Maritime Navigational Lanterns.The main housing is constructed of galvanized iron and ... morethe top cover is copper. However they have not been shined up. The original manufacturer was Wilcox& Crittenden& Co. There trademark was Capital W with a Capital C embossed on top of one another. The factory was in Middletown, CONN. USA. There is a photo of the Logo which appears to be embossed on brass, it is on the side, located on top of a metal sleeve, which is riveted on the lantern itself. This sleeve must have been used to slip over something to hold it secure to the ship. Both sleeves are intact and extremely secure. This embossing is very difficult to capture in a photo as the glare, and clarity of a photo so close. The lanterns stand just shy of 13" tall with the hanging loop standing up. They are made to fit in a corner. The sides measure 5" With the front curving around to meet the 2 sides. The glass itself is 5" tall and is almost 90 degrees. One lantern has fresnel green glass for the starboard, and the lantern with the fresnel red glass is for the port. The glass on both lanterns is in very good shape and have no cracks or chips. The metal round accesses to the oil chambers/wicks are both present and appear tight when screwed in. The wick chambers need cleaning, but seem to work, and even have wick left in them! We didn't attempt to light them, but knowing something about oil lanterns, don't see any reason they wouldn't work, however this isn't a guarantee. just presenting things honestly. The metal. Nowhere, on either lantern shows any sign of rust. However they are a brown color. Paint appears to be old, in some places chipping, or peeling off. There are the usual signs of true usage. Wear and tear. Overall appear to be in very good shape. I have not checked them for leakage, however on inspection, I don't see any reason they would leak. I have no idea how old they are. This auction is for a very rare Miller brass binnacle hand lamp. The bottom removes with an oil lamp base with a simplex wick holder. It is signed E Miller Company made in USA and has a brand new wick. The oil lamp locks into the base. It has vent holes at the bottom and the top. It has a wood carrying handle and an Eisinglass/ isinglass front that is still intact. The lamp measures 8 ¼ inches with the handle up and 7 inches with the handle down and measures 2 ¾ inches in diameter. A ships binnacle lamp has no steel anywhere in it. It is made of all brass so that it would not interfere with the ships compass. This is a very rare piece, don't miss this opportunity to add this to your collection. This auction is for a pair of vintage NEPTUNE NR copper and brass ship oil lamp lanterns. These lamps are in EXCELLENT estate found condition with a stunning and even patina. They are beautifully crafted from copper and brass and secured with a chain and hook in the front. These lanterns both have a badge at the top with the Neptune hallmark and NR. All of the glass is in beautiful condition(with the exception of some dust from being displayed) The globe inside is also in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. The oil lamp inside is secured to a metal wire that stays in place by sliding down two opposing corners inside. And sits very securely inside with no wobble. I do not know the age of the lanterns, and have seen only a few similar, but most of then have all brass cages(die to the reddish tint I do believe this is mostly copper) ... moreor have been polished. None have been found also with this exact badge in the same place and this stunning copper patina with the reddish copper undertones that almost glow through. This has not been cleaned or polished, but I'm sure would polish up nicely if the buyer wishes to do so. Each lantern stands 15"high without handle, and 17 1/2" tall with handle, by approx 7"wide. Up for auction today is vintage nautical lantern. Different people call these types by such names as; buoy. Piling, master head, anchor, or dock lantern/ light. I am not sure of the proper name or use for this lantern. Can you inform me? It measures 17 ½” tall. The bottom is 8” in diameter, the top is 7 ½” in diameter, the lens is 4 ¾” tall(the exposed portion) and the lens is approx 5” in diameter. The lens is a dark ruby red and I see no cracks or chips. The body is galvanized metal with the rings. Latching hardware and the top ring of bottom portion being made of brass. There is a makers mark on the inside but some is missing and I cannot tell by what I can read who the maker is. Do you know? What a wonderful weighted and hinged brass and copper candlestick or chamberstick from the late 1800s-early 1900s! Heavy. Solid brass and copper consruction, it features a decorative handle, a copper drip pan, and an ingenius weighted and hinged shaft, which allowed the candlestick to remain upright, no matter how much the ship rolled. The base is held in place with a modern brass bolt and metal nut.the original is long gone. Beautiful, heavy, clever. Well made, and has a patina to die for. This particular candlestick came from the estate of the granddaughter