It also has some really fantastic old green paint on it. One side is marked MEDINA NY and the other side is marked BIGNALL CO. This stand or base stands 19 ¾” tall at the top rim and measures 8” across the bottom of the base. The circular top measures 13” across at the outside edges and 12 ½” across at the inside rim or shelf. One side of that inside shelf is marked 12 1/2. Each side has a graceful arched arm for supporting the top piece. The arches or support arms have a series of circular cutouts in graduated sizes. There is a small square nut sort of quick soldered or tacked in one of the smaller circles– it looks like it will pop right out with a bit of force and a screwdriver. But I left it there. The original owner must have modified it for some reason to suit his needs. It does not have anything to do with the structural integrity of the piece. The center post is attached to the stacked domed base. The top circular rim is attached with screws, nuts, and bolts- I took pictures of how the it is attached from underneath. There is no damage to this piece– no breaks. Cracks, or repairs. There is flaking and missing old green paint here and there with the original black paint showing through. The underside of the base has some rusting, but there are no areas of pitting or weakness in the metal. I gave this piece a quick wipe down with some warm water and a sponge and dried it completely– nothing else. This base will be a work of art– well, it already is. At one time. It must have been kept in a damp basement as 2 of the leg's metal ends are rusted in their current position. I didn't want to clean or oil these for fear of ruining them. All the legs are pretty roughed up, and could use refinished. I tried cleaning up the wood with a little Old English, but it really didn't help much. There are 4 legs and one center support. This is a very nice antique Victorian pedestal style dining table base. It is solid mahogany and has a fluted pedestal. It is stamped with the number 100 on the bottom. It originally had a 50" top, it measures 25" high, it is designed to have castors which would add some height, measuring across the center of any two legs it is 26 1/2" and the top brackets are 14 1/2" wide x 12" deep, the legs are 2 3/4" wide. Some of the hardware on the top is missing as you can see in the pictures. Overall it is in good condition, some scuffs, nicks and dings to the legs which you can see, no splits or cracks to the pedestal or feet and no repairs. Solidly constructed, heavy, weathered, cast iron legs are 13 3/16" wide on the top~~15 3/4" wide on the bottom~~5/8" thick~~each letter varies from 2" to 2 1/4" tall~~the steel wheels are 1 1/4" in diameter and 1/2" thick~~the surface area where there is a hole to fasten a table top to is 1 1/4" wide and 1 1/2" long~~these legs are 27 1/2" tall. There are hints of the original black enamel though it is all but gone. The cast iron still remains smooth to the touch except where the spots of light, surface rust are located. You are buying these cast iron, sewing machine base legs as found. I refused to wipe them or grease the wheels. Neither of these legs have any cracks ... moreor anything broken. If you like the weathered look, these legs are for you. I found them leaning against an old oak tree out in the country. If not, you can redo them. Either way, these legs will make one sturdy table. This antique table stand caught my eye. It is very uni que. I could not find what category to put it under. It is hand carved. Rough cut in some areas, like under the table top. Looks like a rooster/chicken bird of some sor t carved legs. Two of the screws look like the original. The other leg ha s a newer screw replaced in that one. I do not know the age. Looks as though it had a design in the center of table. Cannot quite make out what it was. The one tabl e leg needs to be tightened. Not much. I did not tighten. did not want to mess around with it. It is from one of the local machine tool shops. The main one(Jones& Lamson) having its roots going back to before 1859. This table has a super thick wooden top measuring 42" wide x 27" deep x 2" thick. It is made up of three planks that are bolted to the legs. They don't extend to the back edge of the legs. And the edge color of the plank at the back indicates to me that there was more to the top at one time. I think it was a backsplash or something similar. Note the notched area on the front right where a vise once was mounted. There is a single old drawer mounted underneath the top.
