It is rather large, and I believe it is made out of copper and brass, based on the way it has tarnished, but I am unsure. The burner itself, and the glass pieces appear to be in good shape, but the exterior needs to be refinished or polished. This would be an excellent project for a restoration, or just a very cool nautically themed piece to have around the house. I will be selling the second of these lanterns in a separate auction with similar details. The only difference between this one and the other is that this one has a piece of curved metal around the glass over the burner on the inside, and the glass cover is shorter. I am not sure if this was a gas type light or not. Although it has a socket where a bulb or something would have fit but on the side of the light it looks like a flint or sparker. The light will need the chrome trim cleaned.Sorry I am not much help here, please see the pictures and maybe someone out there can tell me more. The works are mounted on a nice piece of oak and there are exposed wires etc on the back. It appears the glass is missing however the clip holder to hold the glass guard in is in the metal hood. The metal hood is hinged and has holes to let the heat escape. The light measures 11" long x 5" wide and weighs unpackaged 3-1/2 pounds.At the top of the light is a knob that can be turned to control the brightness i am guessing. Antique Brass Ships Mast Lanterns
Two(2) antique Brass Ships Mast Lanterns Up for auction are two matching ships mast lanterns. These lamps were acquired by my dad on Long Island in the early 50's. My dad had them electrified. Wall mounts made and they served as our front door lamps for about 20 years until we moved to Pennsylvania where they were moved indoors and were mounted on our fireplace. I hung on to them for the past 25 years and kept them in storage. About 6 months ago I started to restore them to a working oil lamp and never finished the restoration(too many projects! About 35 years ago. I polished them and sprayed them with clear lacquer. They looked really good and could use a good polishing again. As you can see from the photographs they are in better-than-average shape. There are a few hairline cracks on the"bell" Which I've noticed is fairly ... morecommon on similar lamps listed on Ebay. You can revert to electricity or continue with restoration as you desire. They are not marked with any manufactures information but the resemble models made by E. Miller but I'm not sure. Antique Francis Searchlight, M17, England, 12" Barrel, Brass, 220V- SALE 20% OFF
This brass Francis 300 mm searchlight was salvaged from a steam ship in the far east in 1968. The ship was probably built in the 20's or 30's but the exact age is not known. Francis Searchlights has been in business in Bolton. England since 1901. This is model 1747(or M17) serial number S66/266 which indicates that it was manufactured in 1966. It is set up for 220V operation with a 1000W lamp. The 220 V wiring needs to be replaced as it is frayed and the insulation is brittle. The LPF(large prefocus lamp) has internal reflectors and the light has a large rear mirror. External condition is excellent with no signs of damage or repairs. The piece has been carefully polished and brought to a bright lustre. The rear mirror has lost some of its silvering and is discolored as shown in the photos. This lamp worked when it was last tested ... moreabout 20 years ago. This is the deck mount model with a 7" diameter base. The overall dimensions are: tempered glass front window diameter 12" barrel outside diameter 13" depth 16" overall height 28" weight 50 lbs. These are uncommon except in the UK and this model is a rare one. The searchlight has been polished and is striking in its appearance. Copy of the original data sheet is included.

Cast brass F H Lovell ships light Chas Cory & Son Clear Globe Vintage Antique
I put a cord on this and it tested fine. The Chas Cory globe is very old. There are bubbles and distortions in the glass. It's a work of art in my eyes. The globe was washed in soapy water. It came out very nice. The brass was cleaned with a rag but not polished. Put this on a base and you will have a fine desk lamp. The possibility's are endless for this light fixture. It has the look it just needs a new home.

