Genuine Ancient Roman Iridescent Blown Glass Vial. CLASSIFICATION: Ancient Roman Blown Glass Vial. ATTRIBUTION: Eastern Roman Empire(Syria) 1st Century ... moreA.D. SIZE/MEASUREMENTS: Height: 80 millimeters(3 1/4 inches) Bowl Diameter: 11 millimeters(1/2 inch) Neck Diameter: 8 millimeters(1/3 inch) Top Lip Diameter: 16 millimeters(2/3 inch) Weight: 5.99 grams. CONDITION: Very good. Complete but likely repaired(professionally, probably by a conservator) Fairly uncommon style. Minor scratches and scuffs consistent with use and then burial in soil. Heavy layer of iridescence and soil deposits caused by prolonged burial in soil) DETAIL: This is a very handsome first century A.D. Roman blown glass vial of reasonably nice dimensions. Most Roman glass vessels recovered complete(intact or repairable) are between 1 ½ and 3 inches in size. This specimen is over 3 inches tall! It possesses a heavy(albeit patchy) iridescent burial patina which is silver in color with plays of green. Blue, pink and purple. Though you can see some of the original green-colored glass peeking out, the silver iridescent covering is quite striking, very beautiful, and relatively uncommon. These small jars, pitchers, unguentariums, jugs, bottles, jars and flasks were used to contain aromatic oils, perfumes, medicinal ointments, and cosmetics. It is not to say that the Romans did not use larger pieces of glass on their tables such as bowls and cups; and even larger containers for transporting foodstuffs; because they did. In fact whatever the Romans had produced in clay in the first and second centuries B.C. was by the first and second centuries A.D. more commonly produced in glass. However the larger pieces of glass are rarely found intact. The Romans for instance produced fluted. Engraved, multi-tiered, and cut glass bowls of fantastic quality and design– and only a few intact specimens have ever been recovered intact. In fact even the medium-sized pieces such as this, and even smaller sized pieces are rarely recovered intact except

TRANSLATE Arabic Chinese French German Greek Indonesian Italian Hindi Japanese Korean Swedish Portuguese Russian Spanish Chronicles of The Celts by Iain ... moreZaczek. DESCRIPTION: Hardcover with Dust Jacket: 159 pages. Publisher: Sterling Publishing Company. Inc. 1997) The Celtic world. As it existing in three separate countries with a common spirit and tradition; Ireland, Wales, and Brittany, is brilliantly revealed in these exciting epic chronicles with 120 evocative photographs of artifacts, manuscripts, and landscapes that bring the Celtic world to life as never before. Ireland, land of ancient warriors who value nothing higher than fame and courage as they battle magical forces pitted against them. Ancient warriors whose deeds are as noble and mysterious as the hill forts and standing stones scattered around the landscape. Ancient warriors whose love of exaggeration and boasting compare with the most extravagant blarney. These are the Celts revealed by the early Irish chronicles. Wales. A land of bands and druids hemmed into a beautiful, mountainous country where King Arthur roamed with his knights. The Welsh warriors saw themselves as defenders of the west, heroes who would one day hurl the foreign oppressors back into the sea. These dramatic chronicles date back to the Middle Ages, but they are truly much older than that. They tell of love and betrayal, of quests and challenges, of supernatural creatures and of murder. Battling dragons. Tyrants, and sorcerers, the warriors of Brittany were people of the sea. Hermits, missionaries, mystics, they passed down their tales of mystery and magic orally through the centuries. They are captured here from a time when the old pagan days were dying out, and the secret, supernatural skeins of the early mystical Celts were quickly attaching themselves to a new religion. CONDITION: New hardcover w/dustjacket. Unblemished except VERY slight edge and corner shelfwear to dustjacket. Pages are pristine; clean. Crisp, unmarked, unmutilated, tightly bound, unambiguously unread.

Nicely constructed Roman bronze ring with a raised platform, six-sided bezel which at one time would have been engraved. However the ring was worn for such an extended period of time that though the ring is entirely intact and its integrity undiminished, nonetheless whatever engraved design it once bore was worn smooth. It is quite likely that the ring was worn most of a lifetime, as it would take most of a life time to wear an engraved bezel smooth. In fact the extent of the wear is significant enough that it suggests that the ring might have been worn during the lifetime of more than one owner. Perhaps it was a family heirloom handed down between generations. Though the ring was not originally produced to hold a gemstone. The large, flat bezel seemed to invite a gemstone. So we mounted a large, natural, antique, handcrafted Siberian Unakite semi-precious gemstone using jeweler’s epoxy. The gemstone is quite secure, but if you at time in the future wished to remove it, this could

Heavy Roman bronze bracelet circa 1st century A.D. from the Province of Judaea. As you can see(with some difficulty, but look particularly at the middle of the bracelet and one end) the surface of the bracelet bears a fairly complex series chevrons(V” engraved into the top surface of the bracelet, done in such a manner that the point of the inverted“V” is at the very apex of the slightly crowned band, so one arm of the“V” drops to either side of the band. Its origin is Roman Provincial Moesia. Present-day Bulgaria. This is a very basic, simple and common style– you could call it“generic” It is the“Volkswagon” of oil lamps, a very basic and simple style for simple and limited budgets– something you would find in the home of the ordinary man of the first century A.D. Though by no means rare, it is uncommon to find such a nicely preserved specimen and in such pristine condition. Though there are some rather hard alkaline deposits inside the bowl of the oil lamp, it is in otherwise very good condition, sound, unbroken. There’s also a trademark of some sort on the underside surface of the pedestal. It too is a bit indistinct. But it seems to be either a Roman numeral“I” or perhaps simply a line. However a single line seems rather unlikely, a trademark should mean something. SO it seems most likely that it would have been intended to signify the numeral 1. It was not uncommon for the artisans who produced these pieces to leave some sort of“trade mark” on the underside of the pedestal so as to identify it as their produce. The style is very characteristic of the lamps manufactured for domestic use in the Roman Provinces from Pannonia(Hungary) to Moesia(Bulgaria) And even in Rome itself. Oil was filled into the cente

White Diamond Accent. 18kt Gold Plated Sterling Silver. SEVEN RUBIES: Diameter: 2mm. Depth: 1 1/2mm(thickness) All measurements are approximate. APPROXIMATE WEIGHT: 0.30 carats. CHAIN NOTE: We have many chains available which would fit this pendant. You may request a complimentary gold electroplate chain in lengths from 16 to 24 inches. We also have available chains in 14kt gold fill and 14kt solid gold in lengths from 16 to 30 inches. DETAIL: Some ancient cultures believed that rubies. As well as other gemstones, grew on trees, just like fruit. The rubies would begin budding as small white gems, and would slowly grow and ripen, turning red in the light of the sun. When the ruby was saturated with red color, it was ready to be plucked. In the classical ancient world, rubies from Afghanistan, Ceylon, India and Burma were traded in the ancient port cities of the Eastern Mediterranean(often by Phoenicians) and from there traveled throughout Europe. However it is believed that most of the ancient world’s ruby came from Ceylon, where evidence suggests ruby may have been mined for the past 20,000 years. Archaeologists have uncovered ancient Etruscan jewelry with Celanese ruby which dates back to the seventh century B.C. However scientists believe that ruby has also been mined in Burma since Paleolithic and Neolithic times as well, as mining tools have been excavated by archaeologists dating both to the Bronze Age as well as backwards into the Stone Age. Here are seven genuine natural red ruby faceted rounds. Gorgeous. Vibrant, and beautifully hued, these striking precious gemstones are of reasonably good quality, and possess wonderful color. The seven natural red rubies are accented with a single 1mm round
