Japanese"Geisha Girl" or Lithophane Mark porcelain Tea Cup and Saucer Offered for sale is this vintage 1950’s miniature tea cup from the owner’s mother. The saucer shows Mount Fuji. A Japanese tea house and Pagoda. The cup repeats the scene with 2 small sailboats on a lake. There are no cracks. Chips or scratches that we could detect. The items are hand-painted and on the top of the handle is a small black line where the craftsperson didn’t quite cover the undercoat with gilding(see photo) Dimensions are: Saucer 3.75” Diameter. Cup 2.5” Diameter, total Hight 2” Below is what we found on the internet about this piece. This porcelain is well known and most often called"Geisha" or"Geisha girl" Porcelain. It is Japanese and my guess is that it is made at the Arita factory specifically for the Western market during ... morethe first decades of the 20 th Century up until the 1940's. Some sources indicate that porcelain with this mark could have been in production as late as in the 1960's. The inspiration for the Japanese"geisha girl" lithophane mark seems more than likely have come to Japan during their early contacts with the West around the turn of the 19th century. All kinds of decorative pieces. Probably mostly lanterns was made in this technique in Europe, with its popularity reaching its peak in the 1870's after which point they gradually went out of fashion. Originally. This technique seems to have been developed by the Koenigliche Porzellan Manufaktur(KPM) of Berlin in the 1820's and later patented in England, by Robert Griffith Jones in 1828. Welcome to the Attic Japanese e gg shell tea cup& saucer Set. This is a very delicate Japanese teacup and saucer set made of egg shell porcelain. Egg shell porcelain is a very fine thin bone china that is translucent. This lovely tea set features a Geisha girl on a path in front of a house and flowers throughout a plaid design surrounded by early 1900's 8-ray Japanese Imperial Flags. This little set definitely dates back to pre WWII. 1910's-1930' The Asian scene has been hand painted in very rich multi-color features and accented with gold. All four pieces are in very good condition with an exception of one tiny chip on the inside rim of one tea cup and a hairline crazing crack on the inside of the other one. Each piece is stamped with hallmarks on the bottoms in Japanese. All pieces are slightly out-of-round making me believe ... morethey have been entirely handmade. This listing is for this vintage Satsuma Moriage cup and saucer. It is a detailed set with Gods and Deities depicted around the cup and the saucer. The cup has a lithopane image of a Geisha. Please see all 12 photos. Hand Painted Betson's" inscribed on the bottom of the saucer. The saucer measures 5-3/8 inches diameter. The cup measures 2 inches tall and 3-5/8 inches in diameter and 4-1/2" including the handle. The saucer is signed as shown in one of the photos. There are no cracks or chips. The plate shows a small area where some color may be missing but they both look perfect to me. The lithopane geisha is so striking and beautiful. The images are all intact. The pieces have gold trim too and that is intact. Hand painted with details. All very detailed.

For sale is a JAPANESE KUTANI GEISHA GIRL Cup and Saucer Set. This pot is decorated with the two OLD FLAGS of Japan with two Geisha under a shade walking away from the boats flowing down the river. It is a European design. The cup and saucer are marked with a generic Kutani mark. Pot is in excellent condition; with no chips. Cracks or crazing noted. Amazing for its age considering the flags could not be made any later than the 20's or 30's. After WWII, these flags were not shown anywhere. This is a great piece not only for a Kutani collector but the history buff as well. The cup measures 3" tall and 2.5" dia. The saucer is 5" in dia.