of William Randolph Hearst, who owned a house in Tulsa(one of many around the world) Unsure of maker. Today for your consideration we have a Beautiful Ship Nautical Oil/Kerosene Hang Lantern with five panels of glass(2 Red and 2 Green and 1 clear) incase in Brass with Port and Starboard embossed on each side respectively. Has a handle on the top to hang. And on the bottom it fits into slots to hold a kerosene or oil with wick. Top opens. There are no nicks or chips in the glass but some loss to color on the red and green see photos. Extremely great piece and would be great in your home for lighting or patio or boat. Air holes in the base for oxygen. Very large it measures 12 and 1/4" tall. The base measures 8 and 3/4" across the center and around the middle 27" Weighs 3.12 pounds and due to fragile nature and proper shipping I am adding 2 pounds for shipping. Rare Ship's Cone-top Bird Cage Whale Oil Lantern. Tufts 1860 Brass Ships Lantern
Extremely Rare American Pat. dated March 13. 1860 Brass Ships Lantern! Same Patent date as Tufts Lanterns made in Boston and probably a Rare Tufts Lantern as shown. The date is on the bottom of the heavy glass Globe which is original to the Lamp. All Brass and in the early Bird Cage form. Complete with original Brass Whale Oil Burner, see photo#5. The Punched Tin Cone-top is fantastic, see photo#2. I see no damage or repairs and it measures 17 1/2" tall and 21" if you include the Ring Handle. 9" in diameter across the bottom. Quite heavy about 10 lbs. due mainly to the heavy glass Globe. A very rare piece of nautical History with 150 years of patina, never polished! Huge vintage Pauluhn Nautical Pier lights. stamped- cat no. 1453 Great Nautical heavy duty design. Believed to be solid brass- Will not stick to a magnet. These are mounted to bases manufactured by- Kenilworth N.J. and read Suitable for wet locations. We have not attempted to clean or polish these at all. One of the red or off red glass globes has 6 chips on its fins which are hard to notice because of the large size. The other red globe which is a slightly different tone then the other has only one chip on a fin. Both globes have some minor flea biting on the fins and scratching/ wear throughout from age and outdoor use. The brass or metal has scratching scuffing etc. and one of them has a little chunk missing shown in photograph# 3. These will need a detailed cleaning and restoration of all wiring before they can be used. The globes have ... moresomewhat of a opalescence tone and may have been painted at some point but are absolutely originally RED glass. Please note these need full restoration ASIS as shown. U.S. Navy World War II Masthead Brass Nautical Ship Light Must See!!
U. S. NAVY WW II MASTHEAD LIGHT This great light is waterproof and sported 6 x 15 volts for very bright lights. Why 6 you ask? Because the light was positioned on top of the mast. Making it hard to reach to replace a bulb during battle conditions, and if some burned out the others carried on! I have no idea how the bulbs were powered or how the wiring worked. You can take out the bulb sockets in the light and it has a pretty deep cavity to either place a battery or add your own lighting. I did not make any holes or try to adapt it for a more modern light. Large Danish brass kerosene naval ship lantern. Labelled"Fregatten Jylland" No 6051. H. 63 cm(25" D. 30 cm(12" The lantern weighs 7 pounds. This lamp is a reproduction of a lantern found on the ship. With a funnel for oil. It has a shade of bubbled glass protected by brass rods. And has a clear inner chimney. The wick is adjustable. The shade can be raised and lowered to service the burner. There are five brass rods which can be linked to form a chain for hanging the lantern. Jylland" is the longest wooden ship in the world today. It has traditional sailing ship rigging as well as a steam engine. And is a perfect representative for the transition from sail to steam power. It took part in the battle of Helgoland in 1864 in the naval action against the Austrian-Prussian fleet. Rare Solid Brass Ship's Binnacle Lantern Lamp c 1800's

Made in England for the colony of Newfoundland and used I believe on the coastal boats that delivered goods and services around the coast of Newfoundland before the present roads were built. As you can see from the pictures this was a working light used to light the compass on the sailing boats. The brass is very worn. The handle which is brass with an insert are skewed and have been like this since I acquired them and I would guess its from heavy usage in all kinds of weather The lantern is all original with original doors and clasps and glass. It also has the original oil burner with ceramic ... morewick holder. The wick turner is very stiff and probably needs oil. The burner is signed and trademarked Barton's(England) 9 3/4” from base to top of handle the base is not square but rather a circle with a flat front measuring approx 2 7/8 from front to back and 3 2/8 from side to side. We are located in Canada midway between Ottawa and Kingston in Ontario just one hour from the New York border Round trip to Ogdensburg New York is 120 miles round trip by car. Please be patient. Two beautiful. Original brass ship's lanterns from Germany. These lamps were converted to electric many years ago, and they work well. Size is 12" tall by 5" diameter. Nice patina, complete, and no damage to glass. These are very heavy lamps. The tag reads"JH Peters& Bey, Hamburg" We came across these at an estate sale many years ago, and inside one of them was a 3x5 card reading"Removed from a wrecked ship being salvaged in Taiwan in 1972" Hangers on top move freely. Antique MARITIME NAUTICAL SHIP LANTERN Red Glass Copper & Brass
