Finished in bique some very minor chips on two flower otherwise no faults. A very rare and early piece in this condition. Here is a rare piece of antique Italian pottery. Something that you usually find in a European museum. It is a ewer in a very unusual shape. Probably manufactured in the late 19 th or early 20 th century(but maybe earlier) by the fabulous Giustiniani family of Naples. Very much reflecting the influence of 16th Century Italian majolica pieces. Not only is it very old. But it beautifully executed and in wonderful condition. Stands 14” tall and is 6” in diameter at the widest point. Don’t know if the mark on the bottom stands for“Manifattura Giustiniani” or specifically for a member of the family, notably Michele Giustiniani, one of the family’s most celebrated craftsmen. The Giustiniani factory was founded in the late 18 th Century by a famous potter in the family. Known as“Belpensiero” Early manufacturing concentrated on bricks and tiles, ... morebut the products were so successful that the family expanded the line to include vases, statues, and other decorative pieces that rivaled the quality of Capodimonte. Between 1820 and 1840, there were multiple factories employing 60 teachers and 120 assistants working the various pieces and painting them. The typical Giustiniani colors were yellow and green that stood out against a background of gray or blue enamel. The largest exhibit of Giustiniani ceramics can be seen at the Museo del Sannio in Naples. Because I cannot verify all the details about the exact age and origin of this piece. Which was established in Naples, Italy in 1743. Capodimonte porcelain was made in direct emulation of Meissen porcelain. Capodimonte is famous for its moulded figurines and its decorative modelled flowers applied to cups and vases. With this factory they gave birth to one of the most famous Italian forms of art. The Capodimonte porcelain tradition endured thanks to the creativity of the Neapolitan artists. During the second half of the 19th century. The first handicraft factories were created. He is in excellent condition although the sword. Being made out of a very light metal, is slightly out of true. There are no chips. Cracks or restoration and the colours are very vibrant. Original WWII Soldiers Guide to Naples Italy-map/booklet
A Soldier's Guide to Naples" is from WWII. Measuring 5" x 6 3/4" it has pieces missing from the cover and corners as the paper in like newsprint so it is brittle. It has some photos and information(47 pages)about Naples. Along with a map that measures 9 1/2" x 13" The booklet has been stapled by someone about halfway through and the map has wear to the folds and a hole in one segment. Overall condition is fair for a neat WWII item.

1946 Italy original photos by US Army soldier Pompeii Naples Italy Italian navy
One of my clients had a relative in the US Army Air Corps in 1943-45 and continued in the AF for decades thereafter. Apparently in 1945 after the war ended his group was sent to Tehran Iran. And then in 1946 to Italy. I have pulled out many of the pages of the man's photo album to put them in thematic groups. Happy to combine shipping if you win more than one lot. All of these are original black and photographs measuring about 5x3 inches and most have inked descriptions on the back. EAch photos seems to be held to the black paper backing by photographic hinges or stamp hinges or something like it, so they are NOT glued or pasted down. Only 2 lots are from Italy, most of the lots are from Iran. I will have one large lot of Iran photos in the original album, those have more landscapes, people, and buildings. I pulled out the ships, planes, ... moreand more specific military items for separate sales. It will probably take me all this week to list them all. This is one page of 5 Italy photos from 1946. 3 are Pompeii and 2 are Naples. One of the Naples photos shows several small ships(destroyers? and says"Remains of Italian fleet interned in Naples Italy 1946" There are many men on them standing at attention and one has smoke so it seems to be going somewhere.
