The set of chairs consists of 2 arm chairs and 6 side chairs- the classic Windsor chair. They are comfortable to sit in solid and stable. Ready to withstand the daily vigours of family life. They are hand crafted from the finest oak. Then of course we have the gorgeous oak refectory table which extends. The table has been hand crafted from the finest oak and is solid and chunky with no wobbles. The legs are hand turned and very chunky linking the stretchers to the bottom. The apron to the table has refrectory style hand carved sections perhaps better illustrated by the close up photos. The table extends so you can make more space with it when required for dinner parties and the like. The table is offered in very good condition and sits eight chairs when unextended. That's the great thing. You can open it out to sit more people when occassion arises. We bought this set from a dealer in Sheringham. Norfolk. It's offered in very good condition ready for home use right away. We appreciate it's quite an initial layout, but this investment will last you for many generations whilst appreciating in value. Price Cut!!! Unique Antique American Sackback Windsor Chair
This old Sackback Windsor chair looks to date from the mid to late 1700s. It is still very sturdy and"citable" It's actually very comfortable. Form the details it looks to be from Philadelphia or maybe RI. I'm not an expert in Windsor Chair origins. So that's just my best guess based on the features. It has nice'knuckled" arms. Rather than the plain paddle type. Seven spindles across the back and two short ones on either side. The D-shaped saddle carved seat is nice and wide and deep. So it feels very roomy. All the wood is in very good shape. Other than the obvious wear that is visible in the pictures. Nothing that can't be touched up it need be. But, after all it's been used for well over 200 years and its going strong! The finish is old. With a nice patina of age to it and is still shiny and warm. ... moreIt invites touching and sitting. The joinery is all tight and sturdy. The great unique feature of this old chair is that at some point in the long ago. It was converted for use as a commode chair. Way back in the day someone used this in their bedroom, behind a screen no doubt, with a chamber pot set on boards beneath the seat. That's just how you did it back in the day. The opening in the seat was subsequently closed up- probably with the advent of indoor plumbing in the 1800s, and the chair lived on. It's a great conversation started for sure. They do have some signs of use and a nick or two, but in all around amazing condition. Look beautiful sitting on each side of my fireplace. One has a screw in the bottom that goes into the back support. It does not show it is underneath. There is some minor discoloring on the seats possibly from wear or where something sat for years. An Excellent and Rare Early 19th Century Child's Birdcage Bamboo Windsor Chair This is an excellent and rare early 19th century child's birdcage bamboo windsor chair. These period diminutive chairs are becoming much more scarce. And when found are usually in less than desirable condition. This particular chair has wonderful and dramatic splay to the hand turned legs. This example has lovely swelled back spindles which penetrate through to the underside of the seat. There is fine and appropriate wear to the front stretcher where the vast majority of shoe wear would have been encountered. The saddle seat is well developed terminating in a high center pontil. The chair is not in original surface, but the black paint is most likely only the second surface that has been applied. Not sure when this piece was made, but harbor house has been making furniture since they opened in 1929. So this chair most likely 1940's-1960's. The grain on it. As well as the attention to asthetic detail, give this chair a great look. The grain almost has a 3-D glow to it. Particularly around the top of the back, and the seat. Condition is excellent. I am cleaning out my mother's things. The chick is approximately 22" from toe to the top of her head. The chick would be only for decoration and not for a child to play with like a stuffed toy. I don't think the chair is a high quality doll's chair but it looked cute when my mother put a teddy bear or oversized chenille chick in it! The Windsor style doll chair is about 15" tall. TWO FINELY TURNED SUPPORTS AND THE BEST HAND HEWN SHAPED FAN BACK CREST, A DEEP WELL CARVED HAND HEWN SEAT WITH SPLAYED DEEP CUT BULBOUS TURNED LEGS WITH THE DISTINCTIVE RHODE ISLAND SHAPED FEET IN AN OLD 19TH REFINISHED SURFACE WITH TRACES OF THE ORIGINAL GREEN. Rhode Island. Circa 1780-1790 in maple, hickory and ash. This great chair is a great example of an Rhode Island Windsor from the latter part of the 18th century. The uniquely turned legs are the very best with FULL HEIGHT and the distinctive Tapering feet that is found only in Rhode Island pieces. The BOLDLY shaped saddle seat and side stretchers and shaped center ... morestretcher are classic. The carved and stem bent crest is of hickory and the highly Bulbous