Bengt Blomqvist Bold Modernist Brutalist Necklace Pewter Blue Stones Owl Sweden
This pendant is about 2 ¾ inches long. And is attached to 2 pieces of chain, each about 11 ½ inches long. The pendant is made from silver colored metal which I think is pewter. And has 2 blue cabochon stones that I believe are glass. The back is marked BB Y9 Handmade Handarbete Sweden. This is the mark of Bengt Blomqvist. The Swedish artist known for his moderninst pewter pieces. Every time I look at this I think of an owl. But that may be just me, and I don’t know if the artist intended that at all. I’ve doubled up the chain on the neck form so you can see how the pendant hangs. It can only be closed at the chain ends. So it will hand lower on a person’s neck. The jump ring closure has a faint gold filled mark on it and is slightly yellow in color. So it is not original to the necklace. The chain is a little shinier than the pendant. ... moreAnd could possibly be a replacement, but it looks good with the piece and I don’t think I would have questioned it if I had not noticed the jump ring. This piece has some surface wear. Especially on the back. Overall. Very nice condition on this big, bold piece. All jewelry is boxed for safe shipping. Exceptionally large. But pretty and lightweight, gold washed sterling WWII Era pin/brooch. Measures 4" by 2 1/2" Marked"sterling" but with no makers mark. The large stones are pale blue, in open-back settings. Condition is very good, shiny metal, sparkling stones, with only very light wear, consistant with its age. This sort of very large pin was designed to be worn on the WWII era suits or heavier type evening dresses of that time. Also looks great on your modern day jacket. Coat, dress, or sweater. The wonderful old Victorian era pin in this auction or buy-it-now selection is from an Estate Sale here in beautiful Southcentral Pennsylvania. The gold shines so brightly in this piece that it looks almost brand new. Its hard to tell that it's an antique! And the colors in the stones are rich and deep. It was created in Czechoslovakia and we know that due to the tiny medallion inside the one end being signed for us. Wonderful. This beauty measures 7 inches in length and has 10 stations of which it is comprised. Each station measures 9/16" square. There is a glistening blue rhinestone in the center of each. So pretty. It looks like it should be signed but I did not see any signature. The earrings are screw back. Gold tone with the same intense blue stones that are oval shaped.
