Vintage 1939 Keeney Spinner Winner Arcade Game
thumbnails art deco. Vintage 1939 Keeney Spinner Winner Arcade Game Spinner Winner was produced by the J.H. Keeney and Company. Chicago, between 1939 and 1941, one of the largest manufacturers of console type slot machine of the time. This counter top machine was designed to capture the action and excitement of the full sized Keeney consoles. Players could gamble from one to eight coins, either pennies, nickles, dimes or quarters. Since the last coin(s) played remained visible, it didn't matter what denomination was used. Once bets were placed, the handle is given a tug and a light spins around under the glass. At the same time, the ODDS wheel at the bottom of the machine also spins! The light comes to rest on the winning number while the reel at the bottom shows the multiplier. The proprietor looks through the glass window at the rear ... moreof the machine to see who won and makes the appropriate pay off. The button at the back of the machine is then pushed, dropping all of the played coins into the cash box, and making the Spinner Winner ready to go again. Spinner Winner was a big. Complicated counter top game compared to others of the time, and is apparently survived to this day in VERY SMALL NUMBERS. Very few Spinner Winners are ever seen today on the collector market. In fact. This one might be the only one you will see for some time. According to the authoritative guide to trade stimulator's, Richard M. Bueschel's Illustrated Guide to Collectible Trade Stimulator's Volume 2, when first released this machine cost significantly more than other slot machines of the time, and did not appear to sell well as a result. Bueschel says"That suggests a flop, and a flop suggest rarity. He goes on to predict that these will be at the front of the pack of counter top trade stimulator prices in years to come. Certainly an innocent time that was about to come to an ugly end for Americans, as war raged in Europe and we were about to suffer the inevitable. There is a small water stain at the bottom that may not be visible in the scan; it's over the name"Harry" at the bottom center and goes into a bit of the word"reservation" above it. It is minor. We've never seen this announcement/invitation card for the big event before and certainly it is one that belongs in every GGIE Pass/invitation/ticket collection-but not very many folks can have it. 1939 GGIE World's Fair Drawing for a Matson Line Cruise To Hawaii (Inv #4142)
This is a mint condition original tag and ticket for the drawing held on Matson Day at the GGIE. The drawing winner would receive one of two roundtrip tickets to Hawaii on a Matson Line ship. The MARIPOSA. Which was anchored at Treasure Island for the day, August 9, 1939. The tag noted that Matson cruised to Hawaii, New Zealand and Australia via Samoa and Fiji. A very rare little piece of paper from the GGIE(it measures 2 1/ x 3 1/2 inches) and it's on very heavy paper stock. Which is quite unusual. It's beautifully intact, with no damage anywhere and especially not to the hole which features what looks to be the original green string. We've lowered the price to half of what we consider a retail appraised value. The appraised value is generally constant unless there is a BIG shift of some type in the marketplace. I would classify this as damage free- it does show a couple light marks from it's intended use as a pocket piece, however nothing serious and any"warts" should be easily noted in the images provided. Superb & Rare Minton George VI 1939 USA Visit Large Goblet
Superb and rare and a top quality piece by Minton. made in 1939 for the Royal Visit to the USA(the first Visit of a British Reigning Monarch to the USA) of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth. This large Goblet matches the smaller beakers that were made for their Coronation and this Royal Visit and also a matching one for Edward VIII but this Large Goblet is sensational and rarely seen for sale. It is in cream and white china with lots of gold and the gold heads of lions. Also in white relief are the eagles around the bottom stem. Has the portraits of the King and Queen on the front and there are gold stars all round the body of the goblet and on the back the American Eagle. On the base has details of the visit and states that it is a limited edition and that this one is number 17. It is approx 8 inches high and displays beautifully. Rare. Dish, bowl or ashtray embossed with one of the 4 Seasons, this one is"Autumn" and is about 4 1/2" across the top and one inch tall. Homer Laughlin China Co. Edwin M. Knowles Co. Hall China Co. Paden City Pottery and the National Brotherhood of Operative Potters worked a pottery booth at this World's Fair. The called themselves"The American Potter" They gave demonstrations on the pottery wheels and created souvenirs. This is one of the the souvenirs and is quite collectable and hard to find. It is in very good vintage condition with no chips. There is a teeny tiny(1/2" long) surface only. Does not go through, hair line crack on one edge that looks original from manufacturing.
