Therefore we have all of the stair face trim as well as the original posts that have not been altered and are present as original. The lower rail on the right side as pictured was broken(easily repaired) as were some of the lower sections of the skirt boards during removal(the skirts were scissor cut around the treads and risers) We have all of the pieces for a full and complete restoration of this stair railing. A beautiful rare children's(small child) victorian chair. According to my reseach about it. This is an antique from around the 19th century. It has been restored and reapolstered with velvet material. The chair has hand carved flowers and other details on it and is made of mahogany wood. There is only one section at the top of the chair where the wood is damaged a bit. The rest of the wood has only minor ware and is in good condition considering it's age. see photo's for good details. This is a rare find. But I am not an expert on antique's. Hard to find wing back chairs are beautifully proportioned, and have the elegance and style so often associated with Louis XV pieces. The solid walnut timber frame is mellow in tone, and features sweeping, curving ... morelines and high wing back design. The timber is highlighted by delightful carving to the top of the small cabriole legs, to the top of the chairs and the centre of the skirt. The chairs are super comfortable, strong and robust. The upholstery is original to the chairs, and is a quality cut velvet floral, in what can only be described as beautiful condition for the 70 years of age and use. I have a matching Catt table which will be listed in my store in the next week or so. The table will be on-hold until the chairs have sold. Provenance and Background Info A set of SIX 6 Catt swivel chairs made in Canningvale. Western Australia. Most or all these chairs have the original Catt label from the 70’s under the star-base. These chairs were part of the President suite designed in the mid-1970’s. This would be the most comfortable dining chair I’ve sat on in years. I could easily use one as a desk chair for the rest of my life. The curves and angles are spot-on but to top it off the cushioning is spongy and the chair also swivels. ... moreThese chairs are also extremely durable. They’re about 35 years old and I can’t see any reason why they won’t look like this after another 35 years. The bases are solid Jarrah with an internal steel support and the internal construction under the upholstery is also amazing. The seat shape has been created from metal and timber. If these chairs were upholstered in beige leather and put on the floor of Space Furniture today they would fetch $1200 each($7000+ for the set) I believe in leather they’d be better than most of what Space Furniture has on offer in this price bracket. Catt Furniture has many entries in the State Library of Western Australia. This company attracted much success in their day and deservedly so. This chair design helped Catt Furniture win the coveted Good Design Award in 1976(beating out competition from Sydney and Melbourne) State Library photos show carpenters making a table that went with this chair design. A genuine antique French Renaissance style armchair. Of very large proportions. With what we believe to be its original handworked pictorial wool tapestry fabric in lovely antique condition. Definitely antique, we would date this chair to c1880. The frame of the armchair is of oak construction and has a deep, rich natural patina, ... morewith light and dark effects due to age and use over time. The base has a carved stretcher with excellent detail, and the chair stands on squat, carved legs. Simply stunning! This fantastic armchair has gorgeous handcarved detail. With depth and tone. The tapestry is superb! Handworked in wool, with finer stitching on the face and body of the figures, it features a battle scene with deity sitting in judgement. It has a lion on the seat. The tapestry is multicoloured, with beige, blue/grey and olive prominant. The chair is finished with individual studding, and the seat is sprung and webbed, making it very comfortable. This piece oozes quality, age and charm. An impressive piece, indeed! The armchair is big. It measures 123cm in height. And is 67.5cm at its maximum width. It is 59cm deep. The actual frame of the chair is in wonderful condition for age. With no splitting. The upholstery and tapestry are in very good antique condition. The fabric is clean and without wear, apart from some pulls to the wool. The seat is also a bit lumpy from the springing beneath. And the back has aslight indentation from packing. A genuine antique French gilded Louis XV style armchair. Of large proportions. And with timberwork in original untouched condition. The gilded paintwork on this piece is quite outstanding- forget the shabby chic look with rubbed-back. And has the elegance and style so often associated with Louis XV pieces. The doors have glass to the top, giving good visibility to books or precious treasures.The lower closed sections of the doors have beautifully carved central panels, the deep carving featuring vases, flowers and foliage. The interior has four(4) fully adjustable shelves, as well as the base of the cabinet, and more shelving could be added for greater storage. There are also two drawers to the base, again with tasteful carving and fittings. Whilst there is a key in the lock, the lock is not working and the key is used only for ease of opening the door. The piece sits on squat bun feet. This gorgeous piece is 209.5cm in height. 152cm at the widest point across the pelmet which extends far wider than the body of the bookcase, which measures approximately 130cm. Functional piece of genuine antique Louis XV style French furniture dating to around 1900. The piece is of walnut construction. Solid, mellow and with a lovely soft aged patina. The armoire is break front in style. Meaning it has a central protruding section and side sections ... morethat are slightly recessed. It features three doors, each with its original shaped, bevelled mirrors with very large bevelled edges. It has an elaborate central carved plume feature to the top, making it a very tall and impressive piece. Internally, the armoire would be intended for predominantly hanging space, and would require a rod to be fitted for this purpose. The interior of the doors are beautifully finished and show the quality of the piece. The base of the armoire has three slides, providing extra storage. The armoire or wardrobe has a shaped skirt with lovely burr walnut decorative panels, and stands on pretty carved cabriole legs. This gorgeous armoire is beautiful to look at. Both inside and out, but also functional. It provides enormous hanging space, but, I believe, could also be fitted with at least a central shelf if preferred. The armoire is HUGE! It measures 190cm wide. 53cm deep at the sides and 62 cm deep in the breakfront section. It stands 260cm to the top of the decorative carving. Though clearly antique. Made from solid oak this lovely piece is hugely multi-functional and will work in any room you need storage in. A single door armoire with turned and reeded column supports to either ... moreside of the mirror door. There is a drawer