Lantern has maker marks of"S.Co.Ltd. 1941" Im not sure if this is a ship lantern, railway lantern or what- I dont know much about these. Lantern is in great condition and all pieces seem to be there. Lantern measures 20" tall with handle extended up. The wick key is attached to side and wick turn knob works good. No broken glass on paynes and side door works good. This one appears to be a Viking but I cannot find any markings on this lantern or the lamp itself. It is complete. The wick is inside of the oil tank as shown. Has a black wooden handle on the top. The door opens and closes shut properly. Looks to have never been lit. There is one small dent in the side of the top. otherwise no damage. Measures about 6 1/2" X 7" X 16" tall including the hanlde. It is marked"No. L688" and"Not Under Command" The lantern is mostly made of brass and copper. The glass in the middle is in good shape with no chips or cracks and has a red lens inside signifying that it would have hung on the port side. Overall it is in good shape except for a dent in the copper lid that looks like it could be easily popped out. Comes complete with the removable oil reservoir and and burner. Antique Brass / Glass Marine Oil Lantern Case- Nice Nautical Decor
A nice old brass and glass oil lantern with a brass cage over glass design. This originally held a small brass oil lamp which I do not have. The lantern has all four sides. The side that opens does not have the original hinge. When at rest on a table the door stays shut just fine. The brass edge that held the hinge pin slips inside and. When you close the hasp, the door stays in place. You may want to put a hinge on it to get it to swing open like it is supposed to. Either way, perfectly serviceable as is. We use it outdoors with an outdoor candle and it has a nice nautical look. It has a wood and brass handle for carrying. Overall in good condition but could use a good polishing and a cleaning. The glass is all good but one small corner has some loss on the inside(see close up photo) Obviously there are some minor dings and bends in the ... morebrass. Rare Wm. Porter Brass Maritime Marine Steamboat Binnacle Whale Oil Lamp Lantern
Just out of a local house is this Rare antique William Porter's Son and Co. binnacle lamp. The lamp is all brass and has a half round design. It is fitted with its original whale oil burner. These were made and advertised for use in steamboats of the period. The lamp measures 9 1/2 inches tall and 6 inches wide. The front measures 6 7/8 inches tall and 6 inches wide. It is in excellent condition for its age with only some lines in the brass cap on top and the font looks like it may have leaked. See photos. The lamp is nicely marked with the makers tag of William Porter's Son and Co. 194 Water Street New York. A similar example is pictured in William Porter's and Sons 1891 catalog and lists this one as the large size model. Here is a beautiful. Nicely patinaed, oil lamp, made by Weem's& Platt. This lantern is numbered, early make, and came off a 68' Coranado sailboat that has sailed over seas and back many times. It's in excellent shape and can be polished if need be, however I don't suggest it. It comes with a gimbal mount for leveling the lamp while boating. Vintage nautical oil lantern. It has a really cool cage that covers the entire outside of the lantern to protect the glass. There is a wooden handle and the oil container and wick assembly was made by Wedge. It has not been polished or cleaned up at all since I bought it so all the patina is still on it. Overall condition of lantern: NO DAMAGE/ Old brass lantern with old age brass patina along with some very minor issues of some oxidation ... morespots on it in a few small areas such as under its top hood located just around its top smoke stake area and a small little bit also around its top handle mounts. Overall its a pretty clean brass lantern/ Also I think these light oxidation areas will clean off nicely with a small tiny brass wirer brush or some very fine steel wool/ I left lantern alone and as is over the years with its old ageing patina/ the old wick turns up& down nicely/ The inside of this old lantern looks to be pretty clean and it does not appear to have much aging. Overall this old lantern looks to be very well made and very well kept over the years. Lantern has hardly NO visible lead solder on it only just a little bit around its door hinges and oil tank ring handle all welds on it are factory done/ Also the lantern looks to be mostly bolted together with little small brass factory screws and little brass nuts: such as bolted on its brass& wooden handle and its bolted on brass smoke stack hood covering and it has bolted on brass wire grating also. This Vintage Bulpitt lantern is complete but the isinglass or mica chimney is slightly damaged and the font is slightly off center.May have been dropped.This is an antique Bulpitt 1941 ceiling oil burning fixture or maritime oil lamp. It is made from iron, brass and porcelain and has a wonderful patina from age.the removable burner has lockable notches and knobs to hold it into place and a key to adjust the flame on the side which hangs on a chain.there is also a place on one of the two arms that the key can be held.The top opens on a brass hinge and locks shut at an ornate brass hinge, which has a removable pin held by a chain.It has normal ware from age and works great,the lamp alone measures about 13 1/2 inches up and down by 10 3/4 inches wide. Inside oil lamp comes out to refill etc. Top unlatches as well too(as pictured) There is an imperfection(which looks like a chip. But you cannot"feel" it by touch) on the actually tiny hurricane glass piece surrounding the lamp piece itself. Residue left on the top"latch" of the piece from previous burning. It was built in the early 1900’s by Perkins Marine Lamp& Hardware Corp. And has their name, city, state, and the“PERKO” trademark stamped on the belt clip. Also, BOAT SIGNAL” in a very large font) is stamped just above hinged door. This lantern features two adjustable handles, belt clip, 3” round clear bullseye lens, and a rotating shutter. Included is the original brass oil font tank and burner, which has“PERKO U.S.A. signed on the wick adjusting knob. Overall, the lamp measures 8½” tall x 3½” wide x 5” deep and weighs two pounds. Originally this unit was zinc plated and painted black. The black paint is almost gone and the zinc plating ... moreis still visible in the non-ware areas. 1920's Maritime Nautical Neptune Oil Lamp Brass Ships Lantern
Vintage 1920's maritime brass oil burning ships lantern. I have not polished it but it seems to be in great condition. There is no corrosion to the brass and the glass sides and chimney have no chips or cracks and there is just a small dent on the top. It is missing the wick. Please look at pictures closely. It measures about 15" tall without the handle extended and 6.5" wide. The plate in front is engraved Neptune.
