Carvings removed from a junked sofa that was painted white. The carvings are mahogany wood that was hand carved. The old dowel joinery indicates that the carvings date to the early years of the 20th century at the earliest. Some paint residue still remains. The 2 legs that have carving at the top were in the front of the sofa and the plainer ones were in the back. The big chip on on the leg seen in the second pic is on the inside of that leg. The auction is for the 4 legs and the other 2 carvings are included as a bonus. The legs are 9 7/8 inches tall by 5 wide by 3 thick. Set of 4 Antique Cast Iron and Blown Glass Claw Feet, Very Clean Salvage Stock
This listing is for a set of four cast iron and blown glass claw feet. These antique/vintage feet are most likely from the turn of the century. Late 1800's to early 1900's. This nice set has been painted gold and the paint shows some wear as is appropriate to the age. There is some light corrosion(see images) The blown glass shows scuffing on the bottoms as is normal but the glass otherwise is clear, un-chipped or cracked. They measure 4 inches tall from the bottom of the glass to the top of the leg, and they are 1 inch in diameter at the opening of the leg. Stopped at two barn sales along the way- both Amish homes, and did I get some fabulous finds. Some very old primitives and antiques, and I’m thrilled to post them for you this week. I’ll be listing just about every day this week, so be sure to keep checking! Here is a nice. Solid brass cabinet door sliding clasp. It is in excellent solid and sturdy condition, with and age darkened patina- some spots darker than others. It's a simple piece, actuall two pieces- with a sliding bar that slides into a U shaped bracket that makes up the second piece. I'm sorry if it's hard to visualize- this came right ... moreout of the barn with the other hardware and with the copper wire that is used to keep the two pieces together, and I didn't take the time to remove it when taking my photos. The two pieces sit and fit together as they should- one on each door side. When the clasp is closed and both pieces are together, it measures 3 3/16" long and 1 1/4" high. Excellent working condition- the bar slides easily as it should. It's barn fresh dirty and could use a good cleaning- I have not messed with the as found patina in any way. SPINDLE ASSORTED WOOD LEGS, 23-28 inches long, three finishes, LOT of 8, VINTAGE
LOT of 8 vintage spindles. Lengths from 23 inches to 28 inches long. Three are from probably 1900 tables& weathered. Three are unused vintage made and unfinished and appear to never have been installed, and two are stained brown tone, probably about 1940, and these appear to have been used on a table possibly, but in very good condition. Majority of the spindles were probably hand made with machine use only for shaping, if that. Three vintage weathered 1900 legs are 28 inches each in lenght and the bases run 2 1/4 inch to 2 3/4 inch across. Three unfinished unused vintage spindles are 23 inches long with 2 1/4 inch bases each. Two brown tone spindles are 25 inches long each and have 2 3/8 inch bases. Mixed Lot of 6 Primitive Antique 19th Century Turned Wood Furniture Finials I have to tell you about the auction that I went to this week. It was in Geneva Illinois. In a sandstone building that was built before the Civil War. The sale was the final liquidation of an antique store(they‘d had one previous auction- so much stuff, they had to have two) that used to operate out of this location- but the building has been closed, as well as the business, for over 20 years following the passing of the previous owners. Now, we’re talking two stories, an attic and a basement PACKED with antiques- it’s hard to imagine, and all of it just sitting for two decades. These folks had amassed a huge antique collection- many many items dating back to the early 1800s and before. There’s some gorgeous pieces of primitive Americana that I found. I can’t tell ... moreyou how excited I am to be listing my treasures from the sale. I will be listing them for weeks to come. I also have the last of my farm auctions and South Dakota finds listed this week, so there’s something for everyone! O.K. I was saying in my last listing that I purchased a box lot of old finials and paired those matching ones together to sell, and then planned to sell the not matching ones as a lot. The two that are in the first photo, I originally planned to sell separately, but changed my mind just now as they really are different sizes, and a little bit different shape on top, so I decided to throw them in with the lot of 2 that I have in my second photo- that's how I'm coming up with 6 finials in total for this auction. Please ask me if this is confusing in any way. The finials in the first photo are similar enough that I believe they were used together and more than likely made by the same hand. All of the finials date back to the 1800s and all of them are made of solid turned wood. For the 1st photo finials; I have one measuring 5 3/8" tall by 1 3/8" diameter at the bottom. Set of 4 Retro Mid Century Modern Black Wrought Iron Hairpin Legs 28-1/2 Inches These 4 legs were salvaged from an old local wood shop. The“L” base of the legs are made from 3/16” thick steel and measures 6 inches long x 1/2 inch wide and are predrilled for mounting screws(screws not included) Wrought Iron legs are 28-1/2 inches long with a 10 degree angle x 1/2 inch diameter round and weld joints are strong. Each weighs 3lb-10oz. Some scratches and rust but overall in good condition for age. Refer to pictures for overall condition. These will add a retro-modern look to any table.
