One very distinctive feature on this guitar is the pointed tortoise pickguard which would normally indicate that this guitar is from 1955. However, this pickguard is actually a replacement guard from a 60's era Gibson Hummingbird. The hummingbird logo has faded so it can't be seen with the naked eye, but a black light reveals it clearly. Some other standout features on this beauty include super clean replaced mid 60's Kluson tuners, a Brazilian rosewood fretboard with split parallelogram inlays, the original rosewood belly bridge and a gold Gibson silk screen headstock logo. Geology of the Fredonia Quadrangle. Kansas USGS Geologic Quadrangle Map GQ 49 by Holly C. Wagner, 1954. This is a15-minute quadrangle with scale 1:62,500. The map is in good condition. It has some stamps and marks or a former owner and filing system. Eight formations of Pennsylvanian rocks crop out in this quadrangle. Fredonia was the location of the first significant oil production in Kansas around 1900. Wagner has mapped peridotite in the northeast part of the quadrangle. Today I believe that these rocks are considered to the surficial expression of diatremes, a unique feature in Kansas. A vintage. 1954"Polio Pioneer Extraordinary Ce rtificate of Appreciation" from state of Massachusetts to John E Church. The certificate. 12 1/2" wide by 9 1/2" high, heralds the volunteer inoculation of Mr. Church in the 1954 polio vaccine field trials and also giving blood in the project. The document is signed in the stone by Governor, Christian A Herter, who later became Secretary of State at the end of the Eisenhower Administration. I found the document interesting because of an earlier conversation I had with a classmate from South Dakota.she was one of eight children in the hospital in Hot Springs, South Dakota,when she was five years old and the only one to emerge without serious crippling. Very nice old spinning reel from the 1950s. This is the Airex Spinster Mark V. Bache Brown spinning reel. Airex was a division of the Lionel Corporation. The reel comes in its cloth pouch along with the Fuzzy Wire for the spool and the instruction manual. The reel has some light scuff marks, and is stiff. It needs to be lubed or oiled.
