This set is so fabulous, I was contacted by a man writing a book about John Polhamus and his work, asking my permission to feature this set in his new book. The author told me this is the Oval Thread Pattern. Created by designer, John Polhamus, and retailed exclusively by Tiffany& Co. in 1850. Polhamus. 1833- 1874, was a notable designer who patented a number of flatware patterns. Many exclusively for Tiffany& Co. The knife has a lap over edge. And both of the pieces are pierced with a beautiful fish design. Engraved is also a decoration of water ... morelilly leaves. And on the knife is a tall stalk of pond cattail with a trident in the center. The fork measures 10.75" and t he knife measures 12 2/16" The back of each piece bears the Tiffany& Co. name. This is an antique silverplated serving fork and knife set by 1847 Rogers Bros in the Ambassador pattern. The set is in good condition. Though the knife does need to be sharpened. There also appears to be a solder puddle on the knife's collar as it may have been previously repaired. The knife is 11 1/4" long with a 7 1/4" blade and the fork is 9 3/8" long. WW II U.S. NAVY KNIFE - "PAL-37"
WWII U.S. NAVY KNIFE This"Pal-37" knife shows very little signs of wear. It has its original factory edge and better that 98% of its dull parkerized finish. The blade measures 7" with an overall length of 11 7/8" and is well marked on both sides. There are no dents or chips to the wooden handle. It's marked"M4 TMN" on blade(Turner Mfg- I believe a scarce maker) and metal sheath/ scabbard is stamped"USM 8A1, PWH" Size of blade is 6.75" long and overall it's 11.75" Has a heavy composite/bakelite handle with metal mounts. For sale is a nice JOSEPHINE pattern coin silver turn handle master butter knife by Albert Coles. The knife is 7 1/4 inches long and weighs 34 grams. The piece is monogrammed“Giffin” on the handle front as shown. The piece bears an Albert Coles 3-part trademark on the blade as shown. Condition on the knife is fairly good. There is a buffed patch on the back of the handle where it was badly scraped. And the tip of the blade is slightly bent. A nice old piece! It measures 12-1/4" long, blade is 1-5/8" wide and 1/4" thick, with the handle being 5" long.
