The desk comes with four raised panel dove tail drawers that retain all the original hardware. The center where the legs go have a reverse cove carving, which I have never seen in oak. It has a scallop bottom trim base, raised panels all the way around and a wide bevel edge on the solid tiger sawn oak top. The only negatives I see on the desk is that there is a little wear on the edge of the top from rubbing against something and there is a split going down the center of the top. We most likely could pull the top off and repair the top, which wouldn’t make a huge difference, but it is an expensive repair. The desk itself is high end quality.

Up for auction is this awesome solid tiger oak buffet in excellent original finish. The mirror supports are graced with fearsome lions heads as are the front legs which taper down into paw feet. I has all the original hardware as well as the beveled glass mirror. There is some rippling on the side panels which is hard to notice unless you get up close and personal. There is also a repair on the third middle drawer. None of these minor flaws affect the overall grace and value of this stunning piece. Additional picturea are available upon request. Quarter Sawn Tiger Oak Desk - Circa 1890's - Prime Quality - Many Compartments
The following is a modified version of the appraisal. Modified only to read clearly to an audience: American golden oak cylinder front desk. Circa 1890. Also, it appears to be quarter sawn oak, also referred to as tiger oak. Those are the lines in the wood that run across the grain. This is usually an indicator of a quality piece and is a desirable feature. It is unusual that it has the tilt writing surface which is adjustable for drawing. Drafting, or perhaps other purposes. Also very unusual to have the hidden compartments on each side of it. There is another hidden compartment in this desk) The condition is as good as it appears in the photos, with no significant damage or repairs, and it has an old or original finish, this desk is valuable. It is unknown as to the manufacturer but surely American. Or Dresser has a beautiful finish. it has been lightly redone with denatured alcohol to smooth out the finish as well as a coating of raw linseed oil. There was moisture on the bottom. The dresser is 47 1/2 inches tall 35 1/2 inches wide 17 7/8 Inches deep I cleaned it up a bit as you can see. the veneer on the bottom started to peel. But has been re-glued. I could do more but do not ave the time. Crafted of solid quarter sawn oak about 1900. A side by side secretary desk and bookcase has an original beveled mirror and glass in the bookcase door. The deep finish has warm antique patina. The lock and key in lower door doesn't work. The key is a handle only. There is some silver loss on the back of mirror but mirror could be easy replaced. Inside the drop front desk are tiny cubicles and a drawer for papers. Bookshelves are adjustable on this American made furniture. Brass hardware is original. This beautiful 19th century china cabinet appears to have been professionally fully restored to its original grandeur and features beautiful fluted partial columns. Beautiful scroll and leaf carvings, carved paw feet and a lovely mirrored back with a working lock& key. This handsome china cabinet measures 61 1/2 inches in height.44 3/4 inches wide and a front to back depth of 17 3/4 inches and weighs approximately 135 lbs. It resided at the community college in Kalispell, Montana, in a building that at one time had been the Elks Lodge. Since then the following work has been done to the piano: finish- stripped, sanded and refinished, keys recovered, new keybed felts, late 1990s) new hammers, butts, and shanks, new damper felts, 2012) The piano comes with a matching(reproduction) clawfoot oak stool, and a lamp(as shown in the photos) The strings are original(copper wound bass strings) The piano is tuned to A=440, concert pitch. The#1 bass string is as long as that of some six foot grands. PAIR Large Tiger Oak Victorian Church Panels Spoon Carved Eastlake Library Doors
Matching pair of ornate. Architectural, salvaged panels, just dying for a little imagination. Solid, quarter sawn oak construction. Square nails mean most likely circa 1865-1885. Starting from the bottom, you have bevelled baseboard trim. Then is a recessed bevelled panel with fluted side columns. Near the top are small carved columns flanking a spoon carved Eastlake panel. Additional Eastlake flowers at top corners with a bevelled arch in between. Some wear/dings but no breaks, missing pieces or repairs. Slight finish imperfections but excellent overall condition. They are substantial Victorian pieces measuring 38 1/2 inches tall, 12 3/4 inches wide, and weigh 13LBS each. Many other ornate furniture pieces listed. all questions encouraged and answered. Vintage Antique 1910 Singer Sewing Machine Red Eye Decals W/7 Drawer Tiger Oak Cabinet The cabinet is in fairly nice condition for its age. Photos show where the veneer is chipped. The two inside walls of the drawer units have loose veneer but hard to get to because of the iron work. All fancy fret work is in tact. The machine is dirty and I am unsure of the workings of it. The number is G4117170. The number dates to March 30. 1910. The trindle belt broke when I opened the top and pulled out the machine. When I turn the wheel the machine does go up and down. It is a Singer cabinet table no. 6. According to Singer, this cabinet will hold 15-30s, 66-1s, 115-1s and 127-3s. The cabinet is much more impressive then the machine. I would hate to part this cabinet out so will try a sell with pickup.

Unusual Antique Solid Wood Tiger Oak Country Store Can Grabber Jar Lifter I am still listing new items from Indiana. And have a boatload of new things from the flea market too. Lots of primitive antiques, farm finds, folk art, and the usual wacky Maureen stuff- you don’t want to miss this week! I bet you don't have one of these! The dealer that I bought it from told me that it is an old store can lift- the kind that the store owner would use to lift the cans that are up high. It's a shorty. Though- I'm used to ones being so much longer- maybe it was hand made for this use- I cannot tell for sure. It certainly does work for that purpose, though, and you could use it too, to access items that are up high in your pantry. The spring action works great and is tight and, I have to say, this oldee looks as great as it works! It is made ... morefrom solid oak that you can see tiger graining on in some spot, and the patina is dark from age- this is a very old piece. It measures 8 1/2" tall in total and is 3" wide when shut(with an inside opening of 1 7/8. When open to its fullest, it goes to 4 1/2" wide measuring on the inside walls- so it will pick up a fairly large item. It weighs a smidge over 1/4 lb. A heavy item too- as I'm demonstrating with my concrete rock that is about 3" diameter- it was holding it totally securely. It is in excellent solid and sturdy condition. There's minor wear to the medium dark colored finish- dark spots to the point of black about the steel hardware, and some light spots too. I'm showing you in photo 9 that the tips of the pincher do not meet up flush- they touch each other tightly when closed, but are off sideways about 1/8" It doesn't interfere with the functionality of the piece- though- it works great.