Up for bids is a great marine piece- an antique ship lantern. This nautical lantern is made of brass and copper metals and a beautiful piece of red onion glass. It has a sloped top which keeps water and rain from the inside of it. The red onion glass is encompassed by protective brass pieces which prevent it from being damaged when it swings. This lantern also has both the top pivoting brass hanger. AND the bottom one. I see very few of these lanterns that were made with these, and if so they no longer have the bottom one. At some point someone has removed the kerosene drum/holder and started the process of making this electrical. I have not attempted to complete this. It is fitted with a very simple bulb holder and a turning switch which still turns and clicks. This has in no means detracted from the beauty of this lantern and will make ... moreit simpler to electrify if someone chooses to do so. This lantern is in fantastic vintage condition. It has wear associated and common with its age but overall really nice! If someone chooses to polish this it will shine like new. The glass is in very good condition. It has some wear marks. Rough spots, or minor chipping on the rims/edges but no breaks. The wear is only from where it is fitted into the copper ends. These marks are not seen or noticable when the lantern is put together. The glass itself has some air bubbles but only visible upon close examination. The sloped top has several small dents in it. The two copper caps look very good and I do not see any dents or tears in them. The brass hangers and glass protectors have only age patina to them but otherwise perfect. The measurements of this lantern is 25 1/2" when hanging from the top of the hanging attachment to the tip of the bottom attachment. The glass is approx. 6 1/2" high by 8 1/2" around. I've taken this apart to show the insides of the pieces and the area where the electrical work was started. Also. When I ship it will come separated like this. Some tarnish. Scuffs/etc and three brackets screwed into the base. A small ding or two that I wouldn't call dents, but you may. Approximately 10 inches across the bottom and 19 inches tall- 21 inches if you count the top handle- more if you count the bottom handle: I do not know if the oil burner works or ever was supposed to work. English 19th century all brass ships lantern. Best we have ever seen. Constructed with superb quality. Heavy weighing over 5 lbs. All original and intact. Great patina. Glass is intact and without cracks or chips. Marked on one side with 4. The other side with 5 and an impressed crown with the letter M under it. Lantern is 11 1/2 inches tall. 7 1/2 inches wide. Chain hangs down 14.5 inches.

Antique Brass Electrified Hanging Ship Lantern Lamps Blue & Red Glass Lenses
This is a set of two hanging ship lantern lamps that once held a reservoir for oil or kerosene but have been electrified for a standard light bulb. Both are entirely made from bright shiny brass and have glass lenses of red and blue. On the top of both lanterns is stamped"Port Classes II& III" The one with the red lens is in excellent condition and the one with the blue lens is in good condition but looks like it has had some welding repair done along the top seam one side. Both have doors that open for easy bulb replacement. The both latch closed well. They are wired together with a 7' cord(can be hung up to 7' apart) and have a 10 1/2 foot cord with a plug coming from one lamp. The cords are not very old and are in very good condition but both have some sticky residue near the bottom of the lamps where they were taped ... moreto hold them in place. Each lamp measures 7 1/2" x 5 1/2" x 10" with handle down and 15" with handle up. These lamps will be packed well with care and insured.

Up for bid fresh from a local estate in this incredible Brass Ship's Kerosene or Oil Lantern with Green Glass by Starboard. This thing is LARGE! It measures 14" tall and 7" Diameter amd weighs about 5 lbs. Not sure if it is an original or reproduction. If it is a repro. It is a good one because it is highly detailed with cross bars and green glass(it has an outer pane of clear glass and an inner pane of green, it is not thick green glass) It also has a functioning oil lantern that can be taken out fron the bottom. It also has a heavy duty swivel handle, and what appears to be brackets that it could hang from the wall with. This would look great in your Nautical collection, don't let it get away!
