The Following items come from a large estate sale of a late. Affluent, world traveler from a historic section of West Hartford CT. Many of the antiques, oddities, and collectibles were acquired during a lifetime of global travel and antiquing. Items will be described to the best of our ability. I'm thinking Islamic regions.as the aforementioned owner traveled to all those places AND there is an auction sticker on the inner rim of one of the pieces. Has some Islamic print and 257171. Glass is similar to crackle glass with lots of internal bubbling. And internal streaks(crackle) Clearly done by hand/blown. Uneven bases. Uneven stems, rough rim ends.a rough glass pontil area on underside base. Concave base. I cant quite find ... moreanything like them. Nothing I've come across has such a long neck vs. body girth. Uses perhaps for long floral vegetation but with such a skinny neck I am thinking primitive wine/mead/sprits decanter. Good luck finding ANYTHING like this. They are museum worthy pieces of history. Shorter Piece: Base diameter ~5" Total height 19" rim O.D. 1 7/8" I.D. 1 1/2" weight 17oz. Taller Piece: Base diameter ~5 1/2" Total Height 20" rim O.D. 1 7/8" I.D. 1 1/2" weight 19oz. Condition: Excellent- No cracks or fractures. There are some naturally occurring chips and burrs.resulting from creation process. There may appear to be a residue on the insides. This can perhaps be cleaned out with warm soapy water. I'll leave that to the buyer. EXTREMELY FRAGILE. I would really prefer that the buyer be local and pick up pieces in person but I am willing to ship it. It will take extra bubble padding. Peanuts, and a long box. Early New England Blob Top bottle, TARR & SMITH, Worcester St/Boston
This is a beautiful teal-colored bottle-early New England blob-top ale or beer cylinder. 7 inches tall. It has a rounded blob top and the base has a nice dome shape. It is embossed TARR& SMITH/WORCESTER St/BOSTON. It is nice and clear and has several wonderful bubbles, especially on the shoulder and neck. The embossing does not have high-point wear. Tall Antique Beautiful Aqua Blue Glass Genie Bottle w/ Stopper Vintage Art Decor
Standing very tall at 24 3/4 inches this bottle can be cleaned up very nicely. I know it has the big chip out of it. And a piece was glued back in. See photos. It shows where it was glued, but through the years I have always positioned it with cracked side away from view and it is not noticeable. I'm not sure how old this is. It was in my parents house for as long as I can remember. I wish that I had taken the opportunity to ask them about it while they were still here. There are no seams. And looking at the stopper, how it was made, it appears to be quite old. I love all of the trapped bubbles throughout. I did not try to dust or clean off at all. Antique Persian Blown Glass Tear Catcher Bottle Sprinkler Cobalt Blue 11" NR!
Purchased from an estate in Los Angeles. California Antique Persian cobalt blue blow glass tear catcher bottle. The condition of this piece is very good. With only 1 area of chipping on the bottom rim of the back side(see pictures 7-9. In ancient Persia. When a sultan returned from battle, he checked his wives’ tear catchers to see who among them had wept in his absence and missed him the most. Sprinklers of similar form are in the corning Museum of Glass. The Victoria& Albert Museum, the British Museum and Copenhagen's David Collection. There is some debate as to the purpose of these vessels. The V&A remarks that“It has been romantically and completely falsely suggested that such flasks were used by the Sultan’s lonely concubines in the Harem to collect their tears; the shape is probably intended for sprinkling rosewater or similar ... moreperfumes onto the hands. Another version of the story is that the flasks are tear catchers used at funerals by widows to collect their tears. And then buried with the body of the husband. The V&A says that such flasks often are dated to the 16th and 17th centuries but that there is“no evidence”that they were made before the 19th century. Certainly from 1400 onwards glass making in the Middle East declined in the face of competition from imported Venetian and Bohemian glass and in the 19th century there was an attempt to revive glass making in Persia. Elegant and adorable vintage mini micro little bottle of Christian Dior Perfume(empty) marked Made in France on the bottom in great condition. The stopper is tight and a little hard to get out. I did take it out but I am afraid to do it again because I do not want to chance breaking bottle. The stopper is crytal and stunning. There is a little residue in the bottom of the bottle but I did not soak it because I did not want the letters to fade. It stands 3 1/2" tall. Buy in confidence. This is a very rare and unusual collectable Swedish Royal bottle. Charles the fifteenth is what it says on the bottle. The bottle has an applied top and pontil in the bottom. The bottle stands approximately 10" and width is 4.5" wide and 3" deep. I have never seen another one in 40 years of buying and selling antiques. The cork looks to be original. A very old mystery glass flask. Small, clear with embossed image on one side that appears to be"Germania" similar to the famous Schiller statue. A woman holding a crown, with eagle and sword and breastplate. Back is blank. Bottom has molded"1/8L" as shown. Neck and lip appear to be hand tooled. Just 4-3/4" tall. Glass does flouresce faintly green in UV test but I have not been able to find any reference to this oddity. Anybody know this one? It will be sold. This is a Federal Law Forbids Grecian glass decanter. The color is lighter than the color in the photos. It's more of a cornflower blue( I couldn't get the color right) The cork of the stopper does not come out, due perhaps to age and possible not being opened for the last 5 0 or more years. I did not want to pry it out. As I'll leave that decision to the buyer. It's in very good condition with no chips, cracks or scratches. Brown Warner's Safe Kidney and Liver Cure Glass Bottle mold-blown, blob top
This Warner's Safe Kidney and Liver Cure bottle was produced sometime from 1860 to 1880. By blowing the glass into a two-part mold, when a lot of"snake oil" was being"manufactured" and sold to unsuspecting customers. The 9 1/2" bottle(3 3/4" wide and 1 3/4" deep) has a beautifully embossed front with the company name, the product name, the company location in Rochester, N.Y. and a safe, thus making a visual pun for the potential audience. It is in excellent condition. Without scratches, cracks, or chips. It has the usual marks of a blown bottle-air bubbles, slight mold indents, other mold irregularities. Check out my!
