This is a wonderful very large antique anchor light manufactured by Eli Griffith& Sons Birmingham. It measures 21 inches high with the base measuring 9 inches across. It has a 360 degree clear lense that is in perfect condition. No cracks or holes. The body of the light is galvanized metal. It has a brass hinged plate on the top. Small brass plate"Eli Griffiths& Sons Birmingham X49 over a brass plate with the word"Anchor" Below Anchor plate is a brass turn knob to open the hinged top. This is a kerosene light but it is missing the kerosene burner inside. The only flaw I see on this piece is a small dent to the left of the makers plate otherwise it is in beautiful original condition.

Up for auction is AN ORIGINAL VERY OLD vintage solid galvanized metal nautical Ship Anchor Lantern. The classic anchor lamp used on sailing ships for hundreds of years. The anchor lamp is machined in pure heavy-gauge steel sheet. The Fresnel style lens is made to magnify the oil lamp light to be visible for 20 nautical miles. The tops to the main body and the vent top are both hinged. Thus the top swings open for access and ease of cleaning. This all metal(except the frilled vent top, which is galvanized copper) is galvanized and shows its age. THIS IS NOT A REPRODUCTION. The anchor lamp is named for its use. The bottom is weighted, which I was thinking might indicate that it was to be used on a boat or ship. The only marking is on the knob and it has an R and V on each side of a anchor. I have had this a few years in my basement bar. But changing themes and it is time to let it go. I am not sure it is functional, but the way it is made I would expect that it might be. Here we have a very large ship or boat lamp or lantern marked"Anchor" This estate found lantern is made from solid brass which has been lacquered. Although the lacquer is crazing from age. It still displays very nicely. The center cap in the top flips up and it also opens at the base of the top as well. There is an oil lamp inside that does have the wick. In the center there is a very thick ribbed glass lens that has no cracks. There is a brass anchor hook on the top and the bottom. No dents, nice vintage condition. Very large, the lamp itself measures an impressive 18 1/2" tall not including the anchor hooks at the top and bottom. Diameter is about 9 3/4" This sizable lamp displays nicely. Unique Vintage Nautical Ceiling Light Fixture Ship's Boat Anchor Brass
WOW! This great. Unique nautical-themed ceiling fixture would make a terrific addition to anyone's nautical-themed room or beach house! The fixture is composed of a great brass anchor that has six stars in the center and a rope embellishment that wraps around the entirety of the anchor. At the top and on the points of the anchor hang three lovely. Lantern-like fixtures that are screwed into the anchor. The fixture retains its original cloth-wrapped copper wiring and should be rewired prior to use. The sockets are all original and made of porcelain. Note that there are slight bends to each of the shades. It's hard to notice, but I try to be accurate in my descriptions. Approximately 17" from top to bottom and 15" across at the widest point. Please note that I have not tried to polish any of the brass in the event that the ... morenew owner wants to retain its rustic feel. The globes are dusty and the entire fixture could use a good scrub. You'll need a fitting that will hold the fixture to the ceiling after a pole is inserted through the center hole. The clear glass Fresnel lens inside does have a minor crack. Barely noticeable(see pic) Please note, there are a few spots of repair on the housing as well, as show in the pics. It has been electrified and is more than likely meant to be hung, although it could look lovely on a table. It would look absolutely stunning all shined up, but I'll leave that decision to the new owner. It is believed to have been from the early 20th Century, very few of these are out there. Rare. Chinese or Japanese marking on top lid. Red lens insert and on white Fresnel glass. Red insert has a crack but will not fall apart. Solidly enclosed in brass rings. Clear Fresnel lens has no cracks or chips. Can be made waterproof. Has a hinge issue, one fell off but I have it. Mounting hole at bottom to run electric wire. This is one of the two available.When I bought them they were unfortunately painted with a cheap paint that was flaking off.I took them down to bare metal and repainted with primer and white paint. There is no burner in either.They look like new and measure 23 inches high.

Vintage Light Fixture Nautical Anchor Copper & Brass Unique & Rare!
Nice wall fixture. Yes it needs cleaning and polish or enjoy the patina the way it is. It appears to be mainly copper with the anchor made of brass. I am no expert on metals, but it is not metallic. Good glass, I do not see any chips or cracks.

WW2 era LARGE Ship's ANCHOR / Stern LIGHT by NV Industria ROTTERDAM--It's HUGE !
I am pleased to offer for your consideration this very large Ship's Lamp which I was told dates back to pre-WW2. And was made by N.V. Industria Rotterdam. It is all brass and glass, with just a few stainless fasteners. It's a real monster standing 13.5" Tall by 11.5" diameter. With a full 360-degree clear fresnel lens measuring 10" in diameter x 7" high. As found, it is a Stern Light with a 180-degree scope. However, you remove the three small stainless bolts that hold on the brass shroud, and the fixture becomes an Anchor Light or Mast Head Light with 360-degrees illumination. I went ahead and did it for the photo-shoot, and it takes about five minutes each way. This Lamp was professionally converted to 120vac household use sometime back in the late 1950's-early 60's. Judging from the vintage Leviton 3-position ... morein-line thumb switch, which somehow acts as a dimmer on all incandescent light bulbs-you get a"Low" and a"High" setting on just any old-style bulb! For the photo shoot, I used a 25-watt candelabra bulb. and you can see the difference in the"Low" position, and the"High" position.The Lamp fixture is a'standard base socket' and is a commercial grade Leviton Ceramic Fixture. I am not sure what is inside the little thumb-wheel switch that makes it act like a dimmer, but I don't think you would ever want to use those fluorescent bulbs or LED bulbs without further study! This Light is a hefty little guy. Weighing in a 17lbs. It is stamped on the MFR plate as Type#1460, and is serial numbered R670523, both stamped into the brass housing AND engraved into the Glass Fresnel Lens itself! It's in really excellent condition for its age, and the only negatives I can find are: MISSING two small bolts on top, and NO gasket on the"Lid" which should both be addressed before out-door or on-deck use!
