Maritime Navigational Lanterns.The main housing is constructed of galvanized iron and ... morethe top cover is copper. However they have not been shined up. The original manufacturer was Wilcox& Crittenden& Co. There trademark was Capital W with a Capital C embossed on top of one another. The factory was in Middletown, CONN. USA. There is a photo of the Logo which appears to be embossed on brass, it is on the side, located on top of a metal sleeve, which is riveted on the lantern itself. This sleeve must have been used to slip over something to hold it secure to the ship. Both sleeves are intact and extremely secure. This embossing is very difficult to capture in a photo as the glare, and clarity of a photo so close. The lanterns stand just shy of 13" tall with the hanging loop standing up. They are made to fit in a corner. The sides measure 5" With the front curving around to meet the 2 sides. The glass itself is 5" tall and is almost 90 degrees. One lantern has fresnel green glass for the starboard, and the lantern with the fresnel red glass is for the port. The glass on both lanterns is in very good shape and have no cracks or chips. The metal round accesses to the oil chambers/wicks are both present and appear tight when screwed in. The wick chambers need cleaning, but seem to work, and even have wick left in them! We didn't attempt to light them, but knowing something about oil lanterns, don't see any reason they wouldn't work, however this isn't a guarantee. just presenting things honestly. The metal. Nowhere, on either lantern shows any sign of rust. However they are a brown color. Paint appears to be old, in some places chipping, or peeling off. There are the usual signs of true usage. Wear and tear. Overall appear to be in very good shape. I have not checked them for leakage, however on inspection, I don't see any reason they would leak. I have no idea how old they are. This was used in conjunction with another one to signal to other ship captains that the ship was not moving and not under active command of anyone. This has a great patina! This has what appears to be the original light socket and looks to be in good condition- but I'm no expert. There was once another tag welded to the top of this lantern. But probably removed when the current tag was placed. The glass lense is not cracked and the red insert looks good as well. There are expected minor dings and other blemishes that come with age and use on the ocean. This lantern weighs in at almost 20 pounds before packing. So will cost a little more to ship. The burner of this lantern slides out and on the side of it is stamped Eli Griffiths& Sons Birmingham 1914. The Clip at the top of the lantern is stamped EG& S 1916. The brass lantern is intact and has not been restored. All the parts appear to be present. The slide which covers the opening to the burner adjustment needs to be reattached. The lantern is 16" high. 8" across the back and 5" front to back. Behind the burner is a white enamel reflector which is in excellent condition. The lantern is extremely heavy.

The lamp is being offered as found for parts or refurbish or keep as is. The lamp stands 8.7/8" tall as is. The soot catcher or chimney cap is missing. The copper housing shows a lot of aged patina. There is a crack in the copper in the pierced trim that goes around the chimney(see image 9) The bottom door also has a split or crack(see image 5) The curved, green glass is in excellent condition for its age, just a few fine scratches and some dirt. This auction is for a very rare Miller brass binnacle hand lamp. The bottom removes with an oil lamp base with a simplex wick holder. It is signed E Miller Company made in USA and has a brand new wick. The oil lamp locks into the base. It has vent holes at the bottom and the top. It has a wood carrying handle and an Eisinglass/ isinglass front that is still intact. The lamp measures 8 ¼ inches with the handle up and 7 inches with the handle down and measures 2 ¾ inches in diameter. A ships binnacle lamp has no steel anywhere in it. It is made of all brass so that it would not interfere with the ships compass. This is a very rare piece, don't miss this opportunity to add this to your collection. Pair Vintage Copper Brass NEPTUNE NR Ship Lantern Lamp Nautical Maritime Cage NR
