Antique Oil lamp/ lantern Weem's & Plath Brass Nautical/Railroad w/ Gimbal Mount
Here is a beautiful. Nicely patinaed, oil lamp, made by Weem's& Platt. This lantern is numbered, early make, and came off a 68' Coranado sailboat that has sailed over seas and back many times. It's in excellent shape and can be polished if need be, however I don't suggest it. It comes with a gimbal mount for leveling the lamp while boating. It can also be mounted on the wall in your home and would look awesome! The lantern itself is selling for $200-250. The gimbal alone is $70-$90. Here it is, w/ a real cheap starting bid. Good luck!

Antique Brass Ship's Light Contains correct and highly sought after cobalt blue globe. A rare find. Cord including on/off switch is in good shape. Works as it should. Globe has chip to the lip that sits between the housing and lid. This chip is not visible when lid is on and light is lit. This nautical Brass Anchor lap weighs about 15 pounds. I picked it up at an antique store in Korea in the early 1980's. The inner handles for the wick hold are loose. Made of brass and iron. A gimbal allows something that contains liquid to self level in a situation such as a ship where the floor would not remain horizontal, something you would appreciate especially with a lamp holding flammable fuel. There is an old wick coming out of the burner side, and a thumbscrew that will open the filling space. The gimbal is made of iron, a gracefully curved heavy bar that would have been placed into a hole in a post drilled to hold a lamp such as this. The lamp itself is made of brass, made to withstand heavy duty use. When you remove the thumbscrew, the plate on the top will lift off with the wick. We could not find another example like this one so we are calling it rare. What a great chance to obtain something that would have been vitally useful in its time, but is a relic now that predates the electric light bulb. Although I could not find any markings. Use your own judgment. And look at the pictures carefully. They probably date back to the 1890s. The brass has been painted over with black paint. They both have been wired for electricity and don’t have their burners. Although their reflectors are present. They measure approximately 17” high to the top of the handle. And 7-1/4” wide. One lantern still has its mounting bracket. And the globe has a crack on the side(approx. 3” long) Also that cap on top is missing a small piece where it would attach to the lantern. Antique nautical marine lantern brass fresnel lens lamp
Up for bids is a wonderful old lamp from a local estate. It stands about 10 1/4" tall not including the ring on top. It measures about 5 1/2" wide. The lamp was electrified at some pint long ago. The original burner was removed and a porcelain socket was installed in its place. The cord. Switch and plug are all in good shape. The socket takes a standard base light bulb. It comes with a mounting bracket attached to a pine board. The board measures about 10 5/8"x 6" The board is varnished and has nicely chamfered edges. The bracket does not look original to the lantern, but does a good job and holds the lantern snugly in place. I have used this lamp on a table as well as on the wall. It makes a great accent light. It is OLD! Look at the twisted rope style connection between the wall mounting plate and the old bow light. Of course the red and green bow light lenses are glass. Antique Copper & Brass Ship Lantern / Signal Light Lamp J.Vogels - Boon
For your consideration. A J.Vogels-Boon Fabricants copper and brass ships signal lamp with a Fresnel lens, and original oil burner. This is a rare beauty in both availability and condition. The lamp measures 18 tall to the top of the handle, and 10 inches deep to the back of the handle. The signal lamp operates by depressing the side lever to open the inside brass door in front of the oil lamp, emiting a brief burst of light to the next ship. The door mechanism does need some adjustment to make it operate smoothly, and the oil lamp is missing a glass chimney. Please look at all 12 pictures carefully and ask any questions before bidding. Measures approx. 8-3/4" high to top of cap and 10-1/2" to top of ring. Made entirely of brass and signed on the back"M'F'R'D. BY NATIONAL MARINE LAMP CO. NEW YORK. Wick adjustment knob is signed"P.A. MFG. CO. WATERBURY, CONN. MADE IN U.S.A. Lamp is all original and complete, wick still adjusts up and down freely. However, there are two old solder repairs to the two burner spring clips, and at some point someone cut a crude hole in the bottom hinged cover plate for an electric wire. Glass lenses appear to be the originals and are in good condition with NO cracks or chips. Still in very nice overall condition, just needs cleaning and polishing-if desired.