underneath with a slide to keep out dust. And four(4) adjustable shelves inside with another drawer under one of the shelves. The finish is original and a good mid-brown colour with a lovely mellow patina which has developed over many years of loving use. There is a twin bolt lock which is still operable. This is a tall armoire with a height of 226cm(just under 8 foot) and is 107cm in width. The armoire is 57cm deep. The interior shelves each measure 96cm in length and are 38cm deep. This armoire is in good condition and the only issue is some spotting to the mirror. Which is so"in" today. It is possible that the back of the mirror has been replaced at some stage during its lifetime of approximately 115 years. However, age-appropriate wear and character marks should be expected. Armoires such as this prove to be extremely functional and useful for today's living. Blending well with most interiors. The lucky buyer will be extremely pleased. This incredible piece is very large. And features 4 doors and 4 drawers. It is both breakfront and bowfront in style, with the central two door cupboard protruding out from the single side cupboards, but with also a beautiful bowed or curved form. The two central doors open to a bowed double-sized cupboard with a single fixed shelf, and the side cupboards are straight in style, again with a fixed shelf. The doorfronts feature deep, impressive carving and panelling, and attractive contrasting cross-hatch design. There are three original keys for the cupboards- one for each of the side cupboards, and one for the central double cupboard. There are 3 glass panes to each of the 3 doors and they are all set individually. And are 2/3rds the length of the doors, with a blind panel at the base. There are 3 fully adjustable timber shelves to the interior and the base making a fourth self. Huge Storage! The door combination opens as a pair of doors and a single door. Additional shelves could be made to fit. The keys are original and the up and down mechanism is still in working order. The Bookcase/Display Cabinet features a strong plain shape and the whole terminates on short legs with brass decoration at the bottom. The finish is a good mid brown colour. Structurally the Bookcase is sound. However several points to note are the warping to the central door, thus preventing the door to close properly, although it does not swing open. The two drawers are also curved with carving that matches the top pediment. The upper section. With two glass panels in the doors is narrower than the base, and supported by turned carved supports. This French Oak 2 Height Cabinet has been well loved and used constantly, thus accounting for the lovely glow from the aged patina. This cabinet offers good storage having a central shelf to the base and also the the upper section. With an open area for display on the top of the lower section. The two pieces are detachable for ease of transport. There are no major condition issues. However. The doors of the cabinet are flanked by turned columns, surmounted by lion's heads. I imagine there would originally have been large metal loops in the lions' mouths, easily replaced if desired. The cupboard retains it's original handles and locks, and stands on squat bun feet. The cupboard measures 120cm wide. 55.5cm deep and 105cm high. It has many practical purposes, but wouldst certainly be ideal in size and height as a television cabinet or stand. The piece is in lovely vintage condition. This magnificent piece of Barossa Valley cultural heritage is beautifully proportioned and would stand proudly in your living room. Dining room, study or library. It's solidly constructed from red cedar. With baltic pine secondary timber in the shelving, back boards and drawer internals. As you can see from the photos, it's always been looked after and treasured, with it's condition basically the same as the day it was built over a century ago. It features two upper glazed doors. With original poured glass panes, secured by a brass lock with a decorative hand-tooled leather escutcheon and original key. This is a genuine original wishbone chair. Designed by Hans Wegner in 1949 and manufactured in Denmark by Carl Jensen and Sons. The original label from the 1950s has the indented number 2, which I am led to believe is from the 2nd production- so a very early example. The chair is in fantastic condition, with the original paper cord seat intact and solid, without breaks, and joints solid and without movement. The paintwork however has started to peel, and has been touched up in places. Sold as is. A genuine original, not one of the many replicas available today, a rare find for the collector of authentic mid century furniture. The top display section has an impressive and substantial shell design carved central feature, and applied, curved astrigal-type decoration to the glass door. The doors open in a double/ single configuration, to give maximum access to contents. The bookcase has a simple, square line, and would fit in with most decors. It stands on small legs, finished with brass decoration. There are 3 fully adjustable timber shelves to the interior with the base making a fourth shelf. Additional shelving could be made to fit. The keys appear to be original and thelocking mechanism is still in working order. Structurally the bookcase is very sound. However there are a couple of condition issues to mention. Of greatest significance is some slight warping of the central door, which has resulted in a little misalignment affecting complete closure. There is also some cracking to the timber finish, both issues photographed for your inspection. It also appears that part of the backboard, unseen when in use, has been replaced. Enfilade or buffet. Which has been in rural family homes for over 200 years! Definitely antique, we would date this piece to c1790/1800. The sideboard oozes age and character. With incredible aged patina, blemishes and telltale signs of hand-construction. If you want perfection, this piece is not for you. If you want ... morea vibrant, incredible piece of social history, that is as functional today as it was 200 years ago, then read on! The sideboard is made of fruitwood. And has a deep mellow tone. It features curved sides, and has four drawers, two of which are curved and shaped, and four cupboard doors, two similarly shaped. The sideboard stands on bracket feet, and the whole piece is unbelievably heavy- solid, dense timber construction. Simple decoration to the piece is a real indicator of age. Each of the cupboard doors has a shaped. Decorative raised timber panel, but there is little else in terms of ornate decoration. This was, and is, a functional piece. The sideboard is fully lined to cupboards, drawers and even on the inside of two doors. It has a working lock and key. It's hard to describe condition- it's perfect for what it is. On auction I have a corner display cabinet See attached pictures. It has a top display cabinet and an enclosed bottom cabinet. The glass display area has beveled edge glass. A very nice looking china cabinet. It measures 192cm high x 76cm wide. I am unsure how old it is or what type of wood it is made from. We are in the process of clearing out a relatives estate.
