It measures 27 1/2" by 19" and as you can see it is French and it reads Creme Glacee which means ice cream. It also says Apportez-en chez vous which means take some home. As you can see it is not perfect. far from it, it has small nail holes in many places, it has lots of dings and dents along with some ripples. The model number on this wonderful Crosley is 66TA& it was produced around the 1946 era. This is one of crosley's popular radios back in the day& still is a fairly sought after radio in todays world. The cabinet is made of bakelite or thick plastic& it is a dark chocolate marbled brown in color. There are no crack. This auction is for two late 1940's sterling silver medals by the well-known Birks firm(often referred to as the Tiffany's of Canada) The medals are of exceptional quality. Finely cast in sterling and inset with enamelwork on the provincial crests. One is marked"MARITIME AMATEUR HOCKEY ASSOCATION" and the other is marked"MARITIME PROVINCES BRANCH CANADIAN AMATEUR HOCKEY ASSOCATION. Although these medals are post-WWII, they were awarded to a gentleman who served in the Navy on HMS Puncher during WWII. His information is engraved on the reverse. 1940's Game used Vintage Art Ross Hockey puck National League Official NHL OLD!
A story behind the puck.My grand mother and her sister were hockey groupies. They went to countless Bruins games during the late 1930s and 1940s. Primarily during WWII. They went to nearly every home game and also traveled regularly to Toronto, Montreal and New York. During these years they became good friends with a few of the players. My family has photo albums filled with pictures of them with Burins players such as Dit Clapper, Bill Cowley and Frank Brimsek as well as some personal correspondences from a couple of the players. We have dozens of 8x10 photos of the players signed and dedicated to the two of them as well as an amazing program that is signed by every player on the 1942 team as well as the players from the Bruin's minor league team the Boston Olympics. The pucks that I have once had hand written notes attached with a rubber ... moreband that noted the date of the game, location, score and who scored and who gave them the puck. Unfortunately those notes were removed at some point and the pucks were put down in our basement with the rest of the balls, bats and sticks. I think he was right, that is why this Dust Jacket have been preserved so well. And if there is a small wear at edges, it is very common. I don’t believe this book was ever read. It has been preserved very well. Sometimes such books are sold over the Internet. But I never have seen one in such a wonderful condition. There are no periods, inscriptions or marks of any kind. There are no spots. It is not only a book. But also ... morea very unique rarity. That is why I will put it away in storage until such a time, as some lucky collector will purchase this rarity. This big black leather bag is clearily circa 1940's as physicians attempted to carry into the house calls an increased amt. of both diagnostic& therapeutic equipment including many injectible medicinals. By contrast the hand carry phycisian leather bags were much smaller during the 1920's& 1930's! This beautiful bag is fully brown leather lined inside with two large side pockets. A single black leather handle is affixed to the top of the bag via two metal rings. A brass closing mechanism is well made and locks after closing the bag. No key is available.somehow these are lost 95% of the time! General Electric G-E Radio J-64 1940's Working Vintage General Electric Radio J-64 Art Deco Styel Table Model from the 1940's. The case is made of wood and it has a curved side with speaker fabric behind the opening. Below the push buttons it reads"General Electric" and has the GE logo. The push buttons have a copper plate surround. Above the buttons is a copper band with the radio stations. The glass plate has the printing painted on the surface of the glass. In colors, and is in very good condition. All the knobs are functioning. The interior light in the window works. There is a cover on the back of the radio. The cover is ripped/torn in some areas. There is a sticker on the bottom with model number, patent numbers, and other information. The wole thing is 14"L x 10 1/2"W and 3/4" thick. The pages are just slightly less then that in length and width. Amazing vintage scrapbook album with 18 thick black paper pages. Each seperated with tissue paper to protect the treasured ephemera you place on the pages. It was never used so all the pages are clean and undamaged. The embossed leather stamp work is just gorgeous and ornate. The front and back is covered with ancient Egyptian designs and motifs. Pyramids. Gods, Goddesses and much more. The front cover was also hand painted in wonderful colors. Very light wear in the form of a thin scratch as shown on the front cover and just some light wear on the spine. Just enough signs of age to have that wonderful antique look without being anything bad. The pages are not bound in with glue. They are bound with string. Along with Morgenthau portrait. Half-title, and front-cover cloth to Morgenthau's book"All in a Life-Time. Henry Morgenthau(1856-1946) served as U.S. Ambassador to Turkey during the First World War. Although born in Mannheim, Germany into a German Jewish family on 26 April 1856 Morgenthau's family emigrated to the U.S. when he was a boy; in time he became a naturalised American. After law training Morgenthau practiced in New York and amassed a sizeable fortune as a consequence of real estate speculation. A wealthy supporter of the Democratic Party Morgenthau served as the party's Finance Chairman in 1912 and 1916 in preparation for the two presidential campaigns won by Woodrow Wilson. As a keen supporter of Wilson Morgenthau received his reward with a posting to Turkey as U.S. Ambassador in 1913, remaining in Constantinople ... moreuntil 1916. Alarmed at reports of the Armenian massacres- in the wake of surging nationalism in Turkey- he repeatedly appealed to the U.S. government to intervene, without success. He appealed instead to both Ottoman rulers- notably Minister of the Interior Talaat- and German military leaders, also without result. Finally he publicised his opinions to the international media. To that end his 1918 book of memoirs, Ambassador Morgenthau's Story, documented his experiences while in Turkey, including his vivid views of the Armenian massacres. He entitled the chapter on the Armenians"The Murder of a Nation" Morgenthau attended the Paris Peace Conference in 1919- intended to establish a lasting peace settlement- as an expert on Middle East and East European affairs.
