1958 UNIVERSAL STATUARY CORP Plaque 18th C Noblemen Vicomte de Valmont
I got this plaque at a yard sale a few years ago. I like it but I really don't have a use for it. The back says Universal Statuary Chicago 1958. There are a few others on EBAY like it that are listed as Vintage and calls him a Victorian Man. His dress is decided NOT Victorian. It is actually more from the previous century(circa 1740-1780) He reminds me of the Vicomte de Valmont of Dangerous Liasons fame. The plaque is worn and has some surface chips(see condition description& photos) However. These chips are minor and could easily be repaired. It is made of some kind of ceramic material with a metal netting on the back. He is holding out a box with a ring in it. This pencil sketch by Al Williamson was drawn for the Rip Kirby newspaper strip between 1958-1964. When Williamson was ghosting the strip for artist John Prentice. Al even moved down to Mexico with Prentice for a time. The sketches are in pencil on tracing paper that was magic taped to white card stock(this is the way that is was given to me) The board that the tracing paper is taped to is the back of a paste-up board from World Color Press. The board size is 7 3/4" x 10" The board and sketch have yellowed through the years. It's in very good condition for being 50 some-odd years old. Please email with any questions. Genuine 1958 pattern webbing waist belt SAS SBS belt kit ally 36/38 inch waist
Genuine British army issue 58 pattern webbing waist belt in good overall condition. As used by the B r itish armed forces for over 30 years(until replaced by t he PLCE) this type of belt can still be seen being worn by serving troops. This belt has clearly been used. It is faded and there is loss of paint from the buckle and keepers. However, there is no sign of damage to the belt. The original issue stamps have faded away so I can not date this positively. Although it is probably 1960's or 1970's. The size will fit up to a 36 inch waist quite comfortably with at least one more possible adjustment so would probably fit up to a 38 inch waist.
