Burner stamped THE NATIONAL MARINE LAMP CO. metal plate on the flat back side has a patent date of APRIL 1ST 1913. 10" tall to the top of the ring on top, 4 3/4" wide, 4 1/2" deep, galvanized metal. The burner is rusted through and is missing one of two metal tabs that held it in place. The metal lantern shows areas of surface rust but is solid and not flimsy in any way, ding on the cupola where the ring is mounted, both pieces of glass in good condition. It would be simple to electrify or even easier to place a battery op light inside and enjoy the colored glass. Pr Ship Boat Oil Lantern Light Lamp Marine Division Artistic Brass Bronze Wks NY
Offered for your consideration is this nice PAIR of kerosene oil lights. Made by the Marine-Division of the Artistic Brass and Bronze Works New York NY. Each light has a makers tag attached to the front of the base. Both lights look to be pretty complete with oil burner and chimneys still there. Sorry no wall mounting brackets. I am not sure if the wicks are still in them. The knob that raises and lowers the wick is very hard to turn on both lanterns. I think the wick mechanism needs to be cleaned. There is a very minor amount of corrosion on the tops of the bases. Each lantern measures about 18" tall to the top of the handle. Base measures about 7" across. Vintage Brass Wilcox Crittenden Conn Ship Boat Light Lantern Lamp Red & Green
I do not know how old this lantern is. I think that it is old enough to be considered vintage or possibly antique. The oval plate on the back of it reads. Wilcox, Crittenden& Co. Inc. Middletown, Conn. U.S.A. It appears to be brass. Most of the photos make the metal look redder than it actually is. The photos where the metal looks like it has a very slight greenish tint are closer to representing the actual color. I see where the close-up of the hole where the burner goes makes the edges look like maybe the metal is not brass. In real life. That is not the case. The edges look like brass. A magnet will not stick to any of the lantern and I believe that it is solid brass. I have provided a photo of the bottom being held up to a light to show how it might look when illuminated. Not including the ring at the top. It measures about 9 ½ ... moreinches high. The ring at the top adds about 1 3/4 inches. It weighs about 2 pounds 3.5 ounces. The divider is removable. The condition is much like you see it in the photos. The burner is missing. Otherwise. It is generally in excellent condition. The tarnish is a little uneven and there is a little green oxidation on the back that you can see in a photo. I have provided a close-up of a bend in the edge of the hole for the burner. I do not know if it should be there or not. A close-up shows a small shallow depression just below the seam on the chimney. I do not know if it was made that way or not. Otherwise, are no dents in the metal or breaks or cracks in the glass. The inside and a little of the outside of the glass could use some cleaning. It looks like there is some soot on the inside of the top part. There is a little of some kind of dark hard gunk on the bottom that you can see in the photo of the bottom. Otherwise, it is fine and as shown. My photos should give you a good idea of its general condition. I guarantee this lantern to be as described and represented by my photos. This is a great Perkins"PERKO" Marine lantern or bow light. The lantern is about 18" tall counting the handle. The lens is heavy red glass and can be seen from all sides(360 degrees) The lantern works off of oil or kerosene. The reservoir and wick are in tack and working. The Perkins metal tag is still in place(too dark to get into photo) There are some small nicks and I can see what looks like brass under the black paint. Antique ship nautical boat electric lamp light. Brass bronze coppper? Oakford
Up for auction to U.S. customers only is an old ship's light with Fresnel glass(no chips or cracks to glass) It stands 15 inches tall and the wire cage is 8 inches across. I am not sure if the primary metal is brass. Copper or bronze- or a combination-but a magnet doesn't stick to it. It is very heavy. It is made by Oakford. There is a light bulb socket inside but it probably isn't original and, without the cord plug, I can't test it. If it was originally electric powered, then the wire outlet on the side looks like it held a much larger power cord. The lid screws onto the top for access to the inside. I'm not sure how it was used on board the vessel- some other listings refer to it as a mast light, others describe it for use on dock pilings, others say it lit the passageways on the ship. If anyone knows for sure, let ... moreme know and I'll add it to the listing. Overall it seems in very good condition with a few relatively minor scratches to the lower finish and, of course, the green discoloration which some people call patina and want it left on the piece so I didn't try to clean up that section(new owner can do that) I don't know anything else about this item so please ask questions. The brass base is marked twice, once with a US and anchor Navy mark and the second being an overlapping USN and the number 129. The cage is marked 4594-L-7 with an R on the top of the cage. the glass is marked G. B. Inc Type H 2034- Inside there's no socket, but the holes to mount one are still in there in good shape, just need to drop one in there and go for it its about 10 1/2" from the bottom of the mounting bracket to the top of the cage. About 5 3/4" from edge to edge on the mounting bracket. The mounting holes are about 1/2" in diameter. I'm no lighting expert. I don't know anything about these as they were found in an estate clean out. I was told they are Perko lamps but found no markings- please do your own homework. Both look to have been rewired based on the 12v sticker inside. Now they have 110v wiring, one is missing a plug. Look to be made out of brass and galvanized, and the exterior of the galvanized is painted a flat black. Both lenses appear to be in great shape and are stamped'Perkins C/L 3 Side' and'FIC259 Mould No 3' They are approx 12" x 6" x 6" each and weigh about 3 3/4 lbs each. Nice pair of vintage Ship lights. Selling as is. Can use a good polishing. Will try to describe as best as I can. Copper lights with bronze hardware/signage. Marked STUURBOORD and BAKBOORD. Thick Red and Blue glass. Inside is a label for DHR( Den Haan Rotterdam) Outside is marked MADE IN HOLLAND. Electrified. Tested and working fine. Not sure if these were oil lamps at one time.
