10(Dieci) Tornesi coin. Italian States Big coin. 38 mm, about the size of an American large silver dollar. It is not in great shape. The date is hard to determine but it is probably an 1839 or 1849 coin as I can see the last digit. 9, where the date appears but the other digits are worn smooth. Up for bid is a copper 1853 10 Tornesi of Naples struck during the reign of Ferdinando II. The coin in the photos is the coin the winning bidder will receive. Specifics: copper coin that weights 31.18 grams. Is 38 mm in diameter and is 3.5mm thick. C-148b. KM 369 I am not an expert so I will not presume to grade this copper coin. Except to say it is in circulated condition with some imperfections appertaining to the same. This coin is from a collection amassed over six decades. It is a very nice coin with little wear, excellent detail and one clear flaw. In the upper right rim of the obverse, about parallel with the forehead of the bust, is a deep rift. It's not a gash, it's more of a hole and it looks to me to have been there since it was struck, probably a flan flaw. Otherwise, aside from a few scratches, it's in rather fine ... moreshape for a heavy copper coin that usually would see a lot of abuse. It is, IMMHO, a good example of this coin type. To get a good idea of the overall condition of this copper coin, please have a look at the photos I've included and grade it for yourself.