turned spindles are of maple and ash. This great chair came from a private collection Great condition. The crest is fully intact with no breaks. The spindles are original and damage free. The legs are tight and the feet are full height and all original. The surface is a late 19th century refinish with a wonderful old mellow surface. You can still see traces of the original green Paint. For a similar example see. The Windsor Style in America" by Charles Santore; and"Furniture Treasury: by Wallace Nutting, plate 2691, also shown in the last photo. Nutting calls this chair, very perfect chair" Typical wear associated with the age of the item. Some evidence of black paint under saddle seat and in grain of wood of continuous bowback and in spindles and legs. This has an old repair on the right arm and old nails placed in back and under seat. This chair is of early vernacular from the estate in Windsor. Vermont where it was hand created. Fine American Windsor Bowback Arm Chair circa 1750-1860 We are offering a very rear and sought after New England Windsor bowback arm chair. The chair is in fine oiled patina. And has some paint, but is worn from most of chair, it is very good condition, no breaks or repairs. The plank seat is a single solid board, carved for comfort and thin channel along the back outlining the gallery of spindles. The steam bent crest rail wraps around the middle nine spindles. Rails and legs show bamboo turnings for great form and shape. The back of the chair has a graceful bow. Carefully grasping each through-tenoned splinted spindle before diving into the solid plank seat. The seat is heavily patina, with deep grooves and wears from decades of active use. The entire chair sits over four splayed bamboo carved legs, all four of which dive into the plank ... moreseat. A wonderful find for those that are passionate about fine 18 th-19 th century Windsor chairs from New England. It has a glowing warm patina and outstanding form. Folk art chair. Black. Handpainted. Sold as is. Has some chipping some damage but is structurally very sound. Very heavy duty in terms of the thickness of the seat and overall stability. Artist was the grandmother of our neighbor. Mark. His mother, Helen, is the daughter of Grace- Grace was the daughter of Sylvia Ingalls. Mark's father. Who recently passed, was born and had been living at the Ingalls family farm in Cuba New York. This chair came from that farm- where Laura Ingalls Wilder lived for a number of years from what we are told. The chair is-just over 32 inches tall. Seat height approximately 16 inches.

This is a 19th century windsor high chair with natural patina from use and polishing since the 1800s. In great condition. This is a sturdy piece that could still be used today. Seat measures 12.5" at widest part x 12.5" long. Height is 30" from floor to top of back. The size actually makes it harder for the child to slip out of the seat with a more snug fit. Up for your consideration is an balloon back bamboo style plank seat windsor youth or ladies nursing rocking chair from Chester County Pa circa 1770-1790 retaining early traces of dry blue milk paint. It measures 21" across at widest part which is its seat and 19 1/2" across by rocker panels. The seat over 1" thick.It stands 32" tall and is 28" deep from tip of rocker to end of rocker. It measures 13" from floor to seat. The Bentwood balloon back measures 18" across and 21" tall. Chair is carved underneath seat with initials W. MC F? according to"Furniture and Its Makers Of Chester County. Penn" By Margaret Berwind Schiffer there was an William Mc Farlen Cabinet Maker, East Caln Township, Chester County Pa active in 1772. Very Old Fanback Windsor Chair
This chair was purchased by me 50 years ago from a reputable antique dealer in Mass. I believe it to be extremely old(maybe 18th century) I was told the wood is hickory and it is light in weight. There is an odd number of spindles top and bottom which are somewhat smaller toward the top. The seat is very thick and deeply shaped showing grooves of hand tooling. For as long as I have owned the chair. The feet have been protected with rubber cups. However some ware is visible. The only negatives in terms of being extremely valuable are; the paint has obviously been removed if it ever was painted and there is no signature. It is a truly beautiful chair! Vintage Windsor spindle fan backed chair. Bucks County Provincial furniture makers(see photos) Mostly likely hand made from fine cherry wood. Probably from the mid to early 1900s. Fair condition. Slight wobble due to one loose crossbar that needs gluing. Many nicks and scratches. Colonial style braided seat mat included. Local pick up only. Thanks!

Massachusetts. The chair has the following measurements: Height: 35 5/8" Height from floor to seat front: 17 5/16" Width at widest point(top of seat back) 23 3/8" Width of seat: 17 5/16" Depth(seat) 16 3/4" This is in great. Vintage condition overall with some light signs of age and use. The top/back of the chair is a little rough from use with light chipping. This is only visible upon close inspection.
