I cannot find any others to compare it to on ebay and there are no markings on the light other than on the socket inside the lamp and on the side as shown are the letters P&O. I am not sure if this was a gas type light or not. Although it has a socket where a bulb or something would have fit but on the side of the light it looks like a flint or sparker. The light will need the chrome trim cleaned.Sorry I am not much help here, please see the pictures and maybe someone out there can tell me more. The works are mounted on a nice piece of oak and there are exposed wires etc on the back. It appears the glass is missing however the clip holder to hold the glass guard in is in the metal hood. The metal hood is hinged and has holes to let the heat escape. The light measures 11" long x 5" wide and weighs unpackaged 3-1/2 pounds.At the top of the light is a knob that can be turned to control the brightness i am guessing. I will combine items to save on shipping expenses, but please contact me for shipping rates as they vary depending on location, and the rates shown are only a ball park and apply only to Canada not including postal tax. The lamp stays level at any angle. It also has wear to the finish with corrosion on several spots. So study the pictures carefully. Although most of the piece is made of brass I suspect the shade is a different metal, perhaps copper. I have not tried lighting the lamp(no oil) so I can't say how well it works. F H LOVELL& CO.Antique Brass Nautical Ships Lantern late 1800's lamp. This lantern looks great! The glass is thick and very old. There are no flaws.Chips or cracks in the glass. I was going to electrify this lantern but it would not go with any of our other decor.Just a couple of slight dents in the brass from use. Right now there is no means by which to light this lantern. I dropped in a light bulb to show off the color of the glass when illuminated. This is a great piece of history. F H Lovell started around the civil war era. It made marine lanterns primarily. By the early 1920's the name was changed because the company merged with a railroad lantern company so this lantern was most likely manufactured around 1880. The lantern is 10 inches tall(14 inches tall with handle) and the width is 9 inches in diameter.

Antique Nautical Marine Oil Lantern to start a new paragraph use- This is a great example of an antique marine oil lantern. It's one of the best ones I've seen. The main body ~ top/bottom is free of dents. The hanger and tie downs are intact. The wires or cage is there and in good condition. The glass is free of chips on the outside, has some of the little flea bite size around the rim on the bottom inside like they all do. And the bottom oil lamp part is there, the hinge works and it stays closed when you hold it up. I don't see a mark on the glass, but this looks like a Perkins lantern. At one time had a finish on it ~ I have left this, it does chip off if you care to totally remove it and just have that old zinc/tin look, but right now it has great patina! We are offering a rare antique nautical lantern made by Eli Griffiths& Sons of Birmingham. England! This large all-weather lantern was likely made for maritime use in the late 19th or early 20th century and held a single large candle protected behind five removable panes of glass that each measure 3 1/2" x 8" It is an unusually large and durable design that is typical of use in industry. The lantern stands 13 1/2" in height(17 1/2" with the wooden handle raised) and 7 7/16" in diameter at the base. It weighs 4 lbs, 12 oz. The metal is copper in color but is magnetic and so most likely tin. The hinged lid with a lockable clasp opens and closes smoothly, and reveals the interior black paint to be in very good condition. The mount that holds the candle has a slit in the side that allows the excess wax to flow out, ... moreand the candle to be burned all the way down. this lot contains a Vintage Brass PERKO Marine Nautical ship RED pole Lantern Early 1900s. it has been modified to electric a long time ago. It was wired for ship use as it has a ground wire as well? it has a very thick red glass with a few chips& cracks from use& age. nothing that compromises it's usage or condition. it weighs 11 pounds& is 10" x 6" the light itself has been tested& works. it has not been cleaned or polished by us, although it looks like someone took scouring pad or steel wool to some areas, none of which has caused any permanent or bad damage, but you can see these areas in pictures. the one crack we found is only on the inside of glass& can only be seen when held up to light& spun til found. This auction is for an antique ships lantern with a makers label that reads R C Murray limited 37 Cavendish SI Glasgow. Which is in Scotland. This was a working lantern and has seen some use. It has been lovingly repaired and shows some tarnish. I have tried to show all this in the pictures. I have not attempted to clean it or change the batina. It stands 18" tall. It is missing one pane of glass which could be easily replaced. This is a very unique and collectible nautical item, very rare to find in this good condition because these lanterns were used at sea and exposed to salt conditions over long periods of time.

