Beautiful Antique Chinese Kangxi Imari Cup. 1700s.
Lovely little Kangxi period Imari cup with handle. Probably early 1700s. The cup has been very nicely riveted at some stage(please see photos) so obviously there has been a crack. There are also nibbles to the rim. It also has some faint crazing. There is also a very faint hairline opposite the crack. It stands 2 3/4" high and is 2 1/2" diameter without handle. Drove House Antiques Good Chinese export Imari tankard. Yongzheng or Qianlong c1725-1750 Description A good Chinese export tankard or mug. Decorated in the Imari palette of underglaze blue with iron red enamel and gilding, and dating from the second quarter of the Eighteenth Century c 1725-1750. The outside of the tankard is well decorated with a bird sitting on ornamental rockwork amidst peonies. The inside of the rim is also decorated with alternating diaper panels and flower heads. Height 11.8cm(4.7" This tankard is made with quite generous proportions and holds around 0.5 litre(or one pint) Dating: Yongzheng or Qianlong c1725- 1750 Condition This tankard is in excellent condition. There is some fritting to the glaze on the handle. And a few tiny'flea bite' frits around the rim. A Chinese imari porcelain beaker cup of double walled form. The outer skin being pierced with chrysanthemum motifs, and with windows through to the fish design on the inner cup(Please see the photos) I n presentable condition but damaged. There is a long hairline crack which runs from the top of one window. Over the edge, then down the inner cup to the bottom of the cup where it hooks back up to form an elongated J. There is also another, short line across the bottom of the inner cup, but this does not show through to the base. Found at estate auction: here is a charming set of FOUR vintage/antique matching porcelain coffee or tea cups- exported from China in the IMARI style. The four are richly hand painted and vibrantly colored in the traditional blood red and cobalt blue colors with much use of gold gilt for accent and detail. Chinese character signature on the bottoms. All four cups are in almost perfect condition. Quite excellent considering their age. Actual age is unknown but these appear quite old indeed. Please inspect to make own assessment. One cup has a tight small hairline(see close up photo#8 of inside) and one has a flea bite(rim nibble" at the brown tinted rim, rims quite delicate and thin. The Chinese Imari style Coffee Cups have lovely deep colour's of Blue, Red and Gilding, which are even present in the upright curve of the handle.There is a single Red petal flower in the central medallion of the inside base. The Porcelain is particularly fine and the Diaper on outside top rim is a fine diamond pattern interspersed with gilded petals. As usual for this period the base rim is unglazed. Please have a good look at the photos, especially Photo:11&12 showing the details of the chip. There is no hairline extending from the chip and no hairlines ... moreor cracks anywhere. No Repair or Restoration has been made. CONDITION: This has been covered in the"Condition Report" and mainly deals with the chip which although 8mm long is only1mm in depth on the outer side this does not involve the Diaper.
