1888 Old Small Steamer Trunk Original Restored in 1920 Unique
Old Victorian Small Steamer Dome Trunk Signed on Buckles Pat. Mar. 1888 History as Follows: Gorgeous unique piece measuring 2 feet wide by 13 inches-deep-13 inches high. Used for travel. Original dome shape steamer trunk history as follows: Made in 1888 and later in the deco period it was painted restored as shown in photos. Very unique with handpainting outside to match the inner lining of calico red which may have been already in there from the Victorian era as they lined the bottom with Newspaper from the later fashion days. The red paint was painted over the slight marks on top that was used during the 1800's so it is determined the painting décor and bottom was done around the 1920's. Original beautiful hardware buckles signed PAT: MAR.1888. Shiny excellent gold in great condition. Closes with original closure just has middle ... moremissing but has been like that almost 100 years as you can see. Side handles excellent with wheels on bottom. A Ladycomet Nice Refinished Victorian Flat Top Steamer Trunk Antique Chest w/Key
Nice Refinished Antique Flat Top Steamer Trunk With Working Lock& Key Here is a nice refinished steamer trunk from around 1900 or so. This one has a very fancy working lock. Here are the trunk's dimensions: from left to right across the front is 32 inches. From floor to top is 23 1/2 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 20 1/4 inches. This trunk is made up of pine base wood with oak or ash outer slat boards. The wood has been finished with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax to protect it and make it look nice. The wood is in pretty good condition considering the age of this trunk and there are some typical stress cracks in the base wood. We have shown a close up picture of some of these stress cracks on the top. The majority of the trunks have similar stress cracks. This trunk maker did a nice job of running metal banding ... moreon this trunk. By doing so, it gives the trunk a nice wooden sectioned appearance. Some of the metal banding was missing, so we have filled these areas with glue to make up for the missing banding. The front latches are original cast iron ones and do work properly since the springs are intact. The side handles have been replaced with Amish made black leather stitched straps. The metal parts on this trunk are not brass and have therefore been brush painted by hand in black and gold leaf. Someone has added a lock hasp on the front of the trunk next to the fancy lock. We decided to leave it there since it appears to be fairly old and you could use a padlock with this hasp to secure the lid of the trunk to the base in addition to the fancy working lock. The lock is fancy in which it has embossed and carved patterns on it. There is a close up picture showing this unique lock. We did match up a key that does work with this lock. We are calling this trunk a flat top, although this trunk has a very slight factory arch to the top which is noticeable in ths close up side view picture. A recent estate sale purchase. An antique steamer trunk with a domed lid. The original tray and two keys. The top of the trunk has beautiful curved hardwood slats held in place with brass tacks. It has two leather handles that are in very good condition, brass plated hardware and pretty medallion trim. The trunk has a plain black metal covering with embossed tin(acorn pattern) on the top, down the front and partially down the sides and back. The latches on either side of the lock read' PAT-JUL 97' and the lock is marked' LONG LOCK CO. The trunk comes with its original tray with a pretty cover on one side and the entire inside, including the tray, is lined with an attractive patterned paper. The bottom is also metal covered and has two plain hardwood slats running the length on each side. There are three small metal wheels near ... moreeach corner(one is missing) that make the trunk easier to move around on any hard flat surface. There is some surface rust here and there but nothing serious and no rust through(no holes) It measures approximately 32" long X 23" high at the highest point near the center X 18" wide. The two keys do not appear to be original to this trunk but they work perfectly, the previous owner's family probably had to find a locksmith to open it because once it's closed it's automatically locked, the keys will be placed in an envelope and taped to the outside so you can get it open when it arrives.

