I can't guarantee they all come from smoke free environments. DESCRIPTION: Although the swivel mirror has obviously been a part of the wash stand for a very long time. I don't think it was originally a part of the piece. I'm not sure about that but most wash stands I've seen of this type simply have a towel bar where the mirror is located. The existing towel bar is original but the mirror was simply added to make the stand more functional as a dresser. Except for that and the paint the piece appears to be completely original with all of it's hardwar and it still has it's original porcelain casters. It is solid oak but will need to be stripped to be beautiful again. It is about 30" in length, 15 1/4" in depth and about 29" in height. It is about 63 1/4" in height to the top of the mirror. Please do not ask for this item to be shipped. It is for local pick up only. No exceptions. A handling charge of $1.50 is included in the domestic shipping costs. Antique operating room double wash basin stand iron steampunk medical industrial
Super neat turn of the century era double wash basin stand for an operating room. I have only seen a couple of these available for sale before on Urban Remains Chicago and none of them had the extra extension and hook going up between the basins. This would hold 2 granite ware or porcelain basins. The holes for them are 12 inches in diameter. A pair should be fairly easy to find. The stand is in great condition with surface rust and overpaint. But no bends or breaks. It has a cast iron base with feet and bearing wheels. The basin area is 30 inches above the floor. The extension with hook van be adjusted to up to 4 feet above that. Great old medical piece for your collection. I'll try to break it down a bit more for shipping. There is a small burn in top, but I was told it could be repaired. It is from the 19th century from an estate in upper New York State and could be quite elegant in the right place setting, runner on top with vase of flowers. One for a washbasin& 2 for toiletries This piece comes with it’s Original Top Shelf Cover Virtually Never Seen. The top shelf cover was put back on once the servants took away the basin n’ bits. In finer homes with servants. The basins and“other bits” were removed and most likely stored in the kitchen for ease in filling with hot water again. This allowed the piece to be multi-functional. This piece was probably used in a guest bedroom which saved the removable top from damage/destruction. I believe this is the original finish because I see no stain drips. This is a very old and very cool set to display. The pitcher and bowl are narke Ironstone. The water pitcher matches the other pieces. The front of both items has a mammy on them. I have never seen a set like this and if I had an old Victorian house I would not be selling it. I have researched it and found out that the pattern and the marks on the bottom indicate it was sold in the 1870s. It is the Moss Rose pattern and all of the colors are bright and clean. Each piece is marked on the bottom Ironstone china on the top. In the middle is a symbol of a bird inside a sheriffs badge. The bottom says Knowles Taylor Knowles. Included are 5 pieces: Wash stand water pitcher and bowl/basin Pitcher- 11 inches high x 9 inches wide to the handle x 5 1/2 inches in diameter across the top. Bowl-15 inches in diameter x 4 3/4 inches high from the top to the table Condition: The condition ... moreof these 2 pieces is vintage and beautiful. In my opinion. Both pieces were used and the bottom of the bowl has use marks in it. There is a lot of gold trim rubbed off of the edge of the bowl and handle of the pitcher. There are 2 chips on the bottom of the bowl of about 1/2 inch. There are 2 smaller chips in the side of the bowl of about 1/4 inch. There is also one finger print size stain on one side of the top of the bowl. The pitcher does not have any chips. There is a lot of crazing in the glaze from age. They are 140 years old! REDUCED! Here's a Victorian-style washstand with lots of room for storage that's ready to be re-purposed and put to good use. This vintage wood washstand has one large drawer over two smaller drawers and a larger storage area with a pull-out door. The piece stands 27 inches tall to the basin surface. The backboard rises 7 inches from the top. The top surface measures 28 by 14 1/2 inches. The backboard adds another 1/2 inches outward from the wall. The top drawer had tongue-and-groove assembly. Its interior measurements are about 11 14 inches by 21 1/2 inches. The wash stand could make a good project piece to correct its issues. For starters. The center pull is broken on the top drawer. The first of two smaller drawers looks like it was repaired at a later date. With tacks used in the repair instead of tongue-and-groove. The other ... moresmaller drawer has tongue-and-groove construction. The smaller drawers each measure about 10 1/2 inches by 9 1/2 inches. The large storage compartment on the right side has a door that also looks like it was repaired at a later date. Wood on the top of the door is a lighter color that is noticeable when open. But blends in well when closed. There is a variety of metal pulls on the piece. So we are unsure which are original. The small shelf on the left of the backboard is loose. This antique has expected dents. Dings, surface scratches and wear consistent with use and age. Some staining on underside of top drawer. Middle drawer looks like it was repaired at a later date, with front nailed on instead of with tongue and groove found on other drawers. Door to under compartment also looks as if it was repaired at a later date. There is a crack in the under compartment door that you can see through. There are cracks and wear on the back of the piece consistent with age, too. The metal wash basin has a metal bar for your towel on one side and wash rag on the other side. It has the hole for the porcelain basin bowl and two shelves. Lower shelf to hold porcelain pitcher. Does not come with a pitcher and bowl. It is a creamy color and has a few wear stops. Over all it is in great condition for it's age. This is a lovely conversations piece. For auction from a local midwestern estate is an antique wash stand bowl and pitcher set original to the era in which these items were used. The pitcher is 11 1/4 inches tall and 9 inches wide and weighs 3 lbs. 7 1/4 ounces. The pitcher is not signed or marked. Is molded and during the firing process in the kiln acquired a few small silt bumps. The dark pinkish is still vibrant but has a spot on the rim of the pitcher where the paint has worn away as noted in the pictures. Note the remarks above re the one inch by one inch surface scratch. The pitcher is simple in design, but elegant and beautiful. The bowl to this set is marked on the bottom and signed Parisian Stone China, Smith Ford& Jones, Burslem England, has nice age crazing, and ivory white with deep pinkish to maroon color appliqués of an English garden. The rim of the bottom ... moreof the bowl has nice age wear. There is a nice raised or 3-D dental molding along the top edge of the bowl on the outside coupled with leaf raised molding around the bottom of the bowl above the rim. There is a 4 cm indent in the china along the rim which is either a kiln occurrence or actual chip. If I had to guess, I would say it happened during firing of the glaze, BUT I AM NO EXPERT in pottery and can only describe to you what I see. The bowl measures 15 inches in circumfrence from rim to rim, and 5 1/2 inches from top of the bowl to bottom of the rim making the bowl depth 5 inches. Weight of the bowl is 5 lbs. 5 1/2 ounces. This is a nice set of a wash basin and water pitcher from a nostalgic time most likely, because the wear on the set is minor, used for the guest room for visitors. This one is a dandy for collectors.
