I do not know where or who made this necklace. The scrimshaw parts appear to be bone and most of the metal tests as silver but none are marked. This beautiful primitive necklace has what looks like a mountain scene in scrimshaw on the pendant and on the reverse some kind of land animal. The necklace has some animals carved in the silver. One looks like a bird of some kind and the other looks like a fish. There also appear to be some flowers carved in the silver of the upper medallions and what looks like flags with stripes and flowers or stars on the uppermost silver parts. There also are some kind of seeds and shell parts. I feel like this piece may have been made ... moreby someone who lived on an island or near water. This is purely a guess as I cant know for sure. Up for sale is a vintage southwest sterling. Graduated and stamped flat disk necklace. It is 22" long including the clasp. The disk in the middle is 1 3/8" wide. The next disk is 1" wide. Then there are 3 that are 3/4" Then there are 17 disks that are 5/8" wide. The large disk and the next 4 on each side are reversible. One side is plain( like the rest of the necklace) and the other side has a nice stamped swirl design. Weight is 57.3 grams. It is stamped sterling. INV. PC Pictures are also part of the description. Who design and craft unique hand made jewelry, and manufacture stone and glass Judaica and giftware. Their st udio is located in Caesarea. Israel, a seafront township built around important archeological sites that date back to ancient times. This gives them direct access to wonderful ancient elements, including old Roman glass, which is prominently featured in this lovely necklace. The green glass pieces that form the necklace were chosen for their opalescent patina and shape. They are in their natural state. Affected only by age and environment and not treated in any way. In this case. The round glass disc on one side of the reversible affixed pendant is undoubtedly ... morethe bottom of an old glass cup or vase and the ribbed and curved piece from which it hangs to perhaps a piece of rim or handle. The reverse of the pendant is a lovely curved round of sterling silver. The pendant is bezel set in detailed sterling silver work. The pendant hangs from its ribbed glass horizontal. This piece is capped with sterling silver. Two small hooks affix to the sterling ends which is how the necklace is clasped. The sterling silver chain is a nice nubby design. The necklace is signed Alice Bergner. 925. It is 20.5" long. The pendant is 1 7/8" in circumference.
