1941 Baltimore, Maryland Masonic Lodge Photograph
This photograph is captioned"Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Free Masonry. Valley of Baltimore Orient of Maryland, Re-union- December 12, 1941" in three lines above the names of the men that appear in the photo. The gray card stock it is mounted on is stained and torn in a few places and the upper left corner is badly dented. The card stock has two small tears about an inch long to the right of the large tear at the center; all at the bottom. The large tear goes from the edge of the card stock and continues to the edge of the photograph. The photo itself isn't torn but is badly creased. The card stock is 17" by 13" and the photograph is 13 3/4" by 7 5/8" overall. I normally don't post photographs or items in this condition but I've made an exception in this case. I'm posting this photograph ... morebecause it may be historically significant to a Free Mason. Particularly in Maryland. This photo was taken five days after the Japanese attacked Peral Harbor and a good many of these men, particularly the younger ones may have gone to war, some may not have returned. A Collectible Certificate from the MORTGAGE CREDIT BANK IN COLOGNE FOR RHINELAND-WESTPHALIA This is a 5000.00 Reichsmark Bearer Bond! These Certificates were virtually the same as cash because they were owned by anyone who happened to possess them: hence the term" Bearer Bond" Notice the vignette at the top showing the Imperial Eagle and the White Horse of Saxony. The one at the bottom shows an Imperial Bank. I have included a scan of part of the back of the bond. Which sets out the conditions and purpose of the issue. The capital was not to be available until two and a half years later and was expected to be valid until 62 years had passed- bringing us to 2003! A bit optimistic to say the least. At this time they had also successfully invaded Denmark and Norway. Within just a couple of months after the first of these notes- despite the Infamous Non-Aggression Pact that Hitler had signed with Stalin and against the advice of his generals- Hitler decided to outdo Napoleon but was doomed to the same failure. The fact that this was issued at a higher denomination a few months later indicates the need for greater financing. Rare 1941 Walt Disney Fisher Price Clara Cluck, Easter Parade Hen Chicken Toy
In 1936 Fisher-Price introduced the#475 Walt Disney Easter Parade; a set of 5 wooden cut out Disney figures that roll on wooden bead wheels. The same year. Fisher-Price sold each Easter Parade Disney figure in open stock for customers who did not want to buy the whole#475 set. The#205A figures are exactly the same as those sold in the#475. In late 1941, the figures were slightly changed by being marked"W.D.P. opposed to"W.D. Ent. Clara Cluck was a wooden cut out with paper lithographs attached to the side of a large white chicken with her mouth open singing a song. She wears a large blue hat with an orange feather on the side. And a white apron with red polka-dots around her waist. Rolls on 4 wooden bead wheels. All I can say is WOW! Extremely rare find. Here we have a pair of Bausch and Lomb US NAVY BU SHIPS MARK 1 MOD 1 1941 binoculars.serial numbered 14225. 7x50. Includes case which is missing top. Optics are good and each focus lens are functioning properly. There is some patina at the screws which are in the photos. Just imagine what these binoculars have seen. Produced in heart of World War Two. They have served our country well! I have not seen a pair of these on ebay ever. Great relic from a very important period of American history. For other destinations. Please email for ... morea shipping quote. This is a scroll type letter from a group of ladies and two men working at Cone Automatic Machine Company. A machine tool manufacturer that was located in Windsor, Vermont(now closed) This plant and several others in the area were very active during World War Two supporting the war effort. Reading the letter I was able to determine that the recipient was a man named Benjamin"Bennie" Smith. A Corporal in the 43rd(Infantry) and that he was to be in Florida during the winter of 1941. The 43rd was activated in February of 1941 and deployed to the Pacific Theater by October of 1942. As I read I got the impression that this man was possibly with one or more other men from Cone. The letter is dated August 13. 1941 and says under that Cone Automatic Working(something- I couldn't make it out) Each person expressed how much they missed him. Mostly writing in flowery cursive writing I found a bit hard to read at times. All but one used pencil(I think one used a fountain pen) one person started with green pencil and ended with red pencil. Somebody apparently had greasy fingers and left fingerprints all over parts of the letter. Cone being a machine tool plan