This auction is for a pair of vintage NEPTUNE NR copper and brass ship oil lamp lanterns. These lamps are in EXCELLENT estate found condition with a stunning and even patina. They are beautifully crafted from copper and brass and secured with a chain and hook in the front. These lanterns both have a badge at the top with the Neptune hallmark and NR. All of the glass is in beautiful condition(with the exception of some dust from being displayed) The globe inside is also in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. The oil lamp inside is secured to a metal wire that stays in place by sliding down two opposing corners inside. And sits very securely inside with no wobble. I do not know the age of the lanterns, and have seen only a few similar, but most of then have all brass cages(die to the reddish tint I do believe this is mostly copper) ... moreor have been polished. None have been found also with this exact badge in the same place and this stunning copper patina with the reddish copper undertones that almost glow through. This has not been cleaned or polished, but I'm sure would polish up nicely if the buyer wishes to do so. Each lantern stands 15"high without handle, and 17 1/2" tall with handle, by approx 7"wide. Up for auction today is vintage nautical lantern. Different people call these types by such names as; buoy. Piling, master head, anchor, or dock lantern/ light. I am not sure of the proper name or use for this lantern. Can you inform me? It measures 17 ½” tall. The bottom is 8” in diameter, the top is 7 ½” in diameter, the lens is 4 ¾” tall(the exposed portion) and the lens is approx 5” in diameter. The lens is a dark ruby red and I see no cracks or chips. The body is galvanized metal with the rings. Latching hardware and the top ring of bottom portion being made of brass. There is a makers mark on the inside but some is missing and I cannot tell by what I can read who the maker is. Do you know? I assume that it was battery operated but there is no battery or wiring that is visible. I did not take the top portion apart and ... moredo not know if there is a bulb inside. The one photo that shows the lens bright was held up to the sun. The lantern is in good overall condition with some oxidation and rust as shown. What a wonderful weighted and hinged brass and copper candlestick or chamberstick from the late 1800s-early 1900s! Heavy. Solid brass and copper consruction, it features a decorative handle, a copper drip pan, and an ingenius weighted and hinged shaft, which allowed the candlestick to remain upright, no matter how much the ship rolled. The base is held in place with a modern brass bolt and metal nut.the original is long gone. Beautiful, heavy, clever. Well made, and has a patina to die for. This particular candlestick came from the estate of the granddaughter of William Randolph Hearst, who owned a house in Tulsa(one of many around the world) Unsure of maker. Has the normal wear that one would expect from a piece of this age. And some minor staining. The base has two mount holes that are about 3 1/2 inches on center of each other. The globe is glass and in good condition. The light weighs over 3 pounds. You can access the bulb area by unscrewing the cage. The cage and the globe unscrew as one piece on this design. The cage screw on and off with little effort. This light has been totally rewired with all new UL-Listed parts rated for any voltage of 250 volts or less. The ... morenew bulb holder takes a normal screw in house bulb of 50 watts or less. The new wires exit the light from one of the original conduit holes. This light can be used inside or outside. It will never rust! Antique Brass and Copper "Not Under Command" Lantern
This is a beautiful lantern from the HMS Leith. Which had a long history of service, including D-Day, and can be read about in this link) The lantern bears the brass name plate of the ship and the lantern maker- M.P. Galloway Limited Manufacturers. It also has a brass plate with the Galloway crest and the number 236. Which I assume identifies the type of lantern or some type of lot number. A third identifies it as a lantern used for"SHIP NOT UNDER COMMAND. The lantern is 21"tall(26" with the handle) and 13.25" wide with the side rings. As you can see from the pictures. The lantern still works, and I included angles that show the broken glass, plus the other side where the broken glass is not noticeable. If you were to use this for lighting, you would probably set aside the red insert to enjoy the warm glow through the ... moreclear, thick outer glass. I can picture this lantern on a covered porch, hanging from a beam in a timber frame home, or being used as a showpiece in a nautical themed setting. Vintage - Anchor Lamp - Brass Finish
Approx. 11 3/4" tall from the bottom of the base to the top of the light socket. Base measures approx. 6" and anchor is approx. 4 1/2" tall. The brass finish is worn. A magnet will not stick to the anchor and socket. But it will the other parts. The cord is old, I did plug it in and it works. You may want to rewire with a new cord.
