This auction is for a beautiful and RARE three dimentional plaque of LEO XIII. Who was Pope of the Roman Catholic Church from 1878 to 1903. I believe that it is made of solid bronze. I have never seen another papal commemorative like this one! This terrific oval plaque measures approximately 5 3/4" x 5" and weighs about a pound. This Papal Apostolic Blessing(Plenary indulgence) was signed by Archibishop Diego Venini on 3 November. 1956. At the time of the signing. The Pope would have been quite ill with Ischemia to the point that he was not able or too weak to perform his daily duties. He became ill in 1954 and died in 1958. the document is signed by Archbishop Diego Venini. The Vatican almoner- so it seems natural he would sign this document in the Pope's stead. It is worth noting that Venini was nominated to the post of Cardinal in 1960. But refused the post. He died in 1981, age 91. EXCEPTIONNAL PAPAL RELIQUARY AND BSE MARGUERITE-MARIE ALACOQUE RELIC
Up for your consideration is a remarkable and beautiful Papal theca including Bse Marguerite-Marie Alacoque's relic. Ste Alacoque(1647-1690)was a French Catholic nun and mystic who promoted devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus in its modern form. In March 1824. Pronounced her and on 18 September 1864 declared her. Alacoque was by in 1920. Since the relic is in a Papal reliquary and that the inscription is at the level of blessed in French"Bse" I tend to believe that the relic was made around the time she was declared Blessed meaning I date that relic between 1864 and 1880. It is remarkably well done and in perfect condition. Seal and threads are intact. It measures 3"1/4 long by 2"1/2 wide and is 3/4" thick. This mixer works fine but needs one of the hinges welded on but it still doesn't get in the way when mixing but i recommend it being fixed asap. It mixes fine. The bottom plate comes on and off and had a hooked spring to hold the handle of the bucket. I just greased everything and it spins fine. I would like whoever is interested to come take a look at it before buying if possible. I can even email you a video of it mixing if you would like. No shipping on this. It would cost a fortune. Swiss Dagger, Papal Guard, early 17th C
Guard of flattened ovoid bars. Featuring straight quillons expanding toward the ends and a single side ring. Disk pommel with upper surface fluted and featuring an integral spherical button. Original grip wrap of twisted iron wire in the shape of a series of chevrons with turks heads top and bottom. Straight 11 3/4" blade of flattened diamond section with flat ricasso. Deeply stamped on the reverse with a key in a shield. The key mark is sometimes found on Swiss edged weapons and is often thought to be associated with the Swiss Papal Guard. One of the symbols of the Vatican is the crossed keys of St. Peter. Very good original condition with dark age patina. Clearly never having been apart. Overall length 16 3/4"
