It is decorated with a white ... moredove(symbol of peace. Purity, and innocence) embossed on flat backplate. Background shades from brown to almost white and shows rays radiating from sun. This small size was made for use in the home. Sometimes pieces like this were given as Confirmation gifts or keepsakes. Many still use the decorative fonts in their homes today. The back is marked: Germany 17366; I would estimate the piece was made circa 1900(late 19th century to early 20th century) Piece measures almost 3" across(side to side) It is about 3 1/2" from top to bottom. Condition: It is without chips. Cracks, nicks or dings. There is a some wear on brown coloring, mostly on side edges. Inside the well shows discoloration and mineral deposits from holding water over time. One may also notice a yellowish tint across the front of well. Perhaps it was made this way- interestingly there are stray yellow color marks on the plain white back. Hopefully an interesting find for those collecting Catholic religious items and memorabilia.
