It is in fair condition, with good bones, but the outer covering is stained, and torn in several ... moreplaces. The metal corners and the seams are all intact. The leather handles on each end are also intact, however, they are brittle and cracking. The latches work, but the center locking mechanism is missing. There is a small break in the wood of the trunk in this area, where the bottom portion of the locking latch would have been located. There is a piece of the left latch that is also missing. The inside lining of the trunk is intact, but it is quite dirty, and there are large stains on it as well. The original label is still present on the inside of the lid but is very faded. The trunk is 9.5” deep, 13.5” tall, 30.5” long, and 22.5” wide.

You see the condition, she definitely has character. The bare wood was once covered with a heavy type decorative paper, most of that is gone but you see some remnants of that in places. The original label was found in the trunk. It belonged to a gentleman in Escanaba Michigan. Maybe you can reincorporate the label back into a repurpose project(maybe lacqure it onto the top side? There is leather and metal construction incorporated into this little trunk. The leather handle is broken and the leather straps are gone with just some of their remnants being in place. The trunk is still 100% solid. This trunk will make a killer repurpose project, you just need to use your imagination, is it a small table, a small storage trunk for a big city loft apartment? And lucky for me I had hubby to carry it out of the attic and down 3 flits of stairs! And now for the decription… This is a nice authentic period Wardrobe steamer trunk. It is signed on the exterior by the maker Oshkosh Trunk Company. I am unsure of the exact age. But it was clearly left where I had found it for a very very long time. If I had to guestimate I would say it is likely from the early 20 th century. It measures 40 x 22 x 20 inches and weighs 75 pounds respectfully. The exterior is covered with what appears to be a volcanized material with dozens of original brass. Nails, knobs Hinges, Lock and hardware. The lock comes with key and functions as designed. 1921 Belber steamer wardrobe trunk from Frackville/Pottsville. Pennsylvania. Hello everyone. Up for auction is a vintage 1921 Belber steamer wardrobe trunk that is in great condition for its age; lovely worn-look It was manufactured by the Belber Trunk and Bag Company Phiadelphia. Pa. It was purchased at H.R. Knapp Leather Goods in Pottsville. Pennsylvania. It has stickers that tell that it travelled on the American Railway Express Company from Schuylkill County to Philadelphia with a young woman who attended Temple University teacher’s college. Dimensions are 41.5" x 21.5" x 21" Handle intact. All hardware is intact with all the rivets except the key is lost, 5 drawers that open and close, a separated small matching case, an ironing board; Has the Original Bar which goes thru the drawers to keep them secure during travel The ... morepatent date of April 19, 1921 is on it. Drawers still open and close. Hanger Rods still extend. But there are no hangers. Top opens so you can take the clothes out in the back without having to take the ones in front out first. It has the original material with some small snags; no holes in the interior or exterior. Isabella Irene Francks was the owner and lived in Frackville. Pa. She graduated from Temple University on June 14, 1928 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. There are several Vintage handwritten letters included from her which gives the piece alot of character. This is a great piece of local history. When I sell something on Ebay I describe it how it REALLY is. No bull here, only facts on how something is and thats the way it should be. Period. Beautiful Victorian Era Steamer Trunk. Camel or Hump Back Style. Wooden slats across the top. Sides, front and back. The lock is yale. Has the greatest little clover or club design on it. The hardware is gorgeous. Victorian style, trunk style is common or the trunks produced in the late 1800's, 1880's. Large dome. Camel back style. Not slightly domed like some. Very likely belonging to someone from an upper class, usually camel back trunks were bought by people from higher classes, they were more expensive and people bought them b/c they were more beautiful, and b/c they would be placed on the top when they traveled. If their trunk was on top, they rationalized their trunks and belongings would be safer. The trunk is in great condition for its age. The latches however dont latch well. If a key was found however the lock would work ... moreas it aligns perfectly. There are dings and imperfections. Such is expected, but only a defect to some! Hi up for auction I have an antique Hartmann Gibralterized travel steamer trunk. These trunks were