Antique Hand forged Arts& Crafts Mission Style Hammered Copper hanging Candle/ Salt Box. This is very old. Made at the turn of the Century. This has been in my family since it was expertly hand forged. When you hold it and examine it one can get a sense of its age and history. It measures 6" across by 5.5" tall and 3" deep, The copper is a thick heavier weight so it is not a flimsy piece. The color is superb, a deep rich patina that only can be acquired by the slow passing of time. It has a rustic hand made one of a kind appeal, the hammer marks are larger than average, it has three graduated raised lines across front which adds to its visual appeal. Condition for its advanced age is excellent, there are no cracks, breaks or weak spots. With three of these tiles to compare it can be seen that the shading is also painted by hand so we have an outline print. Painting of shading, painting of stains and painting of glazes. 3 Antique Hand Hammered Copper Hanging Lamps Arts & Crafts Roycroft Dard Hunter
For your consideration is this Set Of 3 Antique Hand Hammered Copper Hanging Lamps. Possibly Roycroft, Dard Hunter type work. These are three of the nicest matching hanging lamps I have had in over 30 years in the business. These lamps come from the"Arts& Crafts" era. They are unattributed in that they are not signed. We looked them over very carefully can cannot find a signature except for a few numbers on the flat part of the frame that holds the shade. They look like the work of possibly Roycroft, Dard Hunter, Dirk Van Erp, Heintz or maybe Lilian Palmer. Lillian Palmer did her work in a shop in San Francisco, about 1912-1915. Palmer's work is often unique and never signed.The metalsmiths working for her at the time included Harry Dixon and Hans Jauchen, contemporaries of Dirk van Erp in San Francisco. These lamps were ... morein an attic of an estate we purchased, where the owner indicated that he had them for many many years. He said he bought them from a friend of his that claimed they came out of an Masonic Lodge. This is all speculation, all I know is these are finely made hand crafted, hammered copper Arts& Crafts hanging lights. I can just imagine these hanging over a antique Arts& Crafts dining room table, or from the ceiling of an beautiful Arts& Crafts home. To get three lamps of this caliber that are identical is almost unheard of. What a beautiful contribution these lamps would make to any Arts& Crafts Mission collection. The lamps are made to appear to be oil lamps but I believe they were always electric. Because one of the main frames are hollowed out to accommodate the electric cord. We'll take a picture of the main beam that serves as a channel to accommodate the cord. It's possible the maker used some oil burning lamp parts to make it look that way, or is it possible they were first oil burning fixtures and then later converted to electric, I just don't know. Arts and Crafts Era Decorative Tile by Batchelder. Los Angeles, CA, circa 1920 approximately 3 3/4" x 3 3/4" x 5/8" We are pleased to offer an antique bas relief tile which has never been installed. It is in very nice condition despite a several small chips. Batchelder’s muted colors and soft matte finish distinguished his tiles. His designs were well-suited to the arts and crafts movement of which he was part of. The muted and often mottled colors characteristic of Batchelder tiles were applied by brush or by dipping each tile into a colored slip(engobe) and then wiping it off. The duller colors would be applied first and then the brighter colors. The latter ending up in the deeper recesses of the design. Getting d color on the relief tiles required having bique to work on. This is an early 20th C. pair of andirons. Tools, stand, and matching fender in the Arts& Crafts style. They are hand forged iron with shield, scroll, knife blade, and faceted ball motifs. Handwork is visible on every surface. I cannot attribute the set, and I can find no maker's mark. They do depict the medieval Arts and Crafts style, and quality, of the works of Arden and the Rose Valley Association, during that time period. If I had a fireplace in my home, these would not be for sale. This set is meant for a larger fireplace. So please check the measurements. The fender is 51.5"W, 10.5"H, and 12.75"D. The andirons are 20.5"H, 11.5"W, 21.5"D(13 lbs. each) The stand is 33.5"H, 12.5"W, and 8.25"D. The poker is 30.5"L, and the shovel is 28"L. There are areas where the original ... moreblack finish is missing and there are some specs of white paint. The andiron returns, and the remaining finish on the fender, indicate long term appropriate use in a fire place, but they are both strong and entirely usable. The finish could be restored if desired, and there are no repairs needed. We vacuumed the set with a brush attachment, but we careful to preserve the patina. The three larger ones are 5 ¾” at the bottom and 2” at the top. And 4 ½” high. There are no chips or cracks on these pieces. English. Dating from the second half of the 19th century- c. 1890. A nice oak fire screen of arts& crafts form. The screen rests on four curving feet.
