An Antique Victorian Door Bell. Marked on the back are 3 patent dates the latest being July 4. 1878. Doorbell is in good working condition. Springs have been recently replaced. Depressing the lever on the outside of the door actuates the mechanism inside and creates one single ding. Very heavy and simple design. Dome cover and lever handle are not plated. Pair Vintage (circa 1970s) Brass Seahorse Hippocampus Door Knockers Never Fitted
A pair of vintage(I believe 1970s) Solid Brass Seahorse Door Knockers. These were Handmade in Malta and are both stamped"Handmade F. Abela& Sons Malta" They have never been fitted and are very shiny and also have a coating of clear laquer for added protection. The Knockers come complete with their strikers. The Seahorses are approx 15 cm high and 5.5 cm wide at their widest point. The knockers have a 4.5 cm diamater brass flange at their mounting point. The diameter of the strikers is 1.5 cm. French antique bronze & iron - door bell - Accompanied by a bracket for hanging.
My lovely daughter-in-law's french grandfather gave this to her many years ago. She gave several items to me to free up closet space so here it is. The bell is larger than similar bells I have seen online. This bell has a number 140 or 40 as shown. The diameter is almost four inches(4" and the height to the top including the do-hickey used to attach the chain is also almost four inches(4" or about 100MM if I read the tape correctly. This is one of a series of four door knockers in brass. These show some considerable age and the fact that they were bought together indicate that they were part of a collection as opposed to being taken from doors. They are all relatively small and the kind of item most typically seen on small cottage front doors in the country. They are all very folkloric in appearance and seem to be derived from myth or fable. These are all in a tarnished condition as I have left it up to the buyer to decide whether they wish to polish these up or not. You can take away patination. But you cannot quickly add it back in and this is a matter of personal preference. VINTAGE VICTORIAN LADIE’S HAND DOOR KNOCKER, “HAND OF FATIMA”
Offered here is a bronze or brass“Hand of Fatima” door knocker. The name refers to Fatima Zahra. Daughter of the prophet Muhammad. In Hebrew, it is called the‘Hand of Miriam’ and refers to the sister of Aaron and Moses. It is a symbol of protection against the evil eye. This one is especially realistic and well made. The solid brass/bronze hand measures just over 4 5/8” from top to bottom and is 1 5/8” at the widest point. The proportion of the fingers is especially attractive in this beautifully crafted piece. It’s one of the nicest I’ve ever seen. The attached bolt is designed to be set into a door 1 7/8” thick. It does not come with a striking plate. I believe this Victorian door knocker dates from the late 1800’s and was probably cast in England or Spain. The hand is stamped with the initials“DPA” near the bolt end. A Vintage Bronze Door Knocker ~ Very Large and Ornate ~ Excellent Condition!!
This is an Absolutely Stunning and Very Large Ornate Door Knocker. I'm not sure if it is made from Bronze or Cast Iron, because it is smooth like cast iron, but it has some discoloration on the back and parts of the front, and the coloring is a greenish color. When you see this, it's an amazing piece of art and just a stunning piece. It is very heavy and it does have holes for hanging on a door or wherever you might want this Antique. Unfortunately I was unable to locate a maker's mark on this, but then it could be somewhere that I just can't see. This really looks to be hand forged and the maker did some very intricate carving on this piece. This would be an excellent piece for your collection! EX Rare Victorian Bronze or Brass Door Knocker-Lovers! This is a beautiful and rare Victorian era solid bronze or brass door knocker featuring a pair of lovers kissing. I am rather certain it is bronze. As brass eventually erodes wood- and in that era, they would not have made something known to destroy what it was meant to be mounted upon. The backplate measures 4" long X 2.5" wide, and the hinged clapper measures 4.25" long. There is a post on the back of the clapper that actually knocks on the back plate- so it prevents the two faces from smashing together with each use. In excellent, ready-to-use condition.