designed to travel on ships or rail systems. This trunk dates from the 1920's to 1930's. It is very heavy and large. Measures: 20 x22 x 40 5/8. And has a weight of 95 pounds. The trunk has some nice labels on it. It measures 31" long by 19" wide and 23" tall(no key) The original canvas that wrapped this trunk has been removed and the wood was hand sanded then sealed with two coats of spar urethane(light sand in between coats) The exterior has some character flaws from age. Missing handles and some missing trim but overall it is in good condition- very functional and solid. The interior of this trunk has been left in all original condition to keep some of it's history. The paper lining has some wear from age as pictured but overall it is in fair condition with no odor. HERE’S AN INCREDIBLE ORIGINAL VINTAGE 1920S(POSSIBLY EARLIER) CHILD’S STEAMER TRUNK COMPLETE WITH ITS ORIGINAL REMOVABLE TRAY AND ALL OF ITS INTERIOR FABRIC IN BEAUTIFUL CONDITION! Measuring thirteen and a quarter inches(13 ¼” in height. Eighteen and a quarter inches(18 ¼” in length, and eleven and a quarter inches(11 ¼” in width or depth(depending on how you view it) this rare vintage child’s steamer trunk displays an original black faux leather and metal exterior with thick straps complete with rows and rows of brass-colored studs(rivets) approximately 450 of them! Please Note: While all of the hardware appears to be made from brass. Including the studs, corners, hinges, lock, and handle plates, all of them stick to a magnet. To this end, of the metalwork is made from brass-plated steel. There is also an original metal tag ... moreon the trunk’s top front edge that reads: Holden Trunk& Bag Co. Inc. Petersburg. VA” As you can see from the photographs attached above. The trunk’s interior has all of its original pink, green, and white floral fabric, all of which is in amazingly beautiful condition– no damage! In fact. The trunk itself is in amazingly nice condition. There are really only two(2) issues. The side handles for the trunk were made from strap leather. One of these leather handles is missing(on the trunk’s right side) The other leather handle, which is still present, is split in middle(on the trunk’s left side) Overall. This trunk is all original– untouched! While there are some general small scratches and minor loss to the black patina, as well as some very fine little white paint speckles on the top(these are very fine and not visually distracting) this trunk was well maintained and the little girl who owned it treated it with affection. I say“little girl” because this trunk was filled with all of the items one would expect a little girl to own back in the 1920s. Also. This is a really cool vintage trunk made by Texas Trunks out of San Antonio Texas. There is a sticker on the back that seems to put it on united van lines in 1925! To be honest this thing is in very nice shape for something around 90 years old. All straps and buckles are intact and in great shape. The key is missing. There are some scuffs and rubs from the one or two times it looks like it was used for legitimate travel. and on the back panel the laminate is kinda separated from the plywood. You can not see this in the photo.you can only feel it when you run your hand across the back.VERY MINOR. Extra Large Vintage Steamer Trunk 36" X 20" X 22"
Sturdy trunk could be used as a coffee table. The hinge and latches work and it will stay open be its self. The lock appears to work but I don't have a key so I can't really test it. It is a wood frame covered with a hard plastic like sheeting with metal corners and accents. Dark green. Gold and red. This trunk has a lot of history. Left over shipping tags, scratches and marks, it even looks like a double bladed rip saw tried to cut off one of the bottom corners until it hit the metal corner braces and you can see in the last photo that one blade made it all the was through, one of the thick leather handles on the side is worn almost all the way through and it wouldn't survive if the trunk had a load in it. Vintage Philadelphia Orchestra Steamer Trunk Stokowski Era 20's-40's
Up for auction is an AMAZING piece of history! This is an Original Steamer Trunk that belonged to a member of the Philadelphia Orchestra in it's best days of the Leopold Stokowski Orchestra. The musician's trunk was Charles Gusikoff. Principal trombone 1931-1954. There is a picture of him backstage with the trunk. Inside the trunk are stickers and pictures from performances all over the country and beyond. The trunk has NOT been reconditioned and in original condition. Antique,Vintage,Wood Steamer Trunk,Chest,Ornate Brass,Eagle Lock Co.,1833-1954
