up for bid is a vintage Harmony acoustic guitar#808H1116. looks to be a 1940 acoustic flatop made of all birch construction. Vintage Pyrex Primary Color Blue Mixing Nesting Bowl model#401with a one pint capacity which has the 1940's Old Backstamp(the one that has no model number or capacity) Bowl is in good condition no chips or cracks but there is some storage/use scratches greying to the exterior of the bowl. The lovely little basket is greenish mint along the top and handle shading to an off white and then to a pale pink along the base. It has a yellow open rose with greenish mint leave and a pink open rose on the other side of the basket. It is marked Hull USA 142 6 1/4" on the bottom. Measuring 6 1/4"x 3 3/4" and 5" to the top of the handle. It has been repaired( which is hardly noticable) on the top corner. This factory was owned by a Czech German button maker who was expelled from Bohemia at the end of WWII. He settled in Bavaria and remained there for the duration of his life. Beautiful 1940's southwestern sterling silver bracelet with a 3/4 x 1-1/4 inch crysocolla center stone. The bracelet has feathers and arrows stamped on the band. The bracelet should fit a 7 to 8-1/2 inch wrist. This piece was hand designed by an artisan in Colorado sometime in the late 40's. Previously owned. In excellent condition! 1940-50's Box of about 2,000 KING Hand Laid Cuttyhunk Linen Fishing Line Labels.
There is at least about 2.000 labels in this large box"KING/ Genuine Hand Laid/ Linen Cuttyhunk/ Extra Strong/ Fish Line" with the picture of the jumping trout. It's a bright"metallic gold" finish. There is a problem with what I reckon about half of them have in various stages, a"blight" that sometimes happens on a metallic finish. I am showing one at its very worst and another(on the left side of the pair)just one spot, very minor. Many are perfect. Labels were made with no gum at back. Winner pays $6.00 for parcel post mailing of the hefty box(2 1/2 Lbs. and I also cover for loss or damage on an immediate basis. West of Chicago please add $1.50 for mailing. Pencil-written letter to Ede McCoy in Lakewood. Ohio from John Wood of Oberlin, Ohio, reads, in part: Dear Ede, There isn’t any picture show tonight because the waves insist upon soaking anyone who dares to venture out on the deck. We have had heavy seas ever since we left Guantanamo. There is about a sixty mile wind hitting us from the North. It is beginning to get cold too. Although it isn’t uncomfortable yet. Tomorrow we land in Norfolk for a few days stay. I expect I will get leave Tuesday provided. Of course, I can get my clothes brushed out, my shoes shined, and my hair cut… A few of others have spent their time standing and laying around waiting for the moment. The moment ... morebeing that time when they start running for the rail or some other convenient depository. A sea sick gob is the bluest looking fellow you could imagine, he usually stands leaning against something or other; he has a peculiar slouch that is recognizable a block away, his eyes are usually upon the waves, and thus reflect a combination of misery that is unique; it seems to be both homesickness and sea sickness; he has absolutely no hope no fears, and most of all, no appetite. I guess I ought to know because I felt that way for an hour one day at Guantanamo, but fortunately, we came to port and quiet water before I had to give my all. Condition: Very good. Buckles, and bar pins in silver and base metals set with rhinestones and later manufactured, a broad range of costume jewelry creating superb designs and workmanship at different price levels. The Trifari jewelry produced had a distinctive look, resembling fine jewelry, which can easily be recognized by collectors. Much of this is due to the work of a great designer, Alfred Philippe, who worked and designed jewelry for Trifari, for approximately 38years, from 1930 to 1968, using high quality imported Swarovski rhinestones that were hand-set in the jewelry piece. FINE LARGE OLD NORTHWEST COAST TLINGIT CEDAR TOTEM POLE Circa 1940
A fine large old Northwest Coast Tlingit hand carved and painted cedar totem pole dating from the mid 1900's. The totem is a model of the famous Kwakiutl Alert bay totem pole made by Charlie James. But this one is of Tlingit origins. The totem features a Thunderbird and a Bear with a human captive. It stands 13" tall with a 9 1/2" wingspan and is quite well painted in bold original colors. The carver choose an unusual light weight wood rather than the usual yellow cedar. This totem will make a great display item and a fine addition to anyone's collection. These are exceptional original 1940's vintage settings or mountings. These have open cut work on the prongs. The prongs are long so you can set a larger or smaller stone. We used to set irregular or unusual shape stones in these settings very easily. These settings measure 14mm by 20mm. I DO NOT HAVE MANY OF THESE AVAILABLE. You get 16 of these settings in the group. 8455-mts. MINIMUM BID: $6.95 In the early days beads were strung on strings and stones were packed in paper. So they may have rubbed against each other and have very very tiny nicks. Some of the foil may have rubbed off the back of some of the stones, but we do try to send you the best possible.
