This was used in conjunction with another one to signal to other ship captains that the ship was not moving and not under active command of anyone. This has a great patina! This has what appears to be the original light socket and looks to be in good condition- but I'm no expert. There was once another tag welded to the top of this lantern. But probably removed when the current tag was placed. The glass lense is not cracked and the red insert looks good as well. The wick rolls up and down freely and appears to be about new. There is no oil or kerosene. This was part of my grandparent's estate. The glass panels are intact. Antique MARITIME NAUTICAL SHIP LANTERN Red Glass Copper & Brass
Up for bids is a great marine piece- an antique ship lantern. This nautical lantern is made of brass and copper metals and a beautiful piece of red onion glass. It has a sloped top which keeps water and rain from the inside of it. The red onion glass is encompassed by protective brass pieces which prevent it from being damaged when it swings. This lantern also has both the top pivoting brass hanger. AND the bottom one. I see very few of these lanterns that were made with these, and if so they no longer have the bottom one. At some point someone has removed the kerosene drum/holder and started the process of making this electrical. I have not attempted to complete this. It is fitted with a very simple bulb holder and a turning switch which still turns and clicks. This has in no means detracted from the beauty of this lantern and will make ... moreit simpler to electrify if someone chooses to do so. This lantern is in fantastic vintage condition. It has wear associated and common with its age but overall really nice! If someone chooses to polish this it will shine like new. The glass is in very good condition. It has some wear marks. Rough spots, or minor chipping on the rims/edges but no breaks. The wear is only from where it is fitted into the copper ends. These marks are not seen or noticable when the lantern is put together. The glass itself has some air bubbles but only visible upon close examination. The sloped top has several small dents in it. The two copper caps look very good and I do not see any dents or tears in them. The brass hangers and glass protectors have only age patina to them but otherwise perfect. The measurements of this lantern is 25 1/2" when hanging from the top of the hanging attachment to the tip of the bottom attachment. The glass is approx. 6 1/2" high by 8 1/2" around. I've taken this apart to show the insides of the pieces and the area where the electrical work was started. Also. When I ship it will come separated like this. Very, very simple to put together and take apart

The white stuff you see in the pictures is, I'm guessing is someone at one time, tried to use brass cleaner and did a bad job. I have a pair of rare vintage brass Perko marine ship's lamps or lanterns. They used to be kerosene or oil but were converted to electric. They are in wonderful shape with no dents or damage and everything is intact. they do however have wear that is consistent with age. Each lantern has a finger lamp inside that is removable as shown in the pictures. A 4 inch reflector/ mirror, and 3 glass panels. Each is also stamped with a brass tag that reads" PERKO Manufacturer's Reg. Trademark Perkin's Marine Lamp& Hardware Corp. Miami Florida USA" on the front and another stamp on the back that reads the same thing. They both measure almost 14" tall. one being about 1/4" taller than the other one. You can definitely tell that these gems were handmade. These are very cool nautical decorations or gifts!

RARE UNMODIFIED ANTIQUE BRASS SHIP ANCHOR LANTERN MARITIME NAUTICAL COPPER RIVET
Up for sale is RARE UNMODIFIED ANTIQUE BRASS SHIP ANCHOR LANTERN. This is such a great find because as just stated it is UNMODIFIED. Meaning it has NOT been converted over to electric. This lamp features a brass body with handmade copper rivets. All the hardware(rivets. Hinges, hasps, etc) appear to be hand made/forged. The ANCHOR brass label is applied on the top section which opens to expose the burner. The hook and chain to secure the hinged top are still intact. There is also a hinged top cap for flame inspection. When you open the top cap you will see that the chimney is triple insulated. It has a Frenzel type lens which appears to be old and original glass. The oil tank and burner assembly fits snug inside the lantern. Upon removal of the burner assembly from the oil tank. The wick is new and the inside of the oil tank has no residue ... moreor oil smell, suggesting it has to have been either cleaned very thoroughly(with several areas inside the tank unreachable) or possibly never used! Even though it seems to be the latter of the two options we still say possibly due to now documentation or provenance on the lantern beyond the current owner. This lack of evidence of use is consistent with inside of the metal chimney where no obvious traces of soot can be found. The base has aspiration vents all around it. The burner's wick knob has the words"SHERWOODS LTD. B'HAM MADE IN ENGLAND" on it. Making this from the very early 1900s at the latest from what we can find on the company. We have no reason to believe that this burner insert is anything but original to the lantern. Meaning we believe the lantern to be from the same time period. If anyone knows any different please share with us. In use this lamp would have been hauled up the ship's mast with halyards. To secure it as such. The lamp is equipped with substantial brass bail handles on the top and bottom. These are attached to heavy cast brass brackets riveted to the body of the lamp. Antique Vintage Wedge Brass lantern, maritime lamp, nautical light mine railroad
amazing antique vintage brass oil lantern. I dont know exactly the age of the piece but it is in really good shape. The main material is brass with cool copper rivets, there are a couple steel pieces that keep the piece together. the lantern has the original patina it has not been cleaned, some people prefer it like that. this is an estate sale find in great condition, measurements 4 1/2 deep 4 1/2 wide this measurements are of the box only by 9 1/2 tall. please feel free to contact me with any questions, thanks you.