This is an Antique Nautical Bow or Stern Lantern Lamp.Clear Ribbed Front Lens has a crack.The Piece is made of either Brass or Copper but has been painted over black apparently several times but I do see some areas of rub off that shows it to be brass or perhaps copper.The Lantern has a Drop down Bottom secured by a pull latch.I guess either an Oil Lamp or Candle would be placed on the bottom to illuminate the lantern.The LANTERN measures 17 1/2" tall x 7 1/4" wide x 6 1/4" deep.Due to the CLEAR LENS this was used either has a Bow or Stern Light.Pretty Cool Old Lantern!I can find no stamp manufacturer marks however. Due to the amount of paint those marks could be filled in and if the paint removed perhaps a MFG mark could be found.Thanks for looking!

Antique nautical marine lantern brass fresnel lens lamp
Up for bids is a wonderful old lamp from a local estate. It stands about 10 1/4" tall not including the ring on top. It measures about 5 1/2" wide. The lamp was electrified at some pint long ago. The original burner was removed and a porcelain socket was installed in its place. The cord. Switch and plug are all in good shape. The socket takes a standard base light bulb. It comes with a mounting bracket attached to a pine board. The board measures about 10 5/8"x 6" The board is varnished and has nicely chamfered edges. The bracket does not look original to the lantern, but does a good job and holds the lantern snugly in place. I have used this lamp on a table as well as on the wall. It makes a great accent light. THESE SCARCE ANTIQUE HAND FORGED CANDLESTICKS ARE IN EXCELLENT ORIGINAL CONDITION. THESE WERE SHIPS LANTERNS MADE IN THE 1700s AND BOTH ARE WEIGHTED IN THE BASES TO KEEP THEM STEADY IN THE SHIPS. THEY HAVE DRIP TRAYS UNDERNEATH WHERE THE CANDLE SITS. BOTH HAVE DENTS DINGS AND ONE HAS HAD A VERY EARLY REPAIR. This Is A Very Large Antique Lantern With A Kerosene Lamp. This Piece Is Very Large And Measures 23 Inches Tall. 9 Inches Wide, And 8 Inches Deep. I Would Date This Piece To The Later Part Of The 19th Century. Might Even Be From The Civil War Era. It Has A Chain On The Back That Was Used To Hang It On A Wall Of A Home Or Stand. It Looks To Be Made Of Tin Or Very Oxidized Brass. The Back Has A Copper Color To It So That Is Why I Say It Might Be Brass Or Copper. This Piece Was Found In An Old Barn In Connecticut. It has a red(port) lens and a green(starboard) lens. Maybe the green is really blue. In between is a removable brass screen. It is 7.5” tall. The top has 2 holes on opposite sides. A small tag is on the top of it with the name of the company, and the top also has a serial number on it. This is probably a marine lamp, originally made of copper and brass and painted black on the outside. This has a heavy glass Fresnel lens that goes all the way around the source of light inside, which is currently an electrical light bulb, which we believe was a later addition to this piece. The electrical cord has been cut and tied in a knot, so it would need to be rewired, or you can easily remove the socket. The swing handle is made of heavy wrought iron. This lantern, which stands approx. 11.25" tall and 7.5" in diameter, has been put to work in its past, and shows scars of close encounters with various dings and bends. This would be a great candidate for cleaning and restoration, but we couldn't find any other examples of this particular lamp, so we are calling this rare. Good Luck! For your consideration. A J.Vogels-Boon Fabricants copper and brass ships signal lamp with a Fresnel lens, and original oil burner. This is a rare beauty in both availability and condition. The lamp measures 18 tall to the top of the handle, and 10 inches deep to the back of the handle. The signal lamp operates by depressing the side lever to open the inside brass door in front of the oil lamp, emiting a brief burst of light to the next ship. The door mechanism does need some adjustment to make it operate smoothly, and the oil lamp is missing a glass chimney. Please look at all 12 pictures carefully and ask any questions before bidding. Also he said he has not seen one on Ebay for the last 4 years. I cannot find another one of these on the internet or Ebay. Perfect mint condition. but missing wire handle. This item is 9 inches tall and 4 inches