Nice Old Antique Trunk. I am not sure of the exact age. But the lock on it is from Eagle Lock Co. Eagle lock was in business from 1833-1954. So the age of the trunk lies in that time frame. It is adorned with black metal trim and ornate brass accents. This old trunk does show it's age in places. But there is nothing major. A few nicks, and there are a few dents or ding marks in the black metal trim. On the top front you will see there is 2 areas of chipped or worn off wood, a small amount enough to where wood putty filler should be an easy fix if you wish. There is also a very small chip place on the side you can see in pic 6. One of the hinges on the back is missing one button, see pic 9, and there is some separation on some of the brass corner pieces you can see in pic 12. I think I have mentioned every flaw. But please see all the ... morepictures for the best description. For a trunk this old I consider its condition to be normal. Also, this would make a nice coffee table. the top is flat. Restored Civil War Era Steamer Trunk
I have for sale a restored Civil War Era Steamer Trunk made around the time of the Civil War. It is in very good condition and the interior lined with cedar. It originally was covered with leather which had to be removed. It is an excellent and rare trunk that can be used for storage or as a coffee table. It has a removable tray on the inside. The nails are solid brass and it is trimed with metal straps. It will last another 150 years or so. The lock does work. It measures 27 inches long by 16 1/2 inches wide by 14 1/2 inches high. I will drive up to an hour to meet with the person who wins the auction to deliver the trunk.

Antique Steamer Trunk, Dome Top, Fully Refinished with tray ca 1880

The originally outside paper covering and interior paper have been removed to show the beauty of the pine wood. The wood was sanded and refinished with stain and multiple coats of sealer. The metal covering. Top and front, were sanded, primed and painted with lime green paint and then stain applied to give it an aged look. All hardware is original and in excellent shape. ALBERT ROSENHAIN BERLIN Steamer Wardrobe TRUNK
Found this trunk while clearing out an old house in Washington DC. I don't know anything about it so the information here represents my best guess based on information I could find on-line and by looking at the trunk. It has one side made up of 5 fabric covered drawers(one with a lock) and the opposite side for hanging clothes. It appears to be a wardrobe trunk made by Albert Rosenhain Berlin. There are a few markings on the outside of the trunk- a red stripe and some initials. It has metal tacks and hardware. One original hanger that bears a tag with the"Albert Rosenhain" name and a metal hanger(which may or may not be original) The interior cloth is army green. Covering the outside of the wardrobe section is an integral hanging garment bag with a zipper made from the same army green fabric. Antique HARTMANN Wardrobe Steamer Trunk Cushion Top No Reserve
You are bidding on an antique Hartmann brand wardrobe steamer trunk in amazing condition. It has almost all of its original accessories and hardware. Many hangers are included. Possibly more than originally equipped. Both the securing bar for the drawers and the securing bar for the clothes are present and original. It is very large measuring 40"x23"x25" It is also very heavy. This trunk has been in our family for so long that no one even remembers where it came from. Until recently, we could not open it because it was locked and we had no key. We had a key made for it and were amazed at how great it looked when we opened it up. There is no key for the securing bar for the drawers, but it is not seized and should work properly if a new key is made. It needs a new handle as it is missing. It should be a standard leather strap ... moretype for which reproductions are available and inexpensive. The only other thing I see that may be missing is a travel case that would lock into the hanger area. If you look at the drawers, you will see the Hartmann logo on the handles, and there is some of the original label left on the top. It has gold color interior with very nice trim. Some wear on the contact areas like the drawer slides, but overall, it looks hardly used. Based on its design, I would say that it is probably from the 1920s or 1930s. I was unable to confirm this, and base my guess on some old advertising I was researching. I welcome any information as to its time of manufacture. This is a very. Very nice vintage steamer trunk with a wonderful fitted interior. The outide is a little rough but not dented and no holes. Typical for the age. The interior is little better. The drawers work okay, one lid is split and the oak mirror is fine. The is a stenicl name Adele Ott and a sticker from Atlantic City New Jersey's Hotel Dennis. There are no maker names that I can find but there is a pattern that may help with Idenity. This is not Louis Vuitton I dont think but nevertheless a very nice and rare vintage steamer trunk. Nice Refinished Dome Curve Arch Top Steamer Trunk Antique Chest w/ Interior Tray