This is a beautiful copper and brass kerosine anchor light with a nice aged patina. It is in is in excellent condition. There are no dents. Cracks or missing parts. All parts are made with heavy gauge copper and brass. The lens is thick heavy glass. You can see some small air bubbles inside the glass) This is truly a quality lamp that will last for many years. My father and I used this lamp on our many sailing trips on the Great Lakes and inland lakes in Minnesota. The dimensions are 10 and 1/2 inches high by 5 and 1/2 inches in diameter. Antique Russell & Stoll Co. Nautical Maritime industrial brass cage lights
I have up for auction a really nice pair of vintage/antique Russell& Stoll Co. New York wall sconces. This pair is in very good condition but as can be seen will need rewiring to be functional. The back of the sconces appear to be made from galvanized metal. The rest of the light and cage portion are I believe to be brass. Cages open and close with a spring latch. I do not know if this was originally in a ceiling hanging down or on a deck standing up.the more knowledgeable ebay maritime collector knows more than me! Measures approx. 10 3/4" h x 4 3/4" w. Up for auction is an awesome antique Neptune Brass Oil Lantern. This is a"ship" or"maritime" lantern. It measures approximately 15" tall(not including handle) and 6.5" square(not including fittings/external bars) The lid is closed by a latch and clip. Open this to expose the inner chimney. Which can be easily removed by pulling up on the two brass handles in opposing corners. The chimney is in like new condition and the wick raiser works like a dream. There are four outer glass panes that easily slide in and out for cleaning. They are crystal clear and in very good condition with no visible chips. The rivets on this lantern are copper. This is a very high quality lamp in excellent condition. I chose not to polish the brass/copper because some people like the"vintage" look. The portion where you turn the light on has like a key turner a white globe sits in this on top of your light bulb. The shade sits on the white globe unbelievable condition. All original, The shade is 6 sided with pictures of 6 different ships. There are no rips, tears or holes, the shade seems to be made of sturdy thin linen, not paper, I could be wrong, but very tight& NO WRINKLES the lamp stands 17" tall with the shade on. I DON'T HAVE ANY IDEA WHO MADE THIS LANTERN BUT AFTER LOOKING ON EBAY AND ALSO DO SOME RESEARCH ON IT. I BELIEVE IT IS A PERKINS. I PURCHASED THIS MANY YEARS AGO AND IT HAD ABOUT 10 COATS OF BLACK PAINT ON IT. I TOOK IT TO A PROFESSIONAL AND HAD IT CLEANED AND IT WAS A BEAUTIFUL BRASS. THAT WAS A LONG TIME AGO SO IT HAS DULLED OVER THE YEARS BUT WOULD CLEAN BEAUTIFUL AGAIN. IT IS IN REALLY NICE CONDITION. NO GLASS CRACKS OR CHIPS. SOMEONE DID DRILL A HOLE IN THE BOTTOM, I SUPPOSE TO TRY AND MAKE A LAMP. THERE ARE NO SCRATCHES OR DENTS AND HAS NOT BEEN WELDED OR ANY OTHER REPAIR MADE TO IT. IT DOES HAVE 2 SMALL SCREWS MISSING ON THE ONE SIDE OF THE CAGE BUT IT REALLY DOESN'T SHOW AT ALL. IT IS 18" HIGH WITH THE HANDLE UP AND 16" WITH IT DOWN.