wide. My understanding of this rare piece was to take it aloft and place on mast during anchor at night. Ther door hinge is a little warped but it closes and latches ok measurement are: 13-1/2"tall including the handle. Here is a very old QUALITY made BRASS/ BRONZE? NAUTICAL SHIP LIGHT. This ANTIQUE NAVIGATION light has a 6 1/2 inch base across and is about 5 1/2 inches tall. This light has really nice AGED PATINA and is a GREAT SHOW DISPLAY PIECE. there ARE 5 base bolts with this light. There are no interior parts. The glass shows on only 1/2 side of the light which was probably for a forward facing deck light. I DO NOT KNOW IF THIS WAS FROM A SHIP MAST? There are no makers marks. Very HEAVY about 7 lbs. RARE UNMODIFIED ANTIQUE BRASS SHIP ANCHOR LANTERN MARITIME NAUTICAL COPPER RIVET
Up for sale is RARE UNMODIFIED ANTIQUE BRASS SHIP ANCHOR LANTERN. This is such a great find because as just stated it is UNMODIFIED. Meaning it has NOT been converted over to electric. This lamp features a brass body with handmade copper rivets. All the hardware(rivets. Hinges, hasps, etc) appear to be hand made/forged. The ANCHOR brass label is applied on the top section which opens to expose the burner. The hook and chain to secure the hinged top are still intact. There is also a hinged top cap for flame inspection. When you open the top cap you will see that the chimney is triple insulated. It has a Frenzel type lens which appears to be old and original glass. The oil tank and burner assembly fits snug inside the lantern. Upon removal of the burner assembly from the oil tank. The wick is new and the inside of the oil tank has no residue ... moreor oil smell, suggesting it has to have been either cleaned very thoroughly(with several areas inside the tank unreachable) or possibly never used! Even though it seems to be the latter of the two options we still say possibly due to now documentation or provenance on the lantern beyond the current owner. This lack of evidence of use is consistent with inside of the metal chimney where no obvious traces of soot can be found. The base has aspiration vents all around it. The burner's wick knob has the words"SHERWOODS LTD. B'HAM MADE IN ENGLAND" on it. Making this from the very early 1900s at the latest from what we can find on the company. We have no reason to believe that this burner insert is anything but original to the lantern. Meaning we believe the lantern to be from the same time period. If anyone knows any different please share with us. In use this lamp would have been hauled up the ship's mast with halyards. To secure it as such. The lamp is equipped with substantial brass bail handles on the top and bottom. These are attached to heavy cast brass brackets riveted to the body of the lamp. THE GLASS LENS IS MADE BY CORNING AND HAS 6 SMALL CHIPS ON THE RIBS OF THE LENS APPROX. 1/4" EACH. THE INSIDE GAS CONNECTION IS MADE BY KARLSON. APPROX. What we have here is a all brass nautical lantern Made by Lovell it measures 24"tall 12"round this is a rare piece. There is a 110vt lamp built into the top it could be converted to have the light put inside if you like and you are handy and/or a collector. Anyone interested in this piece you would not be disappointed its in very good condition.there is no lamp shade with it and is sold as is what you see is what you get a great collectors piece.

Antique Brass NATIONAL MARINE LAMP CO NEW YORK Port & Starboard Nautical Lantern
Measures approx. 8-3/4" high to top of cap and 10-1/2" to top of ring. Made entirely of brass and signed on the back"M'F'R'D. BY NATIONAL MARINE LAMP CO. NEW YORK. Wick adjustment knob is signed"P.A. MFG. CO. WATERBURY, CONN. MADE IN U.S.A. Lamp is all original and complete, wick still adjusts up and down freely. However, there are two old solder repairs to the two burner spring clips, and at some point someone cut a crude hole in the bottom hinged cover plate for an electric wire. Glass lenses appear to be the originals and are in good condition with NO cracks or chips. Still in very nice overall condition, just needs cleaning and polishing-if desired. A good old one, probably 1900-1920 vintage. I combine shipping whenever possible, and normally will ship worldwide within one day of receiving payment. R.I. ... moreresidents must add 7% sales tax.