The trunk is 31 inches long 19 inches wide and 21 inches tall. This trunk was found at an Estate sale and has been in storage for years. Yes that is rust you are seeing. Trunk is made of a thin tin metal sheeting with wood slat boards across the trunk. The lock appears original along with all of the hinges. None are missing. The feet are all intact. Not loose. Wonderful antique steamer trunk from family estate. Was my great-aunt's piece. In very good condition for it's age(late 1800's) This trunk measures 30" W x 15 1/2" D x 19 1/2" H. Bent wooden handles are in great condition and solid. Wood slats have a nice rich patina and metal is embossed with shell pattern and shows no rust. Original rollers on bottom, but at some point, additional rollers added. Trunk sits firmly on these rollers. Interior is in great condition with some peeling wallpaper. This is a great piece. It is a German antique steamer trunk I believe to be from about 1890-1910. This is a rare style of trunk. Double locked and oak banded(made with half round oak banding instead of flat wood bands) The exterior canvas is mostly intact with some nicks and tears from use. The color of the exterior varies a bit from darker to lighter brown. There are remnants of some old old labels on the outside of the trunk as well. All original locks. Hardware, etc. The interior lining is mostly there. But with some tears. The leather handles are still on, but one is broken and the other is very worn and would probably break if used. This is an Antique ca.1890 Ladies trunk. Sometimes called a half trunk or hat trunk. It is 20"x 15"x 20" high and weighs 24 lbs. It is solid pine with wide oak slats. The original canvas has been repainted dark forest green. All of the hardwear is original. The key has been lost. The leather handles have been replaced. A Ladycomet Refinished Dome Top Steamer Trunk Antique Chest w/Straps, Key & Tray
Fabulous Refinished Antique Dome Top Steamer Trunk With Straps& Buckles. Working Lock With Key and Interior Tray This beautiful trunk sure has taken on quite a transformation from the time that we have purchased it. It was very rustic and in dire need of help. Here are the trunk's dimensions: from left to right across the front is 30 inches. From floor to top is approximately 25 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 19 inches. This lovely dome top top should date back to the mid to late 1800's and it appears to be made up of pine and poplar base wood with oak outer slat boards. We have finished the wood with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax. The wood has a nice reddish brown color to it. There are some typical older distress marks on the wooden surfaces. These markings include older nicks and dings along with some slight ... moreareas of discoloration. The majority of the trunks that we refinish have similar distress marks. This one comes with the original working lock. We have found a key that does activate the lock mechanism. The metal parts that make up this nice trunk are not brass and have therefore been brush painted by hand in black and gold leaf. The side handles were missing and have been replaced with Amish made black leather stitched straps. This one was missing the front latches, so we have run a pair of Amish made leather straps with roller buckles up the front and across the top. Instead of having the metal latches, you can use the straps to secure the trunk's top to it's base when buckled in addition to the working lock. As far as repairs go, there were two pieces of hardware missing where the outer slat boards meet. So we have replaced these with some home made pieces that look somewhat similar. There was also a section of an outer slat board missing, and we replaced it with a piece of slat board from a parts trunk. Refinished antique wooden steamer trunk circa late 1890’s. Early 1900’s with original hardware. This has a wonderful flat top surface, perfect use for a table or at the bottom of a bed. Plus it is nice and roomy, excellent for extra storage. The inside has been stripped of the original paper. Brass colored hardware and front lock, no key. Original handles in tact, which is rare as most broke off over time. The wood has been finished in a nice warm medium pine color with a not to shiny, not to dull, just right finish. The metal hardware has not been repainted, only cleaned. I like to leave the hardware in its found state. Rear hinges are in working order and original inside hardware holds lid up perfectly. There is a stress crack on the top, normal for antiques trunks as they were packed and then stacked for traveling. The bottom shows some ... morewear. Refinished Civil War Era Dome Top Steamer Trunk Antique Chest Very Nice
I am listing a Beautiful Refinished Antique Dome Top Civil War Era Trunk. This trunk is probably from the mid 1870's period. As some of the hardware is marked 1872. T he trunk's dimensions are from left to right across the front- 26 inches. From floor to top is approximately 19 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 15 inches. I have removed all of the original paper that covered this trunk, inside and out. The trunk is made entirely up of pine wood. The wood has been finished with three coats of clear lacquer. The wood is in great shape with a couple of stress cracks in various places which are quite common on trunks this old. This one comes with the original tray. The front latches are also original and do work. The side handles are really unique and quite rare to see anymore. They are made of wood and are usually broke. These ... morere in excellent shape. Going to the interior, I have finished the interior wood with two coats of clear lacquer. The interior is in pretty good condition considering how old this trunk is. The exterior bottom underneath the trunk has normal wear. It also has the four factory original rollers and slats. As you can see from the photos to the left and above. It is lined with a floral patterned paper and has a beautiful lithograph containing dogwood tree blossoms, a child in victorian dress and two children that appear to be Eskimo/Inuit with a dog. One of the children is riding in a sled with the other standing behind probably on the runners. As you can see. This tray is in pretty rough shape. However the art was so beautiful we had to rescue it and hope someone can use it! This tray measures 27 3/4" x 13 1/4" on the very bottom. Here is a very nice Antique Louis Vuitton steamer trunk. Its the highest end model with all brass hardware and leather trim and a zinc bottom. Interior is clean with 2 trays. This is the very early hand woven linen monogram canvas which was produced from 1896-1904. The serial number 106906 should put it around 1899. The drawers include 1 hat box. 1 folded box and 2 small drawers The original lock is intact. But I do not have the key. Has all the original wooden hangers. Up for sale is an ANTIQUE 1890's ALL ORIGINAL HUMPBACK/ BARREL TOP AMERICAN STEAMER TRUNK. Everything is All Original. Except for the finish, the finish has been restored. Could use leather handles easy fix, could use an old belt of your choice and color.Had a wooden insert at one time, some people took them out to store bigger or more items.
