This Rocker Was Made By Conant& Bush of Gardner, Mass* It Was Never Painted This Rocker Was Purchased For A Woman Named Jessie Who Was Born In 1888 Her Baby Picture Will Accompany Her Rocker On the back of her baby picture is written"Jessie Born 1888 in Hampton. N.H. This exceptional rocking chair is made of rattan. Reed, and cane. It is in very good antique condition. The chair used to have a caned seat and back. When the center cane pieces broke. Possibly because Jessie stood on it, a wooden seat was placed over the top of the original caned seat. That seat has holes some of which form at star. The cane remnants are under the wooden seat as shown in the 10th picture. It does have some other condition issues. None of these issues affects the chair's stability. There are several pieces of wound reed missing. Examples are shown in photos 6-8. One area has been bound with copper wire soldered into place. There are a couple of other areas along the chair's arms where the reed binding is broken or is missing. This is simply a stunning and authentic child's reed. Caned rocker that is 133 years old! As of the time I listed this rocking chair. Another Ebay seller was selling a envelope and stamp postmarked 1885 by the chair's makers Conant& Bush. This rocking chair is approx. 23" high. Across the arms the chair is 17 1/2" The back is 15 1/2" high and 15 7/8" wide.

There are some small dings here and there consistent with age and some of the material is loose at places but would be easy to tack back down. The springs are in great shape and the seat is very comfortable. The front turned legs have porcelain wheels to make the chair easier to move around. The joints are a little loose but nothing that will need any attention any time soon. The measurements on this chair are 37 3/4" high. Seat is 19" across and 18" from front to back. Charming Antique Victorian Parlor Chair with Tufted Back
This is a beautiful mid 19th century green velvet Victorian Parlor chair with a tufted back. It stands 39 1/2" tall and is 19 3/4" wide on the seat. It has 2 wheels on the front legs but no wheels on the back legs. As you can see underneath the chair is in real good condition and the chair sits well. The wood is solid. Sturdy and beautiful. There is very minor markings on the wood. There are a couple of stains on the velvet as you can see in the photo's please look at the pictures well it will tell you the best description of the chair as I try to take a picture of every angle please contact me if you have any concerns. You will also see what looks to be fading but it's where I was trying to clean off the velvet and I used water which you are not suppose to do. I have determined that they are indeed Rosewood with certain areas appearing to have the Rosewood laminated over some type of pine( or fir( and yet with other areas solid. I expect that both were reupholstered and I assume the construction was tightened up at that time. Settee is sturdy, very little damage but does have an area on the left rear leg that has had metal bolts( added for support. I can't see up under the protective material, just noticed the heads(visible in 1 photograph) This really doesn't take away AT ALL from the visual and as stated, the Settee is STURDY. England, and a tiny image of the abbey is part of the carved decoration. There are also carved details on the legs and the seat. This chair is 1 7/8" high. 13/16" wide and is in nice condition with some visible old glue at the seams. It appears that one of the legs had broken off and been reglued, with a tiny chip loss at the seam. The chair sits solidly and is just adorable.
