It is rather large, and I believe it is made out of copper and brass, based on the way it has tarnished, but I am unsure. The burner itself, and the glass pieces appear to be in good shape, but the exterior needs to be refinished or polished. This would be an excellent project for a restoration, or just a very cool nautically themed piece to have around the house. I will be selling the second of these lanterns in a separate auction with similar details. The only difference between this one and the other is that this one has a piece of curved metal around the glass over the burner on the inside, and the glass cover is shorter. NAUTICAL RED EMERGENCY SHIP LANTERN COPPER AND BRASS TABLE LAMP
Thank you for viewing this auction for is one. 1) brass and copper ship lamp converted to a table lamp. This is an old oil lamp that I believe served as a emergency light due to the red lens it has which shine 360 degrees. There are two thick heavy glass lenses on this light. The clear lens is the amplifying lens, and the inside lens is for giving the light the red color. This light is constructed of primarily copper and brass. There are also some iron components to this light, this includes the lens protectors and the two hanging brackets. The hanging brackets are used to not only hang the light vertically, but also to stabilize it from moving left to right, and front to back. There is no lamp inside of this lantern, it does no light up internally. This ship lantern appears to have been converted a long time ago; I believe at the very earliest ... moreit was made into a table lamp in the 1940’s. This is an older piece and I am unsure of the age. I am also unsure of a maker for this lamp for there are no maker marks I have been able to identify. Telling from its construction. There is a good chance this lantern is from a 19 th century ship. The condition of this lamp is old. There are multiple dents on this lantern. And appears to have been used heavily. This lamp no longer has its original oil burner, it was most likely discarded when it was converted to a table lamp. The mounting clips are still in place for accepting an oil burner. The red lens and clear reflector are intact with no cracks. The lamp is built to flex, so it does move and flex; the structure of the lamp is still sound. The lamp does work, and lights. I would suggest changing the cord if it is still desired to use as a table lamp; the cord is older, and the plug is not polarized. The copper and brass does have extensive corrosion and staining on it. Also there are a lot of dings and dents throughout. Please refer to the pictures provided to get a better sense of this items condition. This lantern measures 10” to the top of the copper vent. To the top

This antique brass/copper oil lamp is in excellent condition and has a beautiful patina. Only 2 tiny dings at the very top of the chimney about 2mm wide. It measures 13.5"H by 7" W. I can not find a makers mark. But I don't want to polish it to find out. Many antique dealers prefer brass or copper items in there natural aged state. The glass is in excellent condition, no chips or cracks and is beveled. Still has the original oil container with wick and the wick turner does rotate.

Here is something you don't see every day! For sale is a great old copper& brass lantern made by R.C. Murry& Co. Limited of Glasgow. England. It has all 3 of it's brass plaques, stating it's a Port lantern, who it's made by, and the patent numbers. The plaques have a beautiful flourish to them! It is identified as a Lamp-ads 924. The last photo shows you just how big this lantern really is, and it's BIG! It stands 25" with the handle up. 22" with it down, 15" across, and 14" deep. It was made for a Class 4 vessel, over 65' and weighs 18.5 lbs. It has a good Sherwood Burner, with both wheels working freely. The entire lantern is made up of copper. With the exception of the brass handle, plaques, flat back hanging bracket, and top lid. It has it's burner and reflector, both in good working ... morecondition. There are two small chips to the fresnel, both of which do not mar it's looks nor do anything to stop it's function. They are both exterior chips. The copper housing has one small ding at the bottom of the right hand corner of the fresnel. It is likely from the early 1930's. We acquired it along with a second lantern we were after at the time. It came from a Honolulu estate of an avid maritime collector. His main focus were for items from the RMS Queen Mary and the SS Normandie. His children said this lantern came from the Normandie. But they had no proof of that. However we did get a Letter of Provenance stating what I've said. don't know what that's worth though. Nice vintage patina on this Perkins marine ships lamp. Great decorative piece for your nautical themed home. Would make Interesting repurpose project Measures approx 16" Note dents on pictures(does not distract from piece) Interesting History from website: The story starts with Frederick Persky. Who later became known as Frederick Perkins. He was a Russian immigrant who was schooled in Germany as a machinist and tool-and-die maker. Frederick came to the United States in the early 1890's and soon became employed as a machinist for E.W. Bliss& Company in Brooklyn, New York. In the early 1900's, he and a partner began operating a business, F. Persky& Company, Lantern Manufacturer, out of the basement of his house. In 1907. Frederick's son Louis joined him in the business, and together they enlarged both the product line ... moreand the manufacturing facilities. By 1912, they had seventeen employees and made a wide range of marine lanterns and products. The business continued operating until 1913 when Frederick became president of National Marine Lamp Company. Based out of Forestville, Connecticut. A one of a kind nearly impossible to find gem that's always been free from pets and clearly is not beat up or neglected like so many others of its era. There simply isn't a comparable duplicate out there that's been cared for like this. Belonged to my father who was a USN mustang with a 37-year career serving our country in WWII. Korea and Vietnam before retiring as a Chaplain. Vintage Light Fixture Nautical Anchor Copper & Brass Unique & Rare!
Nice wall fixture. Yes it needs cleaning and polish or enjoy the patina the way it is. It appears to be mainly copper with the anchor made of brass. I am no expert on metals, but it is not metallic. Good glass, I do not see any chips or cracks.