See picture#3. The lamp stands 15" tall and is 7" in diameter at the base. Copper construction. Features 2 tie down hooks at the base. Also has hook on the top cover. There are several metal"arms" that protect the globe. One of these is missing the top screw. See second to last picture. This is a dry cell battery operated lamp. It appears the necessary wires are in place. Pair of Antique of Perko Nautical Lamps DESCRIPTION Perko from Brooklyn. New York. These pieces are made out of galvanized steel and an oil canister. They also have red and green glass lenses on them. CONDITION Good Condition: but quite a bit of age and use related wear. These pieces are in all original condition with some visible age to them. The base oil lantern piece had pegs that I assume held it to the light assembly when rotated but these are worn down and do not hold it in place while hung. There are a couple small chips in the glass. The glass globe is upside down. There is a screw missing off the back. There is no lamp shade. The lamp shade holder is loose. The dimensions(without the lamp extension) are about 16" to the top of the handle. It is about 10.5" deep and 10.5" wide.

This listing is for an UNUSUAL ANTIQUE PERKO NAUTICAL MARINE SHIP BOW LANTERN WITH BLUE AND RED Globes. I cannot find any markings but most of these were made by the famous Perko Marine Lantern Company of Brooklyn. New York. This handsome old lamp has a brass top with ring. Two separate red and blue GLOBES with divider, and a hanger on the back. It is about 10" tall to the top of hanger and 8" wide at the divider. This would be a great addition to any lantern collection. Decor or it would make a TERRIFIC gift. Pair of 2- Old Brass ship lanterns. Made by the PERKINS MARINE LAMP CORP. out of Brooklyn New York. Brass Has a beautiful natural aged patina. The original glass lens is starting to turn a very slight amethyst color. The lanterns inside were made by E. MILLER Co. And are marked. Look at the pictures closely. This is exactly the way I found them. I think they would polish up nicely. They measure about 17-1/2" tall(including the bail) and each weighs close to 9 pounds. In excellent condition. And would clean up nicely if you choose to do so. Both show expected wear. And have a few dings. Overall in Very Good Condition.

2 ANTIQUE BRASS SHIP MARINE NAUTICAL LANTERNS ELECTRIC LAMP BIRDCAGE PERKINS
I apologize for the length but I wanted to be thorough. Up for sale are two antique nautical oil lanterns that were converted for electrical use. After some Internet research I found a match for these lanterns. They are not stamped but identically match the Perkins Marine Lamp Corporation models made during 1916 to 1931. These were considered a"standing light" and were used aboard US Naval torpedo boats. Battle ships and destroyers of the WW1 era, according to"Lanterns That Lit Our World" book 2 page 120 by Anthony Hobson. Size is 17.5 inches tall and about 9 pounds each. These may or may not have been used in that capacity but they due seem genuine even thought they are not stamped with a company name. In any case as you can see one is red and the other is green. The coloring does not seem to be original according to ... morethe research but you can decide whether to keep it that way or remove the paint. Both lanterns have colored bulbs that will come with this auction. Condition The paint on the red lantern is about 50% missing. It was difficult to get a good picture that represented how the red lantern looks with the bulb on. But there is a picture taken from inside the glass to show the condition of the paint. The red lantern also has 3 vertical seams and do not appear to be cracks. I believe the glass was replaced when they were converted since the lines are straight and do not appear to be damage related. The red lantern also has two screws in the bottom, see pic, to hold the bulb/lantern housing in place. The green lantern has a dent in the top, see pic. The"hanging hooks" are a bit out of square as seen in the pictures. I have not found any cracks or holes in the brass housing that should not be there. Both lights have pull strings to turn lights on and off without unplugging. Both have old two prong style plugs. The oil lamp bases are original aside from the electrical retrofitting that took place. There is some soldering and repair work on bulb housing but it cant be seen unless yo