Nice Refinished Antique Curve Top Steamer Trunk With Nice Polished Metal and Interior Tray Here is a very nice clean. Refinished fancy embossed patterned metal arch top steamer trunk from the late 1800's. Here are this beautiful trunk's dimensions: from left to right across the front is 34 1/2 inches. From floor to top is 23 1/2 inches. And from front edge to back edge is 19 1/2 inches. This nice trunk is made up of original fancy square or checkered patterned metal along with oak outer slat boards. We wire wheeled the fancy metal to bring it up to a nice shine which is probably very close to what it looked like back when it was sold in the 1800's. We also refinished the outer slat boards by giving them three coats of polyurethane by Minwax. Overall, this trunk is in very nice condition. We brush painted the rest of the metal ... moreby hand in black and gold leaf. The fancy metal is polished, not painted. This one has the original lock. It is missing the key hole cover. It does work with the key we have provided. Since the key hole cover is missing, the key has less guidance into the lock. With some practice, you can engage and disengage the lock with the key. The front latches are original and do work since the springs are still intact. The side handles were missing and have been replaced with Amish made black leather stitched straps. We say Amish made because we obtain all of our leather items for these refinished trunks from an Amish man here in Pennsylvania near our home. This would be a fabulous trunk to put at the foot of the bed and store blankets and other clothing items inside, and it is sturdy enough to sit upon the top if you need to do so while changing your clothing. To tell you the truth, this trunk would look nice anywhere inside your home where storage space is needed. Going to the inside, we have made a nice tray for you that rests at the top edge where the original one once did. Gorgeous Refinished Antique Flat Top Steamer Trunk With Straps& Buckles. Working Lock With Key, and Two Original Interior Trays Here is an absolutely beautiful fancy refinished flat top steamer trunk from the late 1800's to around 1900 or so. If you have been waiting for the magnificent trunk with a tremendous amount of hardware. Then this one is definitely the one for you. It is hard for us to find trunks throughout the year that are really nice like this one. Here are the trunk's di mensions: from left to right across the front is 32 1/2 inches. From floor to top is 22 1/2 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 21 inches. This beauty is made up of pine base wood with oak outer slat boards. The wood has been finished with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax. The wood is in pretty good condition with some typical older ... moredistress marks which include nicks and dings in various places along with some hairline stress cracks. Just about all of the trunks that we refinish have these older character marks or distress marks, most of which have accumulated over time. The edge banding on the sides of this trunk is made up of some type of composition. It has some typical small splits or stress cracks in it, one of which we have shown in a close up picture so there won't be any surprises. The metal parts that make up this trunk are not brass, therefore we have brush painted the metal by hand in black and gold leaf. This trunk maker went all out and put lots of fancy hardware on this trunk. This beautiful trunk comes with the original signed working lock. Look at the close up picture and you will see it is signed, Eagle Lock Co Terryville Conn" We have matched up a key for you that does work properly with this lock. This trunk originally came with leather straps with buckles. They were eroded away and missing, so we have run a nice pair of Amish made leather straps with roller buckles up the front and across the top in the same location where the original ones did. Vintage Steamer Trunk - estimated pre-1900 - unrestored antique
This is an antique steamer trunk. Used for transportation of personal items while traveling by train or the like. The production date is estimated to be pre-1900. You will find this to be a beautiful piece. The condition is a bit rough but as expected for an item that has been used extensively. Imagine this being loaded onto a train car in the early 1900's. Vintage Steamer Trunk with Railroad Tag From 1948 With Key
