It is rather large, and I believe it is made out of copper and brass, based on the way it has tarnished, but I am unsure. The burner itself, and the glass pieces appear to be in good shape, but the exterior needs to be refinished or polished. This would be an excellent project for a restoration, or just a very cool nautically themed piece to have around the house. I will be selling the second of these lanterns in a separate auction with similar details. The only difference between this one and the other is that this one has a piece of curved metal around the glass over the burner on the inside, and the glass cover is shorter. FOR SALE AN ANTIQUE 1920'S NEPTUNE NR BRASS/ COPPER OIL MARITIME SHIP LANTERN. IS IN FAIR TO GOOD CONDITION FOR IT'S AGE. SHOWS SIGNS OF WEAR FROM AGE. APPEARS TO BE ALL ORIGINAL. THERE IS SOME WELDING REPAIR DONE UNDER BURNER TO ATTACH HANDLE AND SIDE OF BURNER. NO BROKEN GLASS OR CRACKS BUT MINOR CHIPPING WHICH MAY HAVE BEEN DONE IN THE CUTTING PROCESS. THE VERY TOP ON THE COPPER HAS A DENT. THE LAMP GLASS ITSELF. WE DO NOT KNOW IF IT IS ORIGINAL. LATCH IS WORKING PROPERLY AND DOES SECURE. Vintage Copper Ship lantern Original NOT reproduction. This was on a ship! Stern Co 1974 Double light front which is rare Has a few dents- nothing major. One on the top one on the back side. Please see pictures. Has set up for 2 light bulbs- I have always used as a display on my kitchen floor in the corner. I'm assuming it needs to be re- wired if you want to use as a light.
