Some tarnish. Scuffs/etc and three brackets screwed into the base. A small ding or two that I wouldn't call dents, but you may. Approximately 10 inches across the bottom and 19 inches tall- 21 inches if you count the top handle- more if you count the bottom handle: I do not know if the oil burner works or ever was supposed to work. For sale is a vintage/antique brass and copper maritime ship's lantern made by Anchor in England. It's in great shape. Obviously used and showing normal wear and tear with lots of patina. The lantern has been retrofitted with an electrical ceramic light socket although it does not come with a cord. Beautiful globe- would be a wonderful light fixture for any collector or nautical buff. Up for sale is RARE UNMODIFIED ANTIQUE BRASS SHIP ANCHOR LANTERN. This is such a great find because as just stated it is UNMODIFIED. Meaning it has NOT been converted over to electric. This lamp features a brass body with handmade copper rivets. All the hardware(rivets. Hinges, hasps, etc) appear to be hand made/forged. The ANCHOR brass label is applied on the top section which opens to expose the burner. The hook and chain to secure the hinged top are still intact. There is also a hinged top cap for flame inspection. When you open the top cap you will see that the chimney is triple insulated. It has a Frenzel type lens which appears to be old and original glass. The oil tank and burner assembly fits snug inside the lantern. Upon removal of the burner assembly from the oil tank. The wick is new and the inside of the oil tank has no residue ... moreor oil smell, suggesting it has to have been either cleaned very thoroughly(with several areas inside the tank unreachable) or possibly never used! Even though it seems to be the latter of the two options we still say possibly due to now documentation or provenance on the lantern beyond the current owner. This lack of evidence of use is consistent with inside of the metal chimney where no obvious traces of soot can be found. The base has aspiration vents all around it. The burner's wick knob has the words"SHERWOODS LTD. B'HAM MADE IN ENGLAND" on it. Making this from the very early 1900s at the latest from what we can find on the company. We have no reason to believe that this burner insert is anything but original to the lantern. Meaning we believe the lantern to be from the same time period. If anyone knows any different please share with us. In use this lamp would have been hauled up the ship's mast with halyards. To secure it as such. Marine Nautical 1851 Ouvrard & Villars Red Globe Anchor Lamp onion copper brass
Market fresh find; Original to the mid-1800's from the French Crimean war era. This is an Ouvrard& Villars Nautical Anchor lamp; Beautiful condition, it is constructed of hammered copper with a dual-ring brass cage. Original ruby flashed red globe. Marked O V Depose on the copper. May very well have come from one of the Ironclad Steam Battleships on the Black Sea, I purchased this lantern from the estate of a very meticulous and discriminating lamp collector. This piece has undergone a no-harm electrification. Which can easily be removed. The original oil burner is wired to the underside of the chimney. The original font is in place. The bottom of the font has been painted on the underside. I can't guarantee the font won't leak, but I suspect(but can't confirm) it was painted to stop any rust. Here is a vintage nautical oil lamp labeled Anchor It is in good condition with some overall weathering to the copper. The lamp is made of copper with brass hardware and has a mint green glass globe. Pair Vintage Copper & Brass Tung Woo Anchor & Masthead Lanterns Never Used
This pair of Tung Woo lanterns came from a copper collection they have never been used. They are about 9" high without the handles. There are few dimple dings on them. There is bent sot on the back of the masthead lantern(shown in photo) that is about 1/2" long. There is also a place on the glass of the masthead lantern about 1" long. I'm not sure, I think it is a flaw in the glass, there is also a photo of it. These are beautiful lanterns. Please look at the photos and email any questions you may have about them. Makers William Harvie Co Ltr(late of Glasgow) Ships Lantern& Lighting Engr Bishop St Birmingham. 5 B.14615 This gorgeous and rare anchor light is constructed of HEAVY copper and brass. The clear glass Fresnel lens inside does have a minor crack. Barely noticeable(see pic) Please note, there are a few spots of repair on the housing as well, as show in the pics. It has been electrified and is more than likely meant to be hung, although it could look lovely on a table. It would look absolutely stunning all shined up, but I'll leave that decision to the new owner. It is believed to have been from the early 20th Century, very few of these are out there. It stands 14" tall(without handles) and 10" wide. It's a solid 28 pounds, so if you do plan to hang it, do so accordingly. Vintage Ship Lantern "Anchor" Made in England Copper Brass 19"
Awesome vintage copper and brass ship's lantern made by"Anchor" made in England. Rare and collectible! This one measures 19" high; and 7" across at the bottom. Very nice heavy piece! Has"Anchor" marked at the top. And an insignia and"made in England" on the bottom fuel container. The top brass hanger folds down, too. I found this at an estate sale near Annapolis; and it has a couple dings and there's a dent at one of the brass rings on the side(see 7th photo) Burner looks to be in great shape, the glass globe has a big crack in it and will most likely need to be replaced. I'll pack the glass globe as best as I can but cannot guarantee it won't break all the way during shipment so please know this before bidding! Nice wall fixture. Yes it needs cleaning and polish or enjoy the patina the way it is. It appears to be mainly copper with the anchor made of brass. I am no expert on metals, but it is not metallic. Good glass, I do not see any chips or cracks.
