LARGE VICTORIAN MICRO MOSAIC & GOLD PIN BROOCH OF ST. PETER'S SQUARE VATICAN
Caroline's Jewelry with a Past is offering a 14kt. yellow gold BROOCH with a micromosaic of St. Peter's Square in Rome showing the Vatican. The Colonades, Piazza del Pietro, the Egyptian obelisk, the fountains by Carlo Moderna, and the dome of St. Peter's done in very small glass tiles or tessarae. This large micromosaic is mounted in black onyx and the frame is 2 part- a bezel and floating frame. Micromosaic pieces were traditionally souvenir items from the"Grand Tours" that were taken in the 19th. century. Architectural subjects were especially popular. The onyx is scuffed(see photos) and has some minor flea bites(see photos) there are no missing tesserae and no cracks. This piece is 1-3/4" wide X 1-1/4" tall and has a C-clasp. VATICAN AUTOPIANO poster 1908 NEW YORK Pope Pius X gold medals paper restoration
This large antique advertising poster(22.5" by 28.25" is glued to heavy board which has become very brittle with edge chips and corners missing. It is nevertheless very attractive and striking. The tears on the top right corner are clean and there is no loss of design elements when the broken pieces are put in place. The ribboned medallions are embossed. Giving a realistic effect and the gold coins are actually made of thin metal. The coins are quite large, measuring 3.5" All of the surface wear looks to be an easy fix for a paper restoration expert. Once restored, this will be a real prize for the advertising poster collector! We will take extreme care in packaging due to the brittle nature of this item.