You are viewing a vintage steamer trunk. You may have viewed many trunks before but how many have US Customs and Railway Express tags dated 1948, its amazing that a paper tag can remain attached and legible for 65 years. To top that off it still has a key for the lock, its a really neat trunk. The hinges and latches are in great shape, the lock has a spring inside that is coming apart so Im nervous to try to lock it. The inside paper lining is dirty and fragile so I dont want to clean it. The handles are both there and are in good shape. If there are any questions please feel free to ask. I am going to set the shipping at $60 but if its less I will refund the difference, I sold a trunk last week that I refunded $20, the amount of cost is on the shipping tag so youll be able to verify. It measures 41-1/2 inches in height or length. 22-1/2 by 22-1/2 inches in width and depth. It is totally original. It is a light beige colored tweed, with a dark brown leather trim throughout. Inside(left side) there are 4 drawers with beautiful pull handles. On the opposite side is set up for your clothing with wooden hangers. It has the original curtain, clothes bag, and another small compartment in the bottom closed off by another curtain. As you can see from the many photos that I took this trunk is in beautiful condition. There are some scratches and rubs but nothing is broken, or torn. All the hinges work great. Leather steamer trunk belonged to Henry McNeal Turner *Final reduction*
I bought this leather trunk in February of 2004 at an auction in Charleston SC that had many items that once belonged to Henry McNeal Turner. 12th Bishop of the African Methodist Church. See below for detailed biography. Considering the age, it is in excellent condition. Some of the leather could use some conditioning and the blue string used to make the star on the inside cover is very brittle. There are many compartments in this trunk and all of the hinges and locking mechanisms are there as far as I can tell. The color of the leather on the inside is beautiful and the details worked into this trunk are very very nice. I never cleaned or conditioned this trunk so as to leave it as it came into my possesion. The bottom has 4 metal wheels attached to two wooden skis. Up for sale is this Antique Came l Ba ck/Dome Steamer Trunk. It measures approximately 24" tall. 24 1/2" long. And 18 1/2" deep. The trunk has very ornate tin floral sheeting across the top and the outside panels of the trunk. This trunk is in good condition. With wear co nsistant with age. Trunk does not lock. A n d key is not included. The leather s trap handles have deteriorated with age and have torn and frayed. But are still attached. The inside of the trunk is papered with a patterned paper and has a colorful border as well as a large sticker. And the original tray is included, however the tray ha s cracked at the bottom from age and use. p lease see pictures for details) The bottom of the tru nk is cracked in places and the hinge at the back of the trunk is starting to break away. Also loop above the lock was replaced, used is 100% brown leather, leather was vintage, but in very excellent condition All sides of this trunk are embossed with a gorgeous design. 1800's dome hump camel back steamer travel chest trunk alligator skin design
Thanks for looking at my listing. This sale is for a very unique piece of history. It's called a steamer trunk dome style from the 1800's. Made of wood and metal. Great craftsmanship, there is a ton of detail available on this trunk. It's beautiful, and features an alligator skin"cover" over the center portion of the trunk, as well as on the sides. There's still the original victorian picture on the inside, and the tray is there as well. The trunk is damaged on the left hinge, and it appears someone at some point tried to fix it, but the wood split. A beautiful piece to have and restore, or just keep it the way it is for history sake. I don't know much else about it, like the origin, or how many families it went through. Alligator Embossed Steamer Trunk 1890-1910 This is a versatile and attractive trunk from the turn of the century. A solidly constructed steamer made of wood, trimmed with embossed alligator tin, and featuring a lid with only a slight arc. It’s 34 inches wide, 19 inches front to back, and 22.5 inches tall– a perfect complement to any rustic decor. The trunk is constructed of a pine box with hardwood slats across the top and two slats on the front and back. It has new thick black leather handles and a new lid stay– otherwise in original condition. The alligator pattern has been refinished in a rich. Reddish brown that is darker than it may appear in the flash photos. Although there is no evidence of its manufacturer. For your consideration antique flat top steamer trunk ca. 1890 with key and original tray New handles and straps with buckles. The interior has been stripped. Cleaned, sealed, and covered with a period c orrect fabric design. Lithograph and border. The exterior has been stripped. Brushed cleaned. Lightly sanded and sealed. all of that to preserve and protect the look that only a real antique could have. But at the same time user friendly.
