This is a classic bent wood rocking chair from era circa 1840 to 1880. The seat and chair back were re-cained by Robert"Doc" Banzhaf of Boone North Carolina. At that time we asked"Doc" how old the chair was and he said that he thought it was from the fore mentioned time frame. The chair is in excellent condition. Antique 1800s Fancy Victorian Wicker Chair Original Condition STURDY
c. 1890s Fancy Stick& Ball Wicker Chair ~ Natural Finish There is no label on this chair. But it is entirely typical of the work done by either the Heywood Brothers or the Wakefield Rattan Company, both in Massachusetts, before they combined operations to become the Heywood-Wakefield Company in 1897. It's also entirely possible that it could have been sold with a Heywood-Wakefield label in the year or so following the merger of the two rival companies. This is skinned rattan wrapped around a hardwood frame, and features curlicues, those fancifully curved or spiral figures wound from solid rattan as much as 3/8 inch in diameter. The back of the chairs stands 33" inches from the floor and is 22 1/2 inches wide at its widest point. The seat is 16 inches round in diameter. And stands 17 inches off the floor in the front and 16" ... moreinches off the floor in the rear. The legs are splayed to a distance of 18 1/2" inches back to front, and 18 inches side to side across the front. Yes, this fancy chair is very sturdy. The four brass caps that finish the feet of this chair are all original. And the rattan wrap is all intact. The shellac finish does not appear to be original, but has probably been reshellaced a few times over the years.

Which is dry and clean, is ideal for storing shoes and wellies in the hallway. The settle boasts down swept shaped oak arms to the sides and pegged construction. This was part of a large collection I purchased from an upstate New York estate. Overall measurements are 26" X 14" with a sight view of 20 1/2" X 8 1/2" It is in wonderful original condition, still retains it's old very, wavy glass! There is some slight darkening along the lower few inches of the punch paper. But no missing threads or paper. Any white marks on the back ground is from the flash or glass reflection, there is no damage. New Technologies: Woven Wire and Interchangeability of Parts In 1876 Hunzinger secured his sixth patent for an ingenious alternative to traditionally upholstered chairs(fig. 92) The invention consisted of weaving a flat wire covered with a continuous woven textile into a regularized pattern by placing the wire into grooved channels on the seat and back frame and around oval-headed nails on the inner frame. The seat or back is composed of only two wires. One in each direction. Hunzinger announced: The chair seat or back is made with reference to the use of wire in place of cane, to form an openwork seat, and to insure great strength and beauty, and to facilitate the interweaving of the wires. The patent drawing, however, shows that this ... moreinvention was not immediately associated with a specific chair design as the earlier patents were. As in the case of the1869 diagonal brace patent, this invention was incorporated in a wide variety of chairs as well as on a unique settee and daybed. At first, in fact, the 1876 patent was often employed in conjunction with the 1869 brace. The first chairs to exhibit the 1876 wire seat and back frame also included the 1869 patent diagonal brace. Kimball's catalogue. The pair. Made by Deutsch Brothers was purchased at a recent estate sale. Deutsch Brothers typically made Handmade custom pieces up until they went out of business in the late 1920’s. Has gracefully arching legs and arms and intricately stylized nobleman at its crown. Hand carved in walnut. There is one stripe on the back of the sofa that is discolored. Both pieces are identical in color on the contrary to what the lighting in the photos shows. These pieces came from a home where all the contents are super old and a smoke-free home. ANTIQUE VICTORIAN WOOD & CANE CHAISE CHAIR SOFA SETTE COUCH AIDEN GRAY 6 FT
We are pleased to offer this beautiful antique(late 19th century) Victorian chaise chair/sofa. This is a stunning piece that features an ornate. Carved wood frame and tall cane back. The chaise is quite large, measuring 6 feet in length. The seating area is covered in a beautiful fabric with French, Neoclassical pattern. There are 8 legs which feature block and turned wood. Arched, carved wood stretchers attach in between each leg on the long sides. There are stretcher supports that also run under the chaise, but these are not decorative. The chaise has been painted white(not sure if it is original) It is in good antique condition. The paint is chipping/peeling. The cane in intact with a small worn area in the center. As expected, It is not as taut as it once was but it is not loose and is still attached. The frame is good with some"wiggle" ... moredo to its age. This can be resolved. The fabric is probably vintage as it is in very good condition with no rips, stains, etc. There is nail head trim which is also older. This is a gorgeous,old chaise with beautiful lines and aged charm. This style has been replicated many times by such designers as Aiden Gray. This is the original! As stated. The chaise is quite large and measures 6 feet in length. It is 21" wide at the back. The seat is 18" tall, 20.75" wide and 59" long. It’s hard to put this bench into one category. It could be anywhere from Victorian to Mission to Tramp Art. I not sure if it was sold in a store or hand made? But, it’s a beauty with a wonderful architectural design. The bench is very sturdy and put together with screw which appear to be original to the piece. The screws have a very aged patina and are in areas had to be screwed in as the bench was put together. The fabric top may or may not be original, it has a very Art Deco triangle design which could be of the period. Fabric may be slightly faded from time.The bench has its original finish. Victorian Gents chair Family Estate Sale Pelham Shell & Leckie
My parents have decided to downsize from a large 150 year old farm house to a small ranch house in the city.For the next few weeks I am going to be listing some personal items that belonged to them.most all the items have been lifelong possessions that they bought when they got married over 50 years ago or they inherited from their family and friends.since I am not an expert on everything I will be listing I will take as many pictures as possible and try to answer any questions.
