark ruby red and I see no cracks or chips. The body is galvanized metal with the rings. Latching hardware and the top ring of bottom portion being made of brass. There is a makers mark on the inside but some is missing and I cannot tell by what I can read who the maker is. Do you know? I assume that it was battery operated but there is no battery or wiring that is visible. I did not take the top portion apart and do not know if there is a bulb inside. The one photo that shows the lens bright was held up to the sun. The lantern is in good overall condition with some oxidation and rust as shown. Brooklyn N.Y. U.S.A. The red and green fresnel lenses are in excellent conditions with some great bubbles from when the glass was formed. They are made of galvanized sheet metal with brass or copper tops and openings on the bottom. The galvanized metal is very solid with very little areas of surface rust. nothing major. These are original vintage Lamps dating from somewhere between the 1930's to the 60's based on their websites timeline. Actual manufacture date is unknown. The lamps are 18" tall. 22" tall with the handle extended, 10" wide and 18" across the front. I purchased ... morethese lamps 28 years ago with the intention of wiring them. They've been carefully stored indoors waiting for the project to begin. I never got around to wiring them. It's time to pass them along to a new owner. Bulbs and wiring or burners are not included. Lighted Bulbs were placed inside the lamps temporarily for photographic purposes to show how the lamps may look when illuminated. The gas burners weren't with them when I acquired them. Very beautiful Antique Vintage Marine oil lamp. Has a 360 Degree Fresnel lens which seems to have no chips but. Has cool bubbles and imperfections. The oil lamp has National Marine Lamp company stamped on knob and is in good condition but, should have new wick installed. The hinge to bottom is missing and should be repaired. See picture of hinge. Lamp has a great vintage patina and would make a great addition to your collection. Measures 13 1/4 with hoop, 5 5/8" base, 3 3/4" height to lens. LL Rowe Bronze Ship Red Signal Light Symbol 190 Series Red FRESNEL LENS Works!
For your Bidding consideration is a L.L. ROWE nautical light with red fresnel lens. This is from the Series 190 group of Nautical lights used by the U.S. navy. I acquired it from a retiring Boat Motor Repair Service who had acquired it a number if years ago and was using it at night on his outdoor patio. It has a variety of markings embossed into the Bronze housing so see photos for numbers. It is 120 volt. 90 watt. It uses 6#15T7C lamps and is in great working condition. It has a heavy duty red fresnel lens with no cracks or chips. The cord, I don't believe, is not original as it would have originally been heavily wired for military use on a naval vessel in an outdoor environment but has been set up and is working. The cord has been spliced, most likely by the previous owner when setting it up for use. There is a small switch on one ... moreside for"On/ Off" When lit, the light is a cherry red color. The color in the photos is a bit muted but know it is a beautiful cherry red- much nicer than the photos reflect. I have spoken with the manufacturer and they said that this is an extremely high quality lamp- originally charged to the navy at circa $1200 per light. The light, due to the high quality of the Fresnel Lens, is visible 20-30 miles. When in use, the housing does heat up which is normal according to L.L. Rowe personnel due to the heat transfer from the lamps to the bronze housing. The light measures 9 1/2" tall x 6" wide at the base. It weighs 13 pounds pre-packed.
