Large Anchor Brass Lantern Copper 19" lamp light ship nautical nautical marine
Some tarnish. Scuffs/etc and three brackets screwed into the base. A small ding or two that I wouldn't call dents, but you may. Approximately 10 inches across the bottom and 19 inches tall- 21 inches if you count the top handle- more if you count the bottom handle: I do not know if the oil burner works or ever was supposed to work. Unlike many of these lanterns this one still has the original Perko lamp inside as shown in pictures. The sliding hatch mechanism still works on this piece. It was used as a display piece in the house and they had a screw in the base of the signal to hold the sliding hatch open. The electric cord needs to be replaced. No cracks or chips in the lens, no dents and cage is complete and intact. Bottom is open for light. There are a couple of paint drips on it, see photos. Antique Brass / Glass Marine Oil Lantern Case- Nice Nautical Decor
A nice old brass and glass oil lantern with a brass cage over glass design. This originally held a small brass oil lamp which I do not have. The lantern has all four sides. The side that opens does not have the original hinge. When at rest on a table the door stays shut just fine. The brass edge that held the hinge pin slips inside and. When you close the hasp, the door stays in place. You may want to put a hinge on it to get it to swing open like it is supposed to. Either way, perfectly serviceable as is. We use it outdoors with an outdoor candle and it has a nice nautical look. It has a wood and brass handle for carrying. Overall in good condition but could use a good polishing and a cleaning. The glass is all good but one small corner has some loss on the inside(see close up photo) Obviously there are some minor dings and bends in the ... morebrass. Just out of a local house is this Rare antique William Porter's Son and Co. binnacle lamp. The lamp is all brass and has a half round design. It is fitted with its original whale oil burner. These were made and advertised for use in steamboats of the period. The lamp measures 9 1/2 inches tall and 6 inches wide. The front measures 6 7/8 inches tall and 6 inches wide. It is in excellent condition for its age with only some lines in the brass cap on top and the font looks like it may have leaked. See photos. This Vintage Brass Marine Lantern is marked English Made on the wick adjuster. It measures 16 1/2 by 7 3/4 inches. It is hand crafted with rivets and solder. The work shows very good quality. It is in very good condtion with a couple of very small hard to find dents. The top and the globe unscrew to fill the tank. Brass Anchor Lantern Columbia River Lightship LV-88, Meteorite Marine Lamp Gift?
This"Meteorite" 3M" anchor light was removed from the US Coast Guard Lightship LV-88 by her last owner. The body of this lamp is a brass or copper alloy by the look of it and the original fresnel lens is present. There are galvanized iron wire hangers top and bottom to raise and secure the light on board ship. The original burner is present along with plenty of soot and in general it is just as it was when last used. Overall condition is good. No cracks or broken joints, but there are three fairly large dents and various small ones as typical of a lantern used on a ship for years. The lens is in very good condition with the exception of one area of chipping about 1.5" long as shown in the photo. The lens a good quality casting with a trademark of three"G"s within a pyramid. In my opinion this is typical of the ... morekind of wear you see on these lanterns, particularly anchor lights which were frequently hauled up and down for lighting and extinguishing. I have not asked. But I can probably get a letter or note from the man who owned the ship attesting to the provenance of this lantern. I do not promise that to the buyer as I have not asked, just occurred to me while writing this) but I think he would probably not mind doing so. In any even, I guarantee the provenance 100% This would make a wonderful gift for a collector of marine antiques or a former lightship crewman etc. A coppersmith or silversmith could remove the dents quite easily in my opinion. And of course polishing would an option. If the buyer wishes, I can arrange to have this soda-blasted at the buyer's cost. This removes all soot, dirt and oxidization and yet does not stipple or affect the surface of the metal or glass in any way. This treatment is an excellent preparation for display or further cleaning or polishing. This will be very carefully packed in box at least 16x16x24. Weighing at least 22lbs. Shipping is at cost. Antique nautical marine lantern brass fresnel lens lamp
Up for bids is a wonderful old lamp from a local estate. It stands about 10 1/4" tall not including the ring on top. It measures about 5 1/2" wide. The lamp was electrified at some pint long ago. The original burner was removed and a porcelain socket was installed in its place. The cord. Switch and plug are all in good shape. The socket takes a standard base light bulb. It comes with a mounting bracket attached to a pine board. The board measures about 10 5/8"x 6" The board is varnished and has nicely chamfered edges. The bracket does not look original to the lantern, but does a good job and holds the lantern snugly in place. I have used this lamp on a table as well as on the wall. It makes a great accent light. A small tag is on the top of it with the name of the company, and the top also has a serial number on it. This is probably a marine lamp, originally made of copper and brass and painted black on the outside. This has a heavy glass Fresnel lens that goes all the way around the source of light inside, which is currently an electrical light bulb, which we believe was a later addition to this piece. The electrical cord has been cut and tied in a knot, so it would need to be rewired, or you can easily remove the socket. The swing handle is made of heavy wrought iron. This lantern, which stands approx. 11.25" tall and 7.5" in diameter, has been put to work in its past, and shows scars of close encounters with various dings and bends. This would be a great candidate for cleaning and restoration, but we couldn't find any other examples of this particular lamp, so we are calling this rare. Good Luck! But you cannot"feel" it by touch) on the actually tiny hurricane glass piece surrounding the lamp piece itself. Residue left on the top"latch" of the piece from previous burning.